Jumong ep. 41:
jumong thinks about daeso's request for him to go to han nation as hostage, and daeso's promise to look after yoohwa and anyone else jumong treasures in his absence. mopalmo finds out about it and says there's no way jumong should go, but mari replies that is not up to jumong and jumong will surely end up going for yoohwa and king geumwa's sake. yesoya is pondering about when jumong arrives and asks her why she's standing outside. yesoya replies she was suffocating in her heart and she just came out for fresh air. jumong asks if something is troubling her and yesoya asks if the rumor about jumong going to han as hostage is true. jumong replies daeso's request for him is no other than an order, and if jumong declines to go his mother and king geumwa and all those important for him will be met with danger. yesoya tells jumong she is prepared to leave buyeo anytime and asks jumong if she can do anything. jumong states the reason he brought her to the palace is to help her avenge her wounds, but he is sorry he has not been able to do anything for her, and tells her before he departs for chang-ahn city, he will make sure she is safe. yesoya appears touched and looks at jumong without saying anything else.
the queen's brother tells the other ministers and the head general heukchi that daeso has decided to send a hostage to han nation as a pledge of their subordination, and budeukbul asks who the hostage might be. the queen's brother says it would be jumong of course. budeukbul replies it cannot be jumong, and goes to tell daeso they need to keep jumong in their sight or else it is too dangerous. budeukbul suggests they should send yeongpo instead, and daeso wonders if the queen would approve, and budeukbul replies if daeso really wants to be king, he needs to escape from the queen's web as well. the queen is meeting with the oracles and one of the oracle says they should set daeso as crown prince but the queen says that is nothing anymore. just then her maid comes and informs her about yeongpo set as hostage headed for han nation.
yeongpo storms into daeso's room and daeso tries to convince him saying it is a good opportunity for yeongpo to go to han nation and learn things, but yeongpo is angry and says if it's so good then daeso should just go instead. just then the queen arrives and tells daeso if he sends yeongpo then it is the same as asking her to die. the queen tells yeongpo not to worry for he will not go no matter what, and daeso is frustrated.
yeongpo leaves the room and grabs a sword from his guard, and goes to budeukbul to ask him if he was the one who suggested sending him as hostage. budeukbul replies yes, and yeongpo puts his sword to budeukbul's throat and budeukbul replies he did it for yeongpo's sake, so that yeongpo can go and learn many things in chang-ahn. yeongpo says it is enough and leaves, telling them he will soon show them the price of ridiculing and belittling him. the other ministers are worried, but budeukbul says yeongpo is not capable of completing anything grand.
yoohwa finds out about all that is going on and goes to king geumwa to inform him daeso is sending jumong as hostage to han nation. the king asks for detail, and yoohwa replies the han nation has asked buyeo for hostage of an important person as pledge of their subordination, and geumwa tells his guard to summon daeso. meanwhile daeso is with the queen who asks what jumong's reply was when he asked him to go to han as hostage. just then the maid comes and tells daeso the king has asked to see him. the queen urges daeso not to back down no matter what the king says and daeso goes to geumwa. the king asks daeso if it is true that the han nation has asked for hostage and daeso replies yes. the king asks why daeso didn't discuss the matter with him and daeso says he has carefully considered the matter and will agree to send hostage to han nation. geumwa asks daeso if he has any self pride and daeso says this is not the time for pride, and he already married someone he doesn't love to stop a war, and there is no reason for him not to do more to protect buyeo. king geumwa says the hans will not stop with their requests, and asks daeso what he will do when they ask him to give up buyeo, or when they ask him for his life. daeso tells geumwa not to think of him as one with such a small mind, and tells geumwa he will succeed in developing swords superior than that of the hans. geumwa asks who daeso will send in that case, and daeso says he will send jumong, and geumwa laughs mockingly, but daeso reminds geumwa he has already entrusted national matters in daeso's hands and thus he should believe in him. daeso leaves, and geumwa begins coughing in distress.
jumong leaves the palace on horse and thinks by the river.. meanwhile yeongpo has summoned dochi into the palace and are scheming something, when ohyi sees the two together in secrecy. ohyi goes to mari and hyeopbo and states something is definitely going on. it is night time, and yeongpo goes to dochi's base with a couple of guards, and he is followed by the trio. dochi has prepared a civilian army to serve yeongpo and they practice fighing skills as yeongpo watches in approval. yang seolran tells daeso if jumong goes to han nation he will never return alive, as her father already told the imperial of han to kill jumong as he fought against the hans in the war. daeso asks seolran if she made the request and seolran reminds him she has already told him she will stop anyone who might get in daeso's way. seolran then asks what daeso thinks about marrying yesoya off to jumong before jumong leaves, saying how fun it would be to see how soseono might react.
jumong is summoned by geumwa who tells jumong not to accept daeso's order, and leave buyeo. jumong is surprised and yoohwa tells jumong to listen to geumwa for he made the decision after careful and thorough consideration. geumwa says jumong cannot go to chang-ahn as hostage, and jumong replies he will accept daeso's order for if he rejects, daeso might do something bad towards yoohwa and geumwa. geumwa says not to worry that, but jumong states he will go and learn things in han nation, and he will surely return to buyeo again. next, jumong goes to daeso and tells him he will leave for chang-ahn. daeso is happy and jumong asks daeso to look after yoohwa and king geumwa as he promised, and daeso agrees. jumong then tells daeso yesoya is one who saved his life and asks him to keep her well. daeso asks jumong what he thinks about marrying yesoya, since he doesn't feel right to send jumong all the way to han nation all by himself, and it would be good for jumong and yesoya to keep each other company without loneliness.
jumong says nothing, and daeso says he knows soseono is in jumong's heart, but that is all in their past fate and asks jumong to consider marrying yesoya as it will give daeso peace in heart.
jumong meets with the trio who tell jumong about yeongpo and dochi preparing warriors. jumong thinks about yeongpo words previously saying he cannot sit still while daeso is taking everything away from their father. jumong goes out and is met by yeongpo. jumong asks to speak to yeongpo and yeongpo asks jumong if he is really going to chang-ahn. jumong replies yes, and yeongpo scoffs him saying this is what jumong gets for serving daeso and says jumong would not have suffered this if he had listend to him.
jumong states he has no strength and yeongpo says if they join hands they do, and jumong asks if yeongpo has some ideas and plans, and yeongpo says jumong is already declaring he is headed for chang-ahn there is no use to discuss the matter further.
in hyeonto, yang jeong sends his man dongseon to capture one of yeontabal's merchants who is doing business in hyeonto city. the man begs for his life saying he is only doing business and it is benefiting the people of hyeonto. yang jeong will not hear it and throws him into the prision. in gyeru, sayong relates the news to soseono saying all their merchantry in hyeonto has been taken into custody and this must all be song yang's doing. soseono calls for a meeting and declares she will attack biryu and kill song yang.
yangtak says if gyeru attacks biryu now it is the same as suicide, but soseono says she will not sit still any longer and sayong says soseono is right but they are not in the position to attack anyone at this state. wootae also supports the idea of attack saying they cannot just suffer like this. yeonchaeryeong sends a messenger to song yang, and next she tells yang tak they can't leave soseono alone like this.
soseono goes to see her father and asks him to help her decide what to do. yeontabal says he already put gyeru's fate in her hands and it is up to her now. soseono complains it is not something she can be responsible for, but yeontabal says he believes in her and that she will accomplish what should be done.
yeontabal leaves, and soseono is troubled. next yeomieul asks to see soseono and yeomieul asks her if she will attack song yang. soseono replies yes, and yeomieul states she understands chief soseono's heart but this is not the time for attack. soseono says she knows it is dangerous, but she must pursue it.
yeomieul tells soseono, though soseono and jumong's fate seem ended, jumong will soon leave buyeo, and there will come one day in the future that she and jumong will join hands together to accomplish a great deed, thus she will need to endure through no matter what happens until then.
back in buyeo, jumong tells the trio yeongpo is planning to attack daeso, and the trio think this might be an opportunity for jumong. in court, daeso announces he will go to jolbon to meet with song yang. next, yeongpo goes to dochi and tells him there is now a change of plan, since daeso will be in jolbon soon, and they will attack him there thus if something goes wrong it will not be as bad as if it were in buyeo palace.
jumong and the trio figure out what yeongpo's plan is, and the trio says they wish yeongpo succeeds, but jumong says nothing.
dochi tells his warriors they will go toward jolbon, and if they fail on their mission they must state they are gyeru's warriors. ohyi is watching in secret and reports back to jumong what he witnessed. ohyi tells jumong dochi has sent men to jolbon to kill daeso, and they are going under pretense as gyeru's army. jumong tells ohyi to go find mari and hyeopbo at once.
daeso arrives in jolbon and both song yang and soseono are there to receive him. daeso looks at soseono and says it's been a long time. soseono says nothing and makes no eye contact. daeso goes in meeting with the chieves from 5 small jolbon nations, and daeso announces he will help protect jolbon in the future, and says in that case jolbon should do something in return for buyeo. song yang asks what he had in mind, and daeso replies he will incorporate the jolbon nations into buyeo nation (did i hear this right?) and song yang is taken aback but agrees. daeso sees soseono in private next. daeso tells soseono he has news of jumong for her, and soseono says there is no reason for her to hear about jumong's news. daeso laughs and says he is touched by her trying so hard to forget jumong . soseono says she will leave, and daeso tells her from her back that jumong will be sent to han nation as hostage, and before he is to depart they will marry jumong with yesoya who saved his life. daeso wonders how soseono feels now and says soon she will know how her treatement of him felt like too.
next, daeso and his men are passing by an open field and they are attacked by dochi's warriors. a battle breaks out, and jumong arrives with the trio to save daeso. jumong kills off the attackers, and asks daeso if he is alright. daeso tells naru to find out who the attackers are, and naru replies they are gyeru's army. daeso vows not to let soseono off hook easily, and jumong asks him to reconsider saying if it were really gyeru warriors they would not be wearing obvious gyeru armors to announce their identity. naru agrees with jumong's assessment and daeso wonders who is really behind it.
dochi's man returns to buyeo and reports to dochi and yeongpo that they were about to succeed in their mission when jumong arrived to ruin everything. yeongpo is furious and leaves... in the palace, the queen and her brother and happy about all the great things that daeso is doing for buyeo. just then the maid arrives telling the queen daeso was attacked on his way to biryu and the queen asks what happened to daeso. the maid says daeso is safe and has returned. the queen storms out and is met by yeongpo. the queen who tells yeongpo about daeso being attacked. yeongpo asks who dared to do that to daeso, and the queen replies that has not been found yet.
naru brings army to dochi's base and captures them all. meanwhile the queen and yeongpo are waiting anxiously for daeso to return to the palace, and daeso returns at last. the queen asks if he's been hurt anywhere and daeso replies due to jumong saving him he was able to avoid a bigger crisis. the queen is suprised and says if not for that a big trouble would've come out of it. yeongpo repeats the same and daeso stares down at yeongpo. just then naru brings dochi and his men in and daeso draws his sword and places it on yeongpo's throat. daeso tells the queen the attack was yeongpo's doing in trying to kill him.
Jumong ep. 42:
daeso wants to kill yeongpo for his betrayal and attempted murder, and the queen begs yeongpo to say he didn't but yeongpo cannot answer. daeso puts his sword at dochi's throat and dochi begs for his life saying everything he did was because of yeongpo's order. daeso slashes both dochi and his assistant to death before everyone,
and next daeso puts his sword back at yeongpo's throat and tells yeongpo to speak if he has something to say. yeongpo closes his eyes and asks for death, and just as daeso raises his sword to behead yeongpo, the queen throws herself before yeongpo and begs daeso to keep yeongpo alive for her. daeso is furious but leaves, after telling the guards to throw yeongpo in the prison.
mudeok relates news of jumong saving daeso and daeso almost killing yeongpo to lady yoohwa who is surprised. the trio watch jumong and wonder how hard he must be feeling inside to have to save daeso under such circumstance. mari states jumong has won daeso's trust and now he just needs to wait for more opportunity, but ohyi says jumong will soon be in han and before any opportunity can come he'll be killed by the hans.
daeso summons jumong to his room, and daeso offers jumong a drink and tells jumong he owes him big now. jumong asks daeso to spare yeongpo's life, but daeso says he cannot forgive yeongpo despite having to forgive him many times in the past. daeso then tells jumong hyeonto city will soon send army men to escort jumong to han's chang-an city, and promises to jumong he will do all he can to bring him back to buyeo as soon as possible. jumong then meets yoohwa and yoohwa asks jumong why he didn't use the opportunity to get rid of daeso and why he saved daeso from death instead. jumong responds if daeso died, then gyeru would've been the one to be blamed and buyeo would've had to attack gyeru. yoohwa sighs about the future of buyeo, to see that a brother is trying to kill another brother. yoohwa goes to geumwa who is drinking and geumwa sighs about the happenings and blames it all on himself saying he is responsible for making daeso and yeongpo such extremes. the queen is lamenting her woes at her brother, who asks her to calm down, but the queen says she can't as yeongpo might die as daeso won't back down easily, and she orders him to find a way to save yeongpo.
haochen reports to yang seolran that daeso is just drinking alone, and yang seolran says she will go see him as he must be in deep shock. yang seolran goes to daeso and tells him she can imagine how he must be feeling, as he must be in pain trying to decide what to do with yeongpo. daeso says if she understands she should just leave him alone, but yang seolran says not to waver any longer and just get rid of yeongpo, saying the world must be laughing at buyeo's throne thus daeso must kill yeongpo in order to save his reign. daeso says he will take care of it and yang seolran continues to push for her point, but daeso yells at her saying she is disrespectful and yang seolran apologizes if she made his heart dizzy. the queen goes to see yeongpo in the prison and weeps asking why he did such a foolish thing and yeongpo says he knows he did something that is punishable by death but asks her to save him and to talk to daeso cuz he doesn't want to die like this.
in gyeru, soseono remembers daeso's words telling her jumong is headed for chang-ahn but before he goes there as hostage he will wed yesoya who saved him, thus it is soseono's turn to understand how daeso felt. next, sayong comes in and tells soseono that yeongpo used dochi to try to kill daeso, but jumong saved daeso at the critical stage, and soseono asks if that is really true. sayong says there was reason enough for him to do that. soseono goes out to the courtyard and remembers sayong's words, telling her jumong saved daeso's life because he didn't want gyeru to be blamed falsely. just then wootae arrives and tells soseono someone in the base saw yeonchaeryeong visiting song yang and there's a possibility that yeonchaeryeong might be song yang's spy.
yeonchaeryeong sees warriors pass by and sayong arrives to tell her the warriors are assassins who will attack song yang. next, yeonchaeryeong summons her maid to deliver a message to song yang, but song yang's messenger is surrounded by wootae and his men and wootae gets a hold of the message from yeonchaeryeong. wootae goes to the maid who begs for her life, and wootae says she needn't be afraid cuz he will spare her life, but she is not to appear before yeonchaeryeong before his approval and the maid agrees. sosoeno reads the message and tells wootae she will take care of it but asks wootae to keep it a secret, especially from her father.
yeonchaeryeong's son chansoo asks his mother if she had to be that extreme, but yeonchaeryeong tells him to shut up cuz she's doing what she can to make him gyeru's chief. yeonchaeryeong then worries that her maid hasn't returned, but just then sosoeno comes. soseono asks chansoo to step out for a while, and soseono shows yeonchaeryeong the message she almost sent to song yang. yeonchaeryeong says she was merely trying to stop the event cuz she thought it was brash to assassinate songyang, and soseono says as the chief of gyeru she could get rid of yeonchaeryeong through this incident but she will forgive her this time because of her father and warns her not to repeat the same. soseono goes outside and faints after pain in her stomach. yeomieul is summoned and sayong tells her soseono fainted suddenly and they don't know the reason. yeomieul checks on soseono and appears surprised. yeontabal and wootae are waiting outside soseono's room waiting for yeomieul and yeomieul comes out to tell them soseono is with child, but wootae appears solemn, even when sayong congratulates him. wootae goes to soseono and the two are alone. wootae grabs her hand and calls her wife, but does not say more...
meanwhile in hyeonto, yang jeong sends men to take jumong to han nation, and next, naru reports to jumong the men have arrives thus jumong should prepare himself. jumong tells the trio the men from hyeonto have arrived to take him to chang-ahn and it is now time for them to say goodbye. the trio reply they will go with him, even though they don't know why he saved daeso or insists on going to han nation.
jumong says he only gave them pain when they believed and served him, and apologizes, but mari and hyeobpo reply without jumong they would've not have lived a meaningful life without knowing the meaning of damul warrior and they ask jumong to allow them to continue serving him. meanwhile, songju reports to geumwa that the men from hyeonto have arrived to take jumong away, and musong reports the recent happenings to mopalmo, when jumong comes to the iron factory and tells mopalmo he is working hard. jumong says he's come to bid farewell to him, and musong asks if jumong is really going to han nation, and mopalmo asks if jumong must go there and jumong sits down with them with wine and food... mopalmo asks to go with him since he has no reason to live in buyeo without jumong, and musong scoffs him for acting like a child, and jumong replies any person can face a crisis and hardship and it is through that time that a person can get stronger and learn to accomplish greater deeds.. thus this is that time for him and mopalmo. jumong tells mopalmo no matter what happens he must stay alive, and mopalmo vows to wait for the day that jumong comes back safely as his life is already jumong's. musong vows to do that same, and hyeobpo teases musong saying how he can make that promise when he's already been kidnapped by song yang and musong says that will not happen again. mopalmo toasts to the trio too and asks him to look well after jumong.
next jumong goes to yoohwa who says she heard about the men who've come from hyeonto, and she will not make it more difficult for him, but she has a request for him, which is to marry yesoya before he leaves for chang-ahn. yoohwa tells jumong he will be in chang-an for sometime thus it will be good for him and yesoya to help each other cope with loneliness. yoohwa says she doesn't know how jumong feels toward yesoya but asks him to agree to her request. jumong goes out and remembers his last meeting with soseono when she stated she will try hard to forget everything about him and that jumong should stop lingering and find the path he should go on...
meanwhile yesoya goes out of the palace to shop around the markets in town, when a man from her hometown spots her out. the man goes and reports the sighting to seol-tak who once killed yesoya's father. when yesoya and her maid are walking back, seoltak and his men surround her and asks her what she is doing so far away from hometown, and tells her he's not felt at peace since she left and tells her to return with him now. seoltak orders his men to capture yesoya. next, mari tells jumong about yesoya's kidnap by seoltak and jumong rushes out with the trio to look for her. the trio show jumong the path that leads to hanbaek and they position themselves toward that direction. jumong and the trio catch up the seoltak and yesoya and jumong watches as the men are dragging yesoya who is tied up in ropes. jumong pulls out his bow and arrow and shoots arrows toward seoltak's men. next jumong and the trio draw their swords and attack the men. jumong and the trio slash many of the men to death and seoltak flees with few remaining men, while jumong successfully saves yesoya. jumong frees her bonds and tells her he did not realize seoltak would come all the way to buyeo, and apologizes for his short-thinking. yesoya in turn apologizes for her trouble and the two exchange more looks. back in the palace jumong makes up his mind about his mother's request for him to marry yesoya.. and meanwhile, yesoya asks her maid when jumong is leaving and the maid replies soon, since the men who are escorting him are already here.
yesoya dismisses her maid and jumong arrives. yesoya says she will prepare tea but jumong says there's no need and asks her to sit with him. yesoya says she heard he's leaving for chang-an soon and tells him not to worry about her. jumong says if she will approve, he will wed her and go to chang-an together. yesoya is touched and smiles, then says to her it is a welcoming request but she is humble and she does not want to give him more baggage. jumong says yesoya is his life savior and how is it that she is his baggage? jumong then says before he met yesoya, he had a woman named soseono in his heart but their fate was unfulfilled, and even though in his heart soseono is the only one there still, it is useless lingering onto a fate what is not possible thus he will try hard to get rid of her from his heart...
the queen goes to the oracles and asks them to do something to save yeongpo. next naru reports to daeso the oracles have asked to see him and that it seems to concern yeongpo. daeso says to tell them to leave, since they must have come at the queen's request and since his mind is already made up. naru goes out and tells the oracles to leave and they leave after being upset. the oracles tell the queen daeso won't meet with them, and the queen mocks the oracle's power. mawuryeong says if even the queen mocks them then who will respect them, and warns the queen not to forget that she is one who serves the gods.
the queen's brother urges budeukbul to talk to daeso since budeukbul is daeso's most trusted advisor, and when budeukbul says nothing the queen's brother asks the other ministers if they aren't talking at all. the ministers say they cannot go against daeso and the queen's brother then asks the head general heukchi maybe he should go talk to daeso, but heukchi says he will not approve yeongpo's behavior as a son should not go against his father, and a brother should not kill another brother.
just then a messenger arrives to tell budeukbul king geumwa has summoned him.
budeukbul goes to geumwa and geumwa says it had been a long time since they sat down together and geumwa asks budeukbul if he is avoiding him on purpose, and budeukbul says he is too ashamed to come before geumwa. geumwa laughs mockingly and budeukbul says he realizes what he did to support daeso is not forgivable. geumwa then tells budeukbul he recognizes his skills despite and asks budeukbul to help him stop yeongpo from getting killed, on the account that he was once geumwa's most trusted advisor. geumwa says though everyone says no one can dissuade daeso, he believes budeukbul has that power and geumwa laughs... budeukbul goes out and visits the queen next budeukbul sits down w/ the queen and tells the queen what daeso wants is to prevent what happened from happening again and the queen says she already knows that, and budeukbul says there is only one way to save yeongpo, which is to send yeongpo to han nation in lieu of jumong. the queen looks surprised and budeukbul says that is the only way to save yeongpo and satisfy daeso at the same time. the queen then goes to daeso and daeso agrees to see her. the queen asks daeso if he must kill yeongpo and daeso tells her yeongpo is one who tried to kill him and if he keeps him alive then he will do the same again. the queen kneels down and says if daeso cannot forgive yeongo, then he should send yeongpo to han nation instead, saying if yeongpo dies she will die too.
daeso tells naru to bring yeongpo before him yeongpo is terrified. yeongpo is brought before daeso and yeongpo kneels begging for his life and daeso calls him a pathetic fool for begging for his life and daeso says for their mother who is suffering because of a pathetic and immature son like yeongpo. he will spare his life, and yeongpo thanks daeso saying he will serve him for the rest of his life, and daeso says yeongpo will need to go to chang-an and yeongpo complains but daeso says if he doesn't want to go to chang-an then he will slash his head and yeongpo says he will accept it. daeso leaves, and the queen comes to yeongpo and orders him to be freed from the bonds as she weeps. yoohwa goes to geumwa and tells him yeongpo will be sent to han nation instead of jumong and geumwa says that is a good thing since yeongpo won't die now and jumong won't go to han anymore.
next jumong is summoned to daeso and daeso says yeongpo is going to han instead of him, and says after jumong saved his life and agreed without complaint to go to han nation, daeso now trusts jumong and will hand over big tasks to jumong and he will throw a big wedding bash for him and in the future, jumong will be daeso's right arm and together they will accomplish great things for buyeo.
ep. 43:
in gyeru, sayong reports to wootae a wedding invitation came for them to attend prince jumong's wedding.
sayong tells wootae and yeontabal that daeso invited all the leaders from buyeo's neighboring nations to show off his reign and if they don't attend it will be as if they disrespect daeso. sayong suggests wootae should attend since soseono is not feeling well, but yeontabal says soseono is gyeru's chief thus she should attend but he wants wootae to talk to soseono. meanwhile soseono sends yeonchaeryeong and chansoo to hyeonto to mend the trouble with their merchant group there and soseono tells her aunt this is a trial for her to prove her worth and if they don't succeed yeonchaeryeong should prepare to give up her high position in gyeru. gyepil tells soseono not to work so hard and to be careful of her body and child she's carrying and soseono says she is alright. soseono goes to wootae and wootae tells her jumong is getting married and that daeso has invited all the neighboring nations thus soseono should attend as gyeru's chief but since she is pregnant he will go in her place, but soseono says she will attend cuz she does not want daeso to mock her for missing the wedding and she wants see jumong marry so she can cut all ties with jumong.
in buyeo, yoohwa is talking to yesoya and jumong before the big day, and yoohwa tells yesoya she is like a mother to her and yesoya replies she will treat her like her own mother. next, jumong goes to see geumwa who asks jumong how he feels about getting married, and jumong says even though he knows daeso is testing him through the wedding he will win daeso's trust. geumwa says even though daeso is trusting jumong, jumong must be careful of daeso. geumwa then tells jumong after he marries, he should take yesoya to jeonbujan, where haemosu's body is. jumong leaves, and is teary when he thinks about his real father haemosu... yang jeong from hyeonto arrive in buyeo to attend the wedding, and he is greeted by daeso and yang seolran. next, song yang, soseono, wootae, and the rest of the jolbon leaders arrive and daeso welcomes them.
next, it is the wedding ceremony of jumong and yesoya, and everyone's seated awaiting for the bride and the groom to march in. jumong and yesoya pass by the guests and jumong exchanges look with soseono who is watching with sorrowful eyes.. jumong adn yesoya appear before the holy shrine and they bow before the gods as they wed. next, a feast is thrown for all those in the palace, and the trio appear gloomy as they drink.. ohyi mentions soseono's look and mari tells him not to bring her up and hyeobpo wonders about their twisted fate... jumong summons songju and tells him he heard from geumwa about haemosu's grave in jeonbujan, and asks songju to bring him there, but songju kneels before jumong and begs him to kill him. songju tells jumong that daeso used haemosu's head to make a deal with yangjeong from hyeonto and songju asks jumong to kill him for not withstanding daeso and naru's threat. jumong is dismayed and goes out on horse alone toward jeonbujan... and jumong touches the ground and remembers geumwa's words that he buried haemosu under the rocks because haemosu once said he would fight for the migrants even if he died and became a rock. jumong weeps and is overwhelmed with anger and sadness as he remembers haemosu and what daeso had done to him..
meanwhile daeso and yang seolran are sitting with yang jeong and yang jeong tells them a news that is good for buyeo but not so good for han nation. yang jeong tells them imdun and jimbeon are in a state that cannot even protect their own people and the han imperial has put the blame on yang jeong, thus yang jeong asks daeso to send all the migrants in buyeo to hyeonto. daeso says the migrants have already settled in buyeo and what would the people think of him if he did that now and asks yang jeong to reconsider but yang jeong won't back down saying it was already agreed on before. when daeso is alone with yang seolran daeso asks her to help him persuade her father but seolran urges daeso to follow her father's wish for daeso should be more worried about han nation than the ppl of buyeo. next, seolran goes to her father and tells yang jeong not to worry about daeso obeying him. yang jeong asks about jumong next and seolran says jumong seems to listen to daeso these days and daeso seems to believe in jumong but she is still hesistant to believe in jumong. yang jeong asks why and seolran reveals jumong and daeso are of different father, and jumong's real father is not geumwa, but rather it is haemosu.
jumong summons naru and the two of them go out to the courtyard, where jumong watches in fury as yang jeong and yang seolran passy by. jumong goes to daeso and daeso asks him if he slept well with dreams, and jumong says he was too nervous from the wedding so he slept deeply without dreaming..
daeso then tells jumong yang jeong wants the migrants from imdun and jimbeon be sent to hyeonto and even though he is against it he cannot go against that request for fear of going to war with han again, and daeso sighs and asks jumong to help him. daeso asks jumong to be in charge of brining he migrants to hyeonto and jumong is speechless.
daeso announces the matter of migrants in court and tells everyone to support jumong who is in charge of it. yoohwa is upset and worried before geumwa about daeso wanting to send migrants to hyeonto and she is angry when she is told that jumong agreed to be in charge of that mission. yoohwa summons jumong and jumong asks her to believe in him. the trio cannot believe jumong's decision and demands jumong not to do what daeso wants and tells jumong they had believe in jumong but if he goes through with this they will leave him. jumong speaks and tells them to leave him in that case. the trio go out of the palace and drink as they express their anger.. musong and mopalmo arrive and ask them if it's true that jumong will be sending the migrants to han nation and the trio say it is true. mopalmo cannot believe it but mari says though unbelieveable it is true and jumong has become daeso's puppet thus they will leave jumong now.
mopalmo tells musong jumong is not that kind of person and if he made that decision he must have ample reason. musong says jumong is just accepting his fate and wants to live peacefully under daeso...
the trio return and catch up to jumong in the palace. mari tells jumong they will leave him now as he wanted, and jumong thanks them and tells them to watch over their bodies. with that jumong leaves, and the trio are appalled at how lightly jumong is treating the matter and they become furious. next, jumong goes to naru and the guards and tells them they will go out of the palace to capture all the migrants who came from imdun and jimbeon, and the guards begin capturing the gojoseon migrants violently.. with jumong watching in silence.... one of the migrant man tries to escape and the trio watch as the guards beat him up. ohyi tries to stop them, but mari and hyeobpo grabs him and tells him they should leave without making a scene.
naru and jumong return to the palace and report to daeso they have thus captured 200 migrants and even though they are about 1000 many of them are living in the mountains and hiding and it will be hard to find them all. daeso asks how many he intends to find and jumong says he will be satisfied at 500 and daeso says to go ahead and tells jumong he will not forget jumong's contribution after he succeeds.
hyeopbo arrives in gyeru, and he is met by sayong who tells hyeopbo he had been heart-ached a lot thinking he may not see him again after all that's happened and hyeopbo says he too was sad, and sayong then asks him what he is doing here and hyeobpo gets teary... sayong goes to soseono and tells her jumong is in the process of capturing gojoseon migrants to send them to han nation, and soseono asks if he heard wrong, but sayong says he just talked to hyeopbo who's left jumong because of it. soseono asks yeomieul if it's strange that jumong would be doing this when he risked his life to save the very migrants previously and yeomieul says jumong must be preparing to leave buyeo. soseono is confused, and yeomieul tells her jumong is haemosu's blood and he is surely preparing something else... hyeobpo meets with gyepil and yangtak and yangtak gives him the task of gyeru's body guard since he looks strong and hyeopbo agrees thanking for the opportunity.
meanwhile in buyeo, naru goes out to the mountainside and catches more migrants, including an old man who helped jumong fight in the war against imdun and jimbeon. the old migrant calls out jumong and asks him how jumong can do this.. and that general haemosu must be weeping.. but naru slaps the old man and orders the newly captured to be taken away. the man is dragged away as he calls out jumong...
it is nighttime and jumong who has not said much throughout the ordeal remains solemn and he thinks alone more.. daeso goes to the queen who asks about the migrant matter and daeso says jumong is taking good care of it and the queen says she feels unsettled by that as jumong has changed too much, but daeso says not to worry as jumong is now his faithful assistant, and daeso asks his mother to put away her suspicion toward jumong at last. geumwa appears troubled and jumong arrives. geumwa asks jumong if he prepared an opportunity, and jumong says he will take the migrants and leave buyeo. geumwa asks if he is confident and jumong says yes since daeso trusts him right now. geumwa asks jumong where he will go, and jumong says he is not sure but he will take them and rebuild damul warriors. jumong goes to yoohwa who is happy to hear about jumong's real plan and jumong asks yoohwa to go with her, and yoohwa says she cannot leave the king, but jumong says if she remains daeso will harm her and he cannot leave buyeo if he leaves yoohwa in buyeo. next jumong goes back to his room and talks to yesoya, and jumong tells yesoya he will soon leave buyeo. yesoya is surprised, and jumong tells her he is taking the migrants away from buyeo and he will never return again. yesoya asks if the king and yoohwa already know and jumong replies yes, and that there are only a few days before he leaves thus she should prepare her heart.
ohyi and mari are spending their time gambling and are met with conman and they are entangled in a brawl when jumong arrives and yells to stop. jumong draws his sword and tells the other men to leave, and jumong tells mari and ohyi he has something to say to them. mari and ohyi scoff and mari says they have nothing to say to him and they're leaving, but jumong calls them to stop and tells them he needs their help.
jumong goes over his plan with mari and ohyi and mari is shocked ot hear this. jumong says he knows how heartbroken they must have been but he could not give it away before this. jumong asks if they will help him and mari apologizes for not trusting jumong til the end. jumong asks about hyeopbo and mari says he went to gyeru and jumong says to hurry and send someone to get him back, and mari agrees.
jumong meets with geumwa again, and jumong tells geumwa he will take the migrants away like offenders and go another direction. jumong then tells geumwa there's something he hasn't been able to discuss with him, and geumwa asks if he is asking about yoohwa. jumong apologizes and says yoohwa would not be able to ask geumwa about leaving, and jumong apologizes to geumwa again for discussing the matter. geumwa tells jumong to escort yoohwa and leave. geumwa goes back to his chamber and drinks alone, when yoohwa arrives.. yoohwa tells geumwa he shouldn't drink so much as he is still recovering and geumwa says he's okay, and geumwa then tells yoohwa they have been together for many decades and she has suffered a lot these decades, from losing her habaek group, to reuniting to haemosu and losing him like that, and for all the hardships she's endured for jumong.. yoohwa is teary and asks him why he's bringing that up, and geumwa expresses sorrow that he has not given her a peaceful life when she deserves to have a good life, and geumwa apologizes for failing to protect haemosu, and for not giving yoohwa a good life, and geumwa asks yoohwa to leave with jumong. yoohwa calls out to the king and geumwa says if she remains it will be dangerous, and yoohwa says she cannot go anywhere without the king and she will remain by the king even as a corpse, and geumwa says if yoohwa doesn't go with jumong then jumong won't be able to leave buyeo, and yoohwa says jumong has yesoya by his side, but geumwa has no one and both are teary.. and geumwa puts his hand over hers...
the trio are meeting with mopalmo and musong about jumong's plan and musong wonders if mudeok the maid is going too. mopalmo says of course since yoohwa is leaving then mudeok wll go too. mari tells musong and mopalmo they must keep the news top secret before they leave buyeo...
meanwhile in gyeru, hyeopbo parts with sayong and tells him something must have happened for ohyi and mari to look for him so urgently and sayong smiles and tells him to be careful. hyeopbo says he'll come right back if it's nothing urgent and he leaves... wootae calls sayong to a meeting, and yangtak tells everyone song yang has ordered gyeru to prepare many items for hyeonto including horse and silk, and wootae says they don't have that much in their group, and yeontabal says song yang must already know that. sayong believes song yang is just creating excuse to put gyeru on the spot and soseono wants to send a message to song yang to say they cannot prepare what he asked but yangtak says that is not such a good idea for now. soseono is thinking alone at night and yeontabal tells soseono song yang is playing with her.. next yangtak meets with song yang and tells him yeonchaeryeong is on her way back from chang-an and song yang says to make yeonchaeryeong chief after she returns and yangtak agrees.
in buyeo, jumong sends naru away and is met by yang seolran. yang seolran compliments jumong and jumong says he is merely carrying out daeso's order and seolran says her father is thankful too, and seolran asks what he is really thinking since he at once time went to war to protect the very migrants and jumong says he is just doing his job and leaves. seolran tells her man haochen to keep an eye on jumong as she cannot feel at peace about jumong. jumong goes to daeso and tells him they have rounded enough migrants now. daeso says the should send them to hyeonto next, and jumong asks daeso to allow him to personally send the migrants to hyeonto but daeso says that is a difficult job and naru should do it, but jumong asks daeso to allow him to go cuz he wants to win daeso's acknowledgement by personally carrying out the mission completely, and daeso agrees.
jumong ep. 44:
jumong and the trio arrive in refugee camp and check on the conditions. ohyi reports to jumong there are a total of 50 soldiers watching the refugees and jumong asks the trio to find maneul, the elderly gojoseon remnant who fought with them in war with jinbeon and imdun. they find out maneul is badly injured and is laying in the bed about to die. jumong tells maneul he will take the refugees away from buyeo and build together a new empire and asks maneul to regain his strength and to help him. maneul says he sees haemosu's image in jumong, and begs jumong to rebuild the glory of damul warriors, and with that as his last words the old man stops breathing.
mawuryeong sees the 3-legged bird in her vision and warns the queen to get rid of jumong or else daeso's future will be ruined when the day comes for the 3-legged bird to block buyeo. the queen's maid urges the queen to tell everything to daeso but the queen is hesistant as daeso trusts jumong so much now.
jumong visits yoohwa who says the last thing she can do for the king after his caring for her and jumong all these years is to stay with him now. jumong says if she doesn't leave w/ him then she may never see him again, and yoohwa says she knows but if she leaves now the king is too pitiful. next, jumong tells mopalmo they must have swords, thus mopalmo says he will go into the mountains and bring with him a trustworthy group of people to start manufacturing swords. musong asks about yoohwa, and just then yangseolran's servant haochen spies on them. next musong goes and asks mudeok why yoohwa isn't going for it would be dangerous for yoohwa to stay. musong then asks mudeok to go with him but mudeok says she can't and tells musong as long as the king is around daeso won't harm yoohwa, and mudeok leaves. haochen continues to follow jumong around and jumong catches on that he is being followed and draws his sword out to haochen's throat asking if he is looking for him. jumong asks haochen why he is spying on him and who asks him to do so but haochen says nothing. jumong warns him if haochen says nothing he will slash his throat.
next, yangseolran's maid calls for her to come out to the courtyard and yangseolran steps out to discover jumong with his sword on haochen's throat. yangseolran asks jumong what offensive behavior he is doing and jumong says it is offensive for haochen to follow him and he must find out why haochen did so. jumong asks yangseolran if she is using haochen as a spy and yangseolran is upset. jumong warns her even though she is daeso's wife she is also the daughter of yangjeong and a han, and if he discovers such behavior from her again he will treat it as a spy from han. jumong leaves and yangseolran slaps haochen and tells him to continue to follow jumong and if he gets caught again she will slash haochen's throat herself.
jumong tells the trio yangseolran is watching them and tells everyone to be careful. next the foursome go over their plan with their maps and jumong tells them they will make a turn in ju-ahn and ohyi asks where jumong will lead them afterwards, and jumong says they will gather more refugees and head toward bongae mountain. jumong tells the trio to go to bongae mountain first to spock out where they can camp.
meanwhile the queen tells daeso the 3-legged bird has reappeared in the oracle's sighting and since haemosu is dead the 3-legged bird must be jumong, thus this means jumong might be scheming something. daeso mocks mawuryeong's skills as oracle and tells the queen she shouldn't believe mawuryeong's words. the queen states even though mawuryeong is weak in strength they cannot ignore her words since she is still an oracle. daeso insists jumong is trustworthy for he has saved his life, and the queen also insists on telling daeso not to ignore mawuryeong's warning.
yoohwa summons yesoya and asks her if jumong has said he is leaving buyeo and yesoya replies yes. yoohwa tells yesoya she will remain in buyeo to serve the king, thus after jumong and yesoya leave they may never see each other again. yesoya asks how can she and jumong leave buyeo without yoohwa and yoohwa says that is already set and thus not to be discussed again. yoohwa tells yesoya jumong is not leaving buyeo to save the migrants alone, but that he is leaving buyeo to set a new nation to give new light to the past empire and lost land. yoohwa says it is not easy to build a new nation but that is jumong's fate and asks yesoya to be strong with him, and yesoya agrees. jumong takes out the silk banner with 3-legged imprint given to him by yeomieul, and jumong remembers yeomieul's words that although haemosu has passed away the 3-legged bird has not disappeared thus jumong who is haemosu's blood is now the 3-legged bird, and the most important meaning of it all is that the 3-legged bird cannot survive in buyeo and it must escape from buyeo and build yet another nation which is bigger than buyeo, and jumong is the one who must set the new nation of 3-legged bird.
just then daeso arrives outside jumong's corridor and jumong quickly puts away the banner and tells daeso to come inside. daeso comes in and says he just stopped by as he was out and about getting fresh air. daeso asks jumong if the refugees are ready to go and jumong says yes and all he needs is daeso's words before they depart. daeso asks if jumong is speaking much to geumwa lately and jumong says no and daeso says it must be so since jumong is helping daeso so much now. jumong comments it is time for king geumwa to put the throne in daeso's hands for good and daeso is touched, and states he has put too much work in jumong's hands, and the trip to chang-an escorting refugees should be done by naru instead and jumong should take a less tiring task inside the palace. jumong says he can work on the other task after he comes back from chang-an but daeso insists and jumong agrees as he has no choice, and afterwards jumong is in troubled thoughts wondering how he will escape now...
jumong goes to see king geumwa and asks about geumwa's health. geumwa replies it is good and asks about the task of refugees, and jumong says daeso has suddenly changed his mind about letting jumong go on the trip to chang-an and jumong wonders if daeso is suspicious of anything. the king says jumong must find a new plan now.. meanwhile the trio have gone out to spock out a new place for them for the future, and the trio return to buyeo to inform jumong of their finding. the trio asks when they will leave, and jumong says a problem has occured as daeso put the matter of refugees in naru's hands and he wasn't able to persuade him to change his mind for fear of putting more suspicious thought in daeso's head.
jumong urges the trio to be watchful of their movements until they devise a new plan.
meanwhile in chang-ahn, yeongpo arrives as hostage and is greated by yang jeong who tells yeongpo if he needs anything he should ask for him in hyeonto. yang jeong then calls for a man named majin, and tells yeongpo majin will serve him from now on. majin escorts yeongpo to his new living corridor and summons new palace maids for yeongpo and yeongpo expresses discontent in the maids and majin dismisses them and says he will find prettier maids for yeongpo in no time. yeongpo asks majin how long he thinks he will need to stay in han as hostage, and majin assures yeongpo he is not a hostage and he should think of it as an opportunity.
in gyeru, soseono is in deep thoughts over the trouble of songyang, when sayong arrives and asks if she's thought of any solutions to songyang's threats. sayong suggests he has a solution and soseono asks for detail. sayong says soseono should make a deal w/ buyeo with the salt from gosan nation. soseono sends gyepil to go and find a man from haengin nation whom they dealt with before. next, soseono goes to biryu to meet with songyang. songyang asks soseono if she has prepared well the items they need to send to buyeo, and soseono says gyeru will deal with buyeo directly instead, thus songyang needn't worry. songyang says if she cannot be responsible for her words it will be big trouble for jolbon, and soseono says if she fails she will give up her position as chief of gyeru, and songyang agrees to let her deal with buyeo directly about jolbon's offering for buyeo. soseono leaves, and songyang's man wonders what soseono is up to but songyang is not too worried. next, general baemang from haengin nation arrives in gyeru and meets with soseono.
after talking with soseono, baemang asks soseono if she is asking him to go and fight in buyeo, but soseono says she is not asking him to go fight and that gyeru is in danger and needs his help and he will benefit greatly in the future. baemang says he has benefitted from her in the past and he will help her now and asks her how. in buyeo, musong is lamenting about having to part with mudeok and tells mopalmo to leave without him, but mopalmo urges musong to act like a real man and forget about the girl. just then wootae arrives and asks mopalmo to help him meet with jumong.
wootae meets jumong outside the palace gates, and jumong asks about yeontabal and soseono's welfare and wootae says they are well. jumong asks why wootae is here and wootae says he needs jumong's permission since soseono needs salt from gosan nation. jumong says if soseono needs it she needn't ask for his permission, but wootae says the gosan salt is under jumong's name thus they should get his permission, but jumong says soseono was the one who made the access to gosan salt possible thus she is free to use it.
wootae thanks him saying it will benefit gyeru greatly.... afterwards jumong thinks over the matter and goes to see king geumwa.
jumong tells geumwa the only option now is to use army to help refugees escape, but geumwa and yoohwa ask how. yeonchaeryeong and chansu return to gyeru from chang-an and yangtak tells them songyang has been harrassing sosoeno and in no time she will have to give up her position. wootae returns to gyeru and tells sosoeno jumong has given his permission, and soseono tells sayong to contact baemang immediately.
yeomieul is training her female guards and yeomieul tells yeontabal it is not enough for soseono to manage gyeru, and that soseono will one day reign a faraway nation much bigger than gyeru. yeontabal is surprised and he is more surprised when yeomieul tells him it is time for her to leave gyeru to go and serve the 3-legged bird.
meanwhile in buyeo, king geumwa summons daeso and tells him yoohwa is suffering from over-exhaustion and he wants to take her to go on a trip to warm-springs. daeso tells the matter to the queen, and the queen says no way. daeso says the king is going to heal yoohwa, and the queen's brother says it will not be good for the citizens to see the king away from the palace while daeso is in charge.. just then the queen's maid arrives and says it is true that yoohwa is ill. naru informs daeso he is ready to take the refugees to chang-an and daeso says they will have to delay the mission. next, daeso goes to tell the king he has arranged the trip for the king and yoohwa and he will send naru and the palace guards to go with them to protect them. mari informs the news to jumong that naru and the many guards will be away accompanying the king and yoohwa during their trip. mari says things are going according to jumong's plan and jumong says they are still far away from their goal.
jumong goes to yoohwa and yoohwa scolds him for looking emotional when he is ready to go and accomplish a big mission. jumong wishes her a good trip, and yoohwa says from now on he must forget her, the king, and everything about buyeo so he can focus on his new nation, and that is what jumong must do and that is the last thing he can do for her. jumong calls her mother and kneels to bow before her. yoohwa controls her emotions and remains strong, but gives jumong one last embrace.. while fighting back any tears... geumwa gets ready to leave as well and awaits for yoohwa to appear. yoohwa finally comes, escorted by her maid mudeok and jumong. jumong tells yoohwa to come back safely infront of everyone, and tells geumwa to forgive him for not accompanying them, but the king says he will take care of yoohwa thus jumong needn't worry. jumong then calls geumwa, father king, and wishes him good health. the queen speaks up and apologizes to geumwa for not going with him and daeso wishes geumwa and yoohwa a good trip and safe return. next, geumwa and yoohwa get in their horse drawn wagon and daeso gives naru the order to leave. as yoohwa is pulled away on the wagon she exchanges sorrowful look with jumong who is watching her leave with tearful eyes... as the wagon leaves the palace, geumwa watches as yoohwa weeps silently..
jumong tells the trio, mopalmo and musong it is time for them to leave. musong sighs heavily and jumong asks him if he will remain in buyeo but musong says he willl follow jumong. jumong tells everyone to get ready, and haochen watches them from afar. haochen reports what he saw to yangseolran and asks her if they should report it to daeso, but yangseolran says not without evidence first and tells haochen to keep a closer watch. jumong tells yesoya he will leave first, but she is to follow mopalmo to bongae mountain afterwards. yesoya says she got it and jumong warns her it will be a difficult trip, and yesoya says it is nothing compared to what jumong must be suffering and jumong thanks her for trusting in him. yesoya says nothing and jumong goes up to her and embraces her, laying her head on his chest.
daeso is informed that their salt from gosan nation has been seized by robbers. daeso goes and tells jumong to bring an army to go and find their lost salt since if they don't it will put buyeo in dire state. jumong agrees and goes out with the trio, and an group of army. as they leave the palace, jumong orders his group to go toward the refugee camp. jumong tells the camp guard he is taking the refugees to han nation in lieu of naru, but the guard says he never received such order from daeso. jumong asks if he is doubting his words, and the guard asks jumong to wait as he will confirm it with daeso, but jumong slashes his throat to death and orders his men to follow hid lead at once.
jumong ep. 45:
jumong tells the trio it will only take at most a day for the buyeo palace to figure out they have taken the refugees away, thus they must move fast. thus mari and hyeobpo instruct the other guards where to go once they leave. meanwhile ohyi tells jumong they are ready to depart. jumong tells the refugees they are leaving for han nation's chang-ahn city, and if anyone tries to fight them they will be punished. jumong orders the elderly and the youth to be gathered first and the refugees are scattered about in horror.
the king's bodyguard songju sees jumong and the refugees depart and songju goes to geumwa to report about the news, but naru witnesses songju going into geumwa's tent and becomes suspicious. geumwa tells songju and yoohwa the palace will find out about it in the morning and hopes that jumong will be able to go far with his group. yoohwa says it will be tough to get anywhere too far with elderly and youth among them, but songju says he did not see jumong with elderly and youth thus jumong must have made different arrangements. geumwa says they need to take naru away as far from buyeo as possible and calls naru in to tell him they are moving to the warm springs in taebon mountain by haengin nation. naru replies there are plenty of warm springs closer to buyeo and they needn't go that far, but geumwa draws his sword and places it on naru's throat and warns him not to object his wish.
yesoya's maid helps yesoya attempt escape the palace at night, but she is stopped by yang seolran's man, haochen, who asks yesoya where she is headed this deep into the night, and yesoya tells him to move for it is none of his business where she is headed. haochen orders his men to capture her despite her complaint.
mopalmo and musong are awaiting outside the palace and begin worrying when yesoya doesn't show at the agreed upon time. mopalmo says they need to go inside the palace and musong objects and moplamo goes in anyway and musong follows. meanwhile inside the palace, yesoya is brought before yang seolran and haochen reports to seolran that he caught her trying to escape. seolran asks soya where she was going and who she was meeting and soya replies she was just getting some fresh air. seolran asks to open her bundle and asks her where she is headed with her clothes packed. soya tells seolran it is none of her business, and tells seolran if she doesn't let her go right away she will report seolran's offending behavior to the king. seolran mocks soya and asks her doesn't she know who is in charge and orders haochen to keep soya under house-arrest, and to keep it a secret from daeso until she says otherwise. soya's maid is worried about mopalmo outside the palace but soya cannot do anything. musong spies around and tells mopalmo something must have gone wrong for sure, since soya's room is being guarded... musong says they must leave for their safely, but mopalmo says he won't be able to face jumong unless he brings yesoya with them.
daeso meets with his subjects and scolds general heukchi for always wanting to use war to solve everything, telling him even if they win in a war, a war is big burden to buyeo regardless and budeukbul and the rest of the ministers agree with daeso's assessment. just then, a guard comes in and reports to daeso prince jumong has taken the migrants toward hyeonto fortress. daeso orders the guard to investigate more, and next seolran reports to daeso she has captured yesoya who was trying to escape and for sure jumong has been scheming something. daeso orders mopalmo to be captured and the army men are searching everywhere for mopalmo. the iron factory supervisor reports mopalmo has not been seen since daytime, and just then mopalmo and musong overhear the palace army talking about going outside the palace in search for mopalmo. musong urges mopalmo to leave right away but mopalmo is still worried about yesoya. daeso finds out mopalmo is missing too and becomes furious, and orders army to be prepared and he will lead them out himself.
jumong is leading the group of refugees away from buyeo throughout the night and an officer pleads to rest for a while as the men on foot are weary, but jumong insists on continuing their trip.. until early dusk, jumong signals the trio secretly, and hyeopbo yells out for everyone to break momentarily. next, jumong tells the trio to get the guards ready, and jumong faces daeso's officers and with his sword pointing at them, jumong tells them to throw away their weapon and to kneel down. jumong then goes to the refugees and announces himself as buyeo's prince jumong, but after this moment he will be the head general of damul warrior like haemosu general, and that he is not leading them to han nation, but to lead to to build a new nation together. the migrants stand and cheer at this, and daeso's officer asks jumong why he is doing this.
jumong says he doesn't wish to kill him thus he is to return to buyeo immediately with his group.
meanwhile, daeso has left the palace with a group of army men and studies the map to determine that jumong has either gone to chubal or chuwang. daeso states in order to cross chuwang they must cross the water thus they should go toward chubal instead. jumong and his group arrive by chuwang instead and jumong tells the trio he has arranged for boats at pipal dock and jumong tells the trio to let the refugees cross first, while jumong and the trio fight off any oncoming soldiers. ohyi replies they already fought off steel warriors together there is no one they cannot defeat now. it is night time and jumong, the trio, and a few guards ambush daeso and his army as they pass by... jumong shoots an arrow toward daeso and daeso pulls his horse upward to escape the sword.... jumong tells his group to hide and daeso's army search through the grassland.. the two groups begin fighting with swords, when daeso appears again and watches jumong in battle. daeso gets off his horse and runs toward jumong. the two men exchange swords and jumong slahes daeso's arm.. just then ohyi reports to jumong more army are coming thus they must escape immediately....
at pipal dock, the refugees are being loaded onto boats one by one and jumong and the trio arrive...
jumong watches the many men get into the boats and tells the trio to wait with him until all the migrants have gotten into the boats... but just then daeso is following jumong's trails with his army men.. and daeso arrives by the docks just as the boats take off.. jumong and the trio are still by the dock waiting for their boat to comeback, when daeso approaches. jumong and the rest of the guards finally get into the boat and the boat takes off.. when daeso stands by the dock and watches as jumong leaves. daeso's army begins shooting arrows at them, but the arrows land in the water instead... jumong gets his bow out and successfully shoots a few of daeso's army men to death... and daeso who is furious asks a boat to be brought in. his subject reports all the boats are on the other side of the river and they must go back to buyeo to strategize first. daeso's arm begins to bleed more and daeso is fury and speechless...
jumong successfully crosses the river and orders hyeopbo to take the refugees to bongae mountain, while jumong waits for mopalmo. after jumong leaves, hyeobpo gathers the refugees are takes off.... jumong, mari and ohyi reunite with mopalmo and musong, but mari asks where yesoya is, and mopalmo replies they failed to bring her here... jumong is shocked and mari asks to explain. musong tells them yesoya was kept house-arrest, and that the guards were searching everywhere for mopalmo thus they couldn't do anything. mopalmo asks to be killed, and ohyi yells at them asking how they could leave soya behind... ohyi and mari tell jumong they will go and save yesoya, but jumong walks away and thinks alone....
jumong remembers haemosu's words to him, telling him not to fail in protecting the woman by him like haemosu did, and how can a man save many if he fails to protect even the one closeby. jumong then remembers yoohwa's words telling him not to make her wait like she waited for such a long time for haemosu... jumong makes up her decision, and tells the trio they should leave for bongae mountain together. mari objects, but jumong states it is more important to protect the migrants right now. ohyi offers to go and save yesoya by himself, but jumong says if she is alive they will meet again, and tells them to go toward bongae mountain.
back in buyeo palace, the queen tells mawuryeong she was right about jumong, and mawuryeong warns the queen jumong has left but the 3-legged bird will come back and attack buyeo one day... the queen says jumong only has a few hundred migrants and how can he attack buyeo, and mawuryeong reminds her haemosu was able to make han nation nervous with just a few hundred damul warriors, thus jumong being haemosu's blood they cannot think lightly of him as a threat. daeso returns to the palace and asks yesoya to be brought before him. daeso asks yesoya if she knew about jumong's scheme all along, and yesoya says yes. daeso asks where she planned to reunite with jumong and yesoya says nothing. daeso asks again and soya continues to be silent. daeso slaps her violently and tells her if she doesn't answer he will kill her. yesoya asks him to kill her then. daeso draws his sword toward her, but seolran arrives and tells him to calm down and to kill yesoya only after they catch jumong. daeso throws away his sword and leaves, ordering yesoya to be thrown into prision.
in court, while daeso sits on the throne, the queen steps down and scolds memebers of the court asking what in the world were they doing when jumong was planning all this. head general heukchi replies jumong was sent to haengin to solve the salt issue therefore who is to blame for it, but daeso yells and tells them he will kill all those who fail to find jumong... budeukbul speaks up and says they should focus on finding the migrants and jumong first. yang seolran meets with daeso and tells him it is suspicious that king geumwa took yoohwa on a journey during the same time and wonders what geumwa is really up to. naru gets a message from buyeo and naru goes and tells geumwa they must return to buyeo for jumong has stolen the migrants. naru urges geumwa to return at once, but geumwa states he has already relinquished the powers to daeso in the meanwhile thus daeso can take care of it, and he and yoohwa will stay put by the warm springs since yoohwa is not yet recovered. naru says they must return but geumwa raises his voice and asks naru if he wants to die and tells him to leave the tent at once.. naru leaves and yoohwa looks at geumwa and geumwa says as he said jumong would succeed...
in hyeonto, yang jeong has received a message from seolran telling him that jumong has stolen the migrants headed for chang-ahn. yangjeong tells his advisor they will have to put all the blame on daeso, and yang jeong tells his guard dongseon to gather up the migrants in hyeonto and send them to chang-ahn for the time being. yang jeong then tells his advisor jumong might attack hyeonto in the future thus they must be prepared.
meanwhile in gyeru, soryeong tells yeomieul the starchild has had a sighting of 3-legged bird. yeomieul says jumong must left buyeo, and tells soryeong to prepare for their departure from gyeru. yeomieul then goes to see yeontabal and yeontabal tells yeomieul as she predicted, jumong has left buyeo with migrants.
gyepil states the buyeo palace must be in chaos, and yeomieul asks where soseono is, and yeontabal replies soseono is in buyeo for the offering matter. yeomieul then states she will leave gyeru as she had said, and though jumong safely escaped buyeo his danger has only begun as daeso will do everything in his power to go after jumong. yeontabal expresses his regret in her leaving, and yeomieul replies she will come back with jumong one day again, and wishes yeontabal good health until then.
yeonchaeryeong informs song yang that soseono has successfully resolved the offering matter and song yang is dismayed. yeonchaeryeong tells song yang soseono gave buyeo salt which they needed and song yang then states he will have to use force now. meanwhile in chang-an city of
in buyeo palace, soseono arrives before daeso, with wootae and sayong by her side. daeso asks soseono why she is here in buyeo, and soseono states she has brought offering for buyeo from jolbon. daeso wonders how she managed to bring the many items, and soseono states she brought salt instead since that seems to be the needed commodity in buyeo. daeso says nothing and soseono goes on and tells him the salt she brought with her is salt gyeru will sell. daeso scoffs and says gosan nation's salt belongs to jumong and therefore buyeo, but soseono states once gosan nation finds out about jumong's departure from buyeo they will not allow buyeo to draw salt anymore. daeso looks gloom and soseono says her group will be in charge of buyeo's salt import from now on. just then king geumwa returns and daeso goes out and asks geumwa isn't it true that he left buyeo to go to haengin to assist jumong? geumwa laughs and says he did no such thing and daeso vows to capture jumong for sure and that he will slash jumong's throat before geumwa thus geumwa should watch out.
yoohwa's maid mudeok informs yoohwa about yesoya held captive in the prision and yoohwa rushes to her... yoohwa finds yesoya passed out and yoohwa summons the palace doctor who tells yoohwa the news that yesoya is pregnant. yesoya awakes and yoohwa asks how she became a captive....
meanwhile jumong leads the many migrants to their destination, bongae mountain, at last, and jumong gives ohyi a flag to set, and ohyi plants down a yellow flag with 3-legged bird imprint on their land....
jumong proclaims this is the land of damul warrior, and the crowd cheers..
jumong ep. 46:
in their new land, jumong announces to the training damul army that they will attack first the hanbaek village who is under hyeonto's control. jumong tells the trio they must develop a way for them to relay messages to each other fast thus mari says they will build these pathways. jumong then asks about weapon development and hyeobpo replies mopalmo is working on it with his group. jumong visits mopalmo and brings him many remnants to assist in the factory. mopalmo says to wait just a couple of days and he will produce the swords he needs. later, the trio report to jumong they only have 50 or so damul warriors at the current state and wonder if jumong should postpone attacking hanbaek until they are stronger but jumong says to move forward as planned. musong returns from his trip and reports there are about 200 men in hanbaek and jumong says if they develop stronger steel weapons then they can succeed and next the trio and jumong train their warriors into nighthours... musong offers wine from hanbaek to mopalmo who is very tempted but mopalmo grabs the wine vessel and throws it onto the ground, breaking the vessel and spilling out the wine.. mopalmo says he cannot get drunk at a time like this and leaves.
jumong thinks about what he left behind at night as he paces around in the training camp... meanwhile yesoya is kept inside the buyeo prison, and yoohwa reports to geumwa about yesoya's pregnancy, and yoohwa states they must save yesoya or else she and the baby will not survive. daeso is anxious about jumong's whereabouts and the queen's uncle says jumong and soseono are close and jumong must be getting help from gyeru thus they should seize gyeru in order to capture jumong. however, budeukbul disagrees and daeo further states jumong once saved daeso just so gyeru wouldn't be in danger thus jumong would not endanger gyeru at a time like this. another minister says they should use yesoya as their bait to capture jumong, and just then a messenger arrives to tell daeso king geumwa wants to see him.
daeso goes to geumwa and geumwa asks daeso to free yesoya. daeso appears angry and asks geumwa why he is acting this way when jumong is one who stole their remnants and ran away.. daeso says until he catches jumong he will not free yesoya and geumwa asks why he is so low, but daeso says at his current state geumwa should be thankful that daeso hasn't thrown yoohwa into the prison as well. geumwa is furious and mocks daeso but daeso isn't backing down and raises his voice and demands geumwa why he is still on jumong's side when jumong isn't even his own blood and daeso states until he captures jumong and slashes his throat he will not free yesoya and reminds geumwa jumong is one who has betrayed him. geumwa reminds daeso he is the one who killed jumong's father and on top of that daeso even took haemosu's head to make a deal with the enemy, and geumwa asks daeso why is he so afraid when both yeongpo and jumong have left buyeo and there is no one against him in buyeo anymore.. daeso says he cannot free yesoya, but geumwa reveals yesoya is pregnant and to keep her in the prison is not what a person should do. next daeso goes and tells naro to free yesoya from the prison and keep her under the guards watch.
yesoya returns to her corridor weak and ill, and yoohwa tends to her and tells yesoya to be strong for jumong. meanwhile in bongae mountain, mopalmo presents the newly made swords to jumong and jumong is satisfied and tells the trio to prepare their damul warriors for battle. each of the newly reformed damul warrior is given a pendant necklace that signified their identity as a damul warrior.
in hyeonto city, hanbaek's rebel seol-tak meets with yang jeong and yang jeong tells seoltak if he catches jumong he will be given a handsome reward and seoltak says he has his own reason to capture jumong and even without yangjeong's request he will still catch jumong no matter what. next, seoltak meets with his inferiors and tells them they must catch jumong and this is their opportunity to be recognized by hyeonto.
at nighttime, jumong and the trio sneak into hanbaek fort and begin attack, while musong and the rest of the damul warriors await jumong's signal. the warriors see the fire signal from jumong and begin attack.. . thus a battle breaks out between jumong's damul warriors and seoltak's hanbaek men. seoltak arrives and watches as jumong slashes through the crowd, and seoltak draws his sword and joins in.. jumong spots seoltak and moves toward him. seoltak's man tells seoltak to escape and seoltak leaves the scene... but as he leaves jumong chases after him on horse and shoots arrows at him... jumong kills all of seoltak's men by his arrows, and seoltak tries to flee but jumong shoots arrow to seoltak's leg, and seoltak raises his sword to jumong but jumong cuts his sword in two with his, and seoltak begs for him to spare his life. jumong replies for yesoya's father yechan, seoltak must be killed for revenge, and though seoltak pleads again stating he will do everything jumong wants as long as his life is spared, jumong slahses seoltak to death with one stroke of sword...
next morning, jumong tells the hanbaek ppl that he is jumong who used to be buyeo's prince, but he is now the head of damul warriors and that he is married to yesoya and to avenge for yechan's death, he has already killed seoltak. the ppl of hanbaek kneel before jumong and say han nation is their enemy and pleads to jumong to make them damul warriors as well. thus jumong returns to bongae mountain with the additional men and he is welcomed by mopalmo.. jumong tells mopalmo he has brought hanbaek remnants to join damul army thus mopalmo needs to make more swords. mopalmo replies he will make swords with all his enery and informs jumong yeomieul has arrived.
yeomieul asks jumong to allow her to help him, but jumong says their place is too humble to serve an oracle.. however yeomieul states she has not come as an oracle, but she wants to stay as a citizen of the new nation jumong is about to build and yeomieul states she wishes to help jumong to wash away some of the sins she set against haemosu. jumong replies though he feels his situation is too humble to accept her request he will accept her...
meanwhile in gyeru sayong reports to soseono the biryu chief song yang has gathered army from all over the jolbon nations and are preparing to attack gyeru. soseono is shocked and sayong says if they don't do something soon they will all perish... next wootae prepares gyeru's army and sayong tells soseono their gyeru army will not stand up against song yang's many warriors and it is better to send someone to see song yang to make a deal of some sort. soseono says it is too late, but she hesitates as she remembers yeomieul's last words to her before she left, that it is too soon for soseono to fight song yang and that soseono must endure through and wait patiently until the day comes that soseono and jumong join force.
sayong goes to yeontabal and informs yeontabal of sosoeno's decision to face battle with song yang as they cannot sit and do nothing. yeontabal thinks.. but gyepil comes and tells yeontabal and sayong soseono has decided to go to biryu. wootae tries to talk soseono out of going but soseono says she is the chief of gyeru thus she must protect the ppl of gyeru. yeontabal arrives and asks soseono what she will say when she meets song yang, and soseono replies she will do everything song yang asks in order to save gyeru even if he asks for her life, and yeontabal tells soseono if that is what she intends then she should do so. soseono arrives in biryu with wootae and sayong, and song yang tells soseono he is just on his way to gyeru and asks soseono why she is here. soseono kneels before song yang and asks song yang to stop the war as she will do everything he asks. song yang asks soseono if she knows what he wants, and soseono says she will give up her position as gyeru's chief, and in addition she will give up control over salt dealings over to jolbon. sayong appears satisfied, and next he goes to gyeru, and tells yeontabal and soseono, from now on gyeru's chief shall be chansoo, and since chansoo is still young yeonchaeryeong and yangtak shall manage gyeru on his behalf, and furthermore gyeru will seize its power to move army and can only survive as a merchant group under the control of jolbon nations. soseono replies she accepts major chief song yang's terms and goes to yeonchaeryeong and yang tak and bows before them.
in chang-an city, yeongpo's man majin introduces jinjong to yeongpo, telling him jinjong is someone powerful in han nation, and yeongpo tells jinjong he is happy to meet him at last.. meanwhile daeso finds out jumong has attacked hanbaek and is now in bongae mountain. geumwa finds out as well and yoohwa is worried about jumong's safety but geumwa says he has been to bongae mountain when he was part of the old damul warrior and bongae mountain is tricky to get around thus jumong will be fine... yoohwa goes to visit yesoya and the guard tells yoohwa to make her visit short. yoohwa goes inside and tells yesoya the good news that jumong has killed seoltak to avenge yesoya and her father's deed. yoohwa tells yesoya the day will surely come for her to reunite with jumong and yesoya is encouraged.
yang seolran finds out jumong is in bongae mountain and goes to see daeso. meanwhile, daeso meets with the queen and oracle mawuryeong who agree that jumong must be raising an army to attack buyeo.
seolran arrives and asks daeso if he will bring army to bongae mountain and daeso replies yes that he will go attack jumong himself. seolran suggests to ask help from hyeonto instead and let their army capture jumong, and the queen's brother states it is a good idea. daeso tells everyone in court he will bring a small army to hyeonto and join force with hyeonto's steel army toward bongae mountain. budeukbul tells daeso he must be careful, as bongae mountain is full of hidden areas but daeso says not to worry as he will join force with the steel army..
in bongae mountain, more refugees arrive asking to join the damul warrior and the trio tells the newly arrived to go back as they are not taking anymore remnants for the time being, but jumong arrives and the refugees kneel and beg for jumong to accept them. jumong tells the trio to accept them, and jumong goes to yeomieul and tells her many remnants are arriving but it is difficult for him to accept them as they are living in the mountains, and yeomieul explains it is good for jumong that ppl are coming and tells jumong he should convert their land to farm land and go search for the men who are already rebelling against han. next, jumong tells musong to find land they can farm... just then daeso is on his way to hyeonto and afterwards daeso meets with hyeonto and go over the map of bongae mountain together... daeso asks yang jeong for steel army and yang jeong agrees and tells daeso to attack bongae mountain at once.
jumong and the trio are looking around bongae mountain for jaesa, moo-gol and mook-geo .. when they find them, jumong announces himself as the head of damul warrior, and jumong tells them he has heard that they are risking everything to fight han nation, and asks them to join him as his inferiors to fight together. jaesa laughs and says he had heard of jumong but why would they serve him, and moo-gol tells jumong to show his skill, and jumong tells them if they can win over jumong's group then they will leave. next, mool-gol and ohyi begin a sword fight and ohyi is losing... hyeopbo takes over and loses too... and moo-gol says he had heard that jumong had tigers under him but he sees that it is only a rumor. mari is about to fight and jumong stops him. then moo-gol tells jumong to come out and fight himself and jumong cuts moo-gol's sword in half. next, jaesa steps out and tells jumong he had heard about jumong's superhuman skills with bow and arrow and tells jumong to exchange a session with him. jaesa shoots arrows toward jumong but jumong shoots down jaeso's arrows with his and even cuts off one of jaesa's hair braid. afterwards jaesa kneels and says they will serve jumong. next, they return to jumong's camp together and musong reports to jumong daeso is on his way to attack bongae mountain and he is joined by steel warriors from hyeonto.
jumong and the trio are hiding ontop of a cliff and watches as daeso's group marches into the mountain.. naru senses someone's watching.. but continues.. and jumong appears to be in deep thinking....
jumong ep. 47:
jumong and the trio watch as naro leads a group through the mountain and naro turns around and reports to daeso he didn't see jumong's men. jumong tells his warriors to get ready for attack.. daeso orders naro to prepare the steel army for attack, and when the steel army asks to wait til they spot the other group first, daeso scoffs them saying they shouldnt' be afraid of just a small-numbered group when they are the steel army, and the steel army prepares for attack. jumong gets a supply of arrows from mopalmo as he prepares for battle.. while yeomieul is back in the mountain camp putting up a holy shrine along with the star child and soryeong.. mopalmo returns to his mountain factory and orders his men to hurry and make more arrrows... and the men and women of jumong's group work together to make arrows for jumong...
it is nighttime and daeso and the steel army march into the mountain... as jaesa, moo-gol, and mook-jeo watch them. jaesa tells the other two not to make any move until they are further in. meanwhile, jumong and his group shoot arrows with fire balls toward daeso and his group and many of daeso's men are shot down.. daeso asks naro what happened when he said there weren't any one inside, and naro apologizes.
daeso and naro rush out, but they are met by jaesa and the duo on the other end as they try to retreat. daeso is shot by one of the fireball arrows but daeso pulls it out and tells naro they must hurry and retreat or else they will all perish. at this daeso and naro's group escapes... they return to their camp at the base of the mountains, naro and the steel warrior head suggests to daeso they should seek help from hyeonto fortress as they have lost many soldiers, but daeso yells at naro and says when the daylight shines they will attack again. but deep into the night, jumong and the damul warriors arrive nearby daeso's camp and they watch as they await jumong's signal...
daeso is asleep in his tent when he suddenly awakes upon hearing the noise of sword exchanging... naro arrives and reports to daeso the enemy has come to attack them. daeso steps out and sees jumong fighting among them and a furious daeso asks for naro's sword. naro urges him to flee as daeso is still suffering from his fresh wound, and daeso reluctantly gets on horse and flees the scene with naro.. exchanging a look of hatred with jumong as he leaves. ohyi offers to go after daeso but jumong stops him and tells him to focus on the battle before them first...
dongseon reports to yangjeong in hyeonto that jumong has not been captured and daeso has arrived instead. yangjeong goes out and yells at daeso who apologizes, but yangjeong asks how in the world can he lose when he had steel warriors with them and they were merely faced with just a few warriors on jumong's end... daeso says there's a reason why jumong chose to hide in bongae mountain as it is tricky to get around.. but yangjeong will not accept daeso's explanation and warns daeso he will be a laughing stock. daeso is appalled and dismayed and naro asks to be killed... later naro pours wine for daeso as he rests and daeso vows to kill jumong. naro asks daeso what his plan is and daeso says they will retreat to buyeo palace thus naro should prepare their army.
meanwhile in bongae mountain, musong and mopalmo are celebrating their success with the damul warriors as they are offer the little food they have... jumong expresses his sadness over watching the damul warriors feed on such humble food when they just won a battle.. and yeomieul tells him things will get even harder in the future thus jumong must be patient. jumong meets with oh-ma-hyeop and jae-moo-mook, along with yeomieul and mopalmo and jumong tells them there will be more remnants joining them and everyone should come up with ways to sustain them. yeomieul urges jumong to attack han nation merchant groups, and mari suggests they should ask gosan nation for salt for trade commodity, but jumong says if gosan gives them salt, it will put gosan in danger against buyeo, thus jumong orders his inferiors to heed to yeomieul's advise instead and focus on the merchant groups of han nation.
back in buyeo daeso returns and tells budeukbul to prepare court session immediately. but the queen's brother tells daeso the queen is waiting for him. yoohwa tells geumwa daeso has returned and failed on his mission even with steel warriors help. geumwa says then they needn't worry about jumong in the future...
daeso arrives in the queen's corridor accompanied by yang seolran. the queen asks daeso about his wound and daeso says it is not to be worried. then queen then scolds daeso for losing such embarrassingly when jumong's group is not large and daeso apologizes while yang seolran glares at him. in court, daeso says he has disappointed everyone but the queen's brother says not so and they can learn from it. daeso says he will attack jumong again and asks all his subjects to gather all their strength together...
meanwhile yesoya is dragged out of her room by yang seolran's man at seolran's order. seolran violently slaps soya twice and tells her she can't stand seeing her anymore and says she will make her servant and soya says if she insists so then she will follow it, and seolran asks where soya gets her proud attitude and tells soya she is mistaken if she thinks she can rely on geumwa and yoohwa.. seolran tells her man to take soya away, but just then yoohwa arrives and scolds seolran for her offensive behavior, but seolran warns yoohwa soya is a sinner and if yoohwa stops her then yoohwa will be punished too.. yoohwa slaps seolran and tells her to go ahead and threaten her all her want. seolran leaves in fury...
yoohwa tells soya the reason seolran treated soya that way is because jumong beat daeso and soya suffered because of it. soya says if that is the reason than she is fine with it, but yoohwa warns soya she must be strong and patient for her unborn child's sake, just as yoohwa was strong before the queen's ridicules when she first came into the palace with a young jumong, and yoohwa tells soya as daeso fails more in his attempts to catch jumong her suffering will increase thus she should prepare herself. meanwhile in gyeru, the managing chief, yeonchaeryeong tells soseono she should take a merchant group on a long journey to okjeo for their group's sake. chansoo says soseono is pregnant thus it will be hard for her to go on such a difficult long journey, but yeonchaeryeong says she went to chang-ahn thus soseono should be able to go to okjeo, and yangtak tells soseono since songyang is trying to get rid of her it is safer for her to leave gyeru for the time being...
yeontabal and sayong are by the lake and yeontabal asks sayong what he thinks about soseono's decision to give up everything for gyeru, and sayong says maybe war would have been better as it is easier to be dead than stay alive at times, but yeontabal says sayong is still young, and in truth it is better to stay alive no matter how difficult.. just then gyepil arrives and tells yeontabal about yeonchaeryeong sending soseono to okjeo and asks yeontabal to stop her... wootae asks yeonchaeryeong to let him go instead of soseono but yeonchaeryeong says wootae is a body guard not a merchant and tells him to forget it. yeontabal arrives and tells yeonchaeryeong if she must be so extreme and states he never put chansoo through such thing, but yeonchaeryeong says she has lived under his whim for decades, and due to him, chansoo's father died during a merchant trip and she is far from freeing all her hatred. soseono tells yeontabal she will go. soseono explains even if her aunt didn't send her she would've asked to leave.. soseono further states leaving is the road that will save them as they will not have any chance against songyang just by staying. yeontabal agrees with soseono's assessment and tells her she should go.
budeukbul goes to see an anxious daeso who paces back and forth in his chamber and daeso is happy to see budeukbul and asks budeukbul for advice, saying it is difficult to attack bongae mountain. budeukbul says if that is difficult, then they should make jumong come out of bongae mountain, just as king habaeru did when he wanted to kill haemosu and used migrants to bait him out.
meanwhile ohyi tells jumong the news that yesoya is pregnant and jumong appears shocked. ohyi then goes on and tells jumong how yesoya was imprisioned and under house-arrest even in her condition... jumong goes out to think alone, and mari and hyeopbo arrive and tell jumong they heard about yesoya and the duo state they will find a method to bring her here for they cannot leave her behind. jumong says no and he already tried to think of ways to get her out, but in their current state if they try to do anything they could risk losing their damul army. jumong tells the trio to remain steady and focused on the damul warriors for now, and jumong goes in after a sigh. jumong goes to see yeomieul and confesses to her that his father urged him not to leave behind his woman, that one cannot save a nation that way, but yeomieul comforts jumong and says she can imagine jumong's torment, but says haemosu said that out of his guilt over yoohwa, but she thinks otherwise and urges jumong to be rational and be strong not to waver emotionally for the sake of hundreds of citizens...
just then jaesa arrives and reports the hwang-nyeo group is taking merchantry to han nation and jumong tells his group to prepare. jumong and his group attack the group with their goods for han nation and confisgates their goods after the group flees... jumong tells jaesa and his duo to take the goods back to bongae mountain, and tells the oh-ma-hyeop trio to go with him to spock out some farming land.
just as jumong and the trio look at the land's potential, the gyeru merchant group passes by led by soseono. jumong watches as soseono and her group pass by, and the trio say it is strange that she, being pregnant, would go on a merchant trip and wonders what is going on with her group, but jumong says not to worry over it.... in hyeonto, dongseon reports to yangjeong the goods from hwang-nyeo to chang-ahn city were stolen by jumong 's damul warriors and yang jeong angrily tells his inferior to prepare for departure to buyeo immediately. in chang-ahn, majin informs yeongpo about jumong's damul warrior taking goods headed toward chang-ahn, and that the han imperial is blaming the fault on hyeonto's yangjeong and buyeo's daeso. yeongpo laughs and says this may be an opportunity for him to return to buyeo and asks majin to arrange meeting with minister jin.
yangjeong arrives in buyeo and daeso is surprised by his unplanned visit. yangjeong tells daeso about what jumong did and daeso is shocked... yangjeong raises his voice and demands jumong must be captured. daeso says he actually wanted to discuss the matter of capturing jumong with yangjeong, and yangjeong asks if he has an idea, and budeukbul answers instead and says they will use the same method buyeo used to bait haemosu. just then songju informs geumwa yangjeong has come to meet with daeso, and yoohwa says for sure the two are scheming about capturing jumong. next, daeso tells naro to use their army to take the remaining migrants in buyeo to han immediately, and songju overhears them and reports this to yoohwa and geumwa.. geumwa says jumong is in danger and yoohwa asks for details, and geumwa says han nation used migrants as bait to capture haemosu, and daeso is scheming the same... yoohwa is worried, and geumwa says they must send yesoya to jumong.. songju goes to help yesoya escape, and yesoya is brought before yoohwa and yoohwa tells yesoya to tell jumong not to worry and that yesoya must leave immediately. songju urges yesoya to leave at once too, and a tearful yesoya leaves..
however as songju tries to help yesoya and her maid escape from buyeo palace, they are surrounded by the palace guards and the soldiers. naro appears and exchanges swords with songju. next, daeso comes to geumwa and yoohwa, and daeso brings with him yesoya and songju tied up in ropes.. geumwa and yoohwa are shocked, and daeso asks geumwa if he sent them to help jumong once again and geumwa says nothing... daeso tells geumwa soon jumong will fall into his trap, and he will surely slash jumong's throat before geumwa in no time.
in bongae mountain, jumong is informed by ohyi that daeso is sending the remaining 300 migrants from buyeo to han nation and jumong prepares to meet with his advisors. jumong leaves with damul warriors to save the migrants and musong and mopalmo sigh as they watch them leave.. meanwhile naro leads a group of migrants toward han nation, and they are followed by steel warriors....
yeomieul founds out from mopalmo jumong and the damul warriors left to save migrants and yeomieul asks how long ago they left, and tells musong and mopalmo to hurry and stop jumong or else the damul warriors will be in danger. thus musong and mopalmo hurry and try to catch up to jumong...
jumong ep. 48:
musong and mopalmo successfully catch up to jumong, moo-mook-jae, oh-ma-hyeop et al.., while jumong goes over map and strategy with this group. musong and mopalmo tell jumong yeomieul has told him to stop the attack. jumong says it'll be too hard to save the remnants if they get too far thus he cannot wait, but musong says yeomieul will arrive soon and asks jumong to wait. meanwhile, naro and his army are leading the remnants toward han nation, and naro stops to tell his army once jumong's group arrives they are to wait til the steel armies appear and they should flee afterwards. back in buyeo palace, daeso goes to mawuryeong and asks about the 3-legged bird. daeso states he is about to catch the 3-legged bird and wants to know what the result is. mawuryeong apologizes and says that is up to the gods to know, and daeso scoffs her saying she should have that much skills and orders her to go and figure it out. daeso leaves, and mawuryeong and her oracles are worried about daeso...
geumwa is feeling unsettled and steps out of his corridor but the bodyguard tells geumwa he is not allowed to step outside. geumwa draws the guard's sword and tells the guard if he doesn't move he will kill him, but the guard says if he lets geumwa go then daeso will kill him and geumwa goes back inside. yoohwa arrives and the guard tells her no one is allowed inside. yoohwa says it will just be a short while, but the guard says that is not allowed. the queen's brother tells daeso many ministers have expressed daeso's treatment of geumwa is too extreme, but daeso will not budge. yoohwa arrives and tells daeso to free geumwa's house-arrest and daeso orders her to leave. yoohwa asks to be locked up with geumwa in that case, and the queen arrives and tells yoohwa once geumwa dies she will have yoohwa accompany him til eternity.
near bongae mountain, yeomieul arrives and tells jumong daeso could be using the remnants as a trap to catch jumong, and that the same happened to haemosu. jumong asks yeomieul how daeso would know of such event that happened so long ago, and yeomieul states the plan to trap haemosu was noneother than budeukbul's idea. yeomieul says the so-called remnants might be just army men in refugee disguise, and jumong sends the oh-ma-hyeop trio to see the situation. the trio spock out naro's group and they wait to see if the steel army is behind naro's group.. and just as yeomieul predicted, the oh-ma-hyeop see that a group of steel warriors are right behind naro and his group of disguised remnants.... oh-ma-hyeop return to jumong and report that it was indeed a trap. hyeopbo states had they attacked they would've been captured.. and urges jumong to return to bongae mountain, but jumong thinks otherwise... jumong tells yeomieul he will use the opportunity to stop daeso and go forward with attack, but yeomieul says jumong's group might not be enough to face the steel warriors.
meanwhile naro is puzzled that jumong has not showned up, and naro tells the steel warrior head that they are near hyeonto already... the steel warrior leader says perhaps jumong doesn't know about the remnants going to hyeonto but naro says they leaked out the news on purpose... jumong tells his men they will first attack the steel warriors, then attack the buyeo army men next.. while the steel warriors are taking a short rest, jumong and his group arrive and start shooting arrows at the steel-clad men... and with moo-mook-jae helping to attack with ropes hung from trees encircling the steel warrior's heads and then slashing their exposed throats.. the steel warriors are eliminated by jumong's damul warriors in no time.. it is night time and jumong and the damul warriors go after naro and his army next... with most of his men killed, naro is soon surrounded by jumong and his men... naro moves foward with his sword and a stern-faced jumong attacks back and soon has his sword by naro's throat. jumong tells naro he should kill him for the sake of the past, but tells naro he will let him live and tells naro to return to buyeo and tell daeso if he tries to attack damul warriors again he will be met w/ the end. naro is speechless and gets on his horse to return to buyeo.. as the damul warriors rejoice in their success..
in buyeo, daeso is worried before budeukbul over the lack of news... but budeukbul tells daeso jumong must have fallen into their trap thus daeso mustn't worry... just then the queen's brother arrives with news of naro returning. daeso goes out and sees a limping naro.... naro kneels before daeso and asks daeso to have him killed. daeso asks for the details and naro says jumong already knew about their plot.. and that he never appeared on their way to hyeonto.. but jumong killed off the steel warriors as they were headed back and afterwards jumong killed all the buyeo army, even those that were disguised as remnants... daeso meets with yangjeong and budeukbul and a furious yangjeong wonders if geumwa is the one who told jumong about their plan, and daeso says that is not possible since geumwa has been under house-arrest.. budeukbul suddenly remembers something and says there is anotehr person who knows about the plan they used on haemosu in the past, and that is yeomieul.... next, daeso meets with the queen and the queen tells him to stop wavering and they should use yoohwa and yesoya to catch jumong now. daeso is worried about how the citizens would feel if he used the women... but the queen and her brother urge daeso to move forward or else they will lose their chance to catch jumong..
daeso thinks as he drinks alone and he becomes furious, and calls naro to tell him to bring yoohwa and yesoya before him. naro barges into yoohwa's chamber and drags her to daeso. the queen tells yoohwa she and yesoya will be used as hostage against jumong and when yoohwa scoffs the queen says not to blame it on daeso but to blame it on jumong. yoohwa and yesoya are taken away. daeso then tells naro to send a message to jumong to tell him unless he shows up by sunset yoohwa and yesoya's will be beheaded. meanwhile, the palace doctor tries to comfort geumwa who is cut off from everything outside of his chamber. the doctor tells geumwa about jumong beating daeso in daeso's attempt to trap him and geumwa asks if yoohwa knows about it too.. but the doctor states yoohwa and yesoya have been thrown into the prison, and an appalled geumwa gets up and heads out in fury.. geumwa goes to daeso who is with the queen, and naro tries to stop him but geumwa tells naro to step away. daeso gets up and tells naro to leave them. geumwa asks daeso if it's not enough that he put him in house arrest did he really imprison yoohwa and yesoya? and daeso responds it is merely his last attempt to capture jumong.. geumwa orders daeso to free the women at once but daeso says no. geumwa tells daeso if he doesn't bother jumong, then jumong will never attack buyeo thus he shouldn't worry about jumong and free yoohwa and yesoya at once. daeso says jumong is buyeo's enemy and must be captured whether or not he will attack. geumwa raises his voice and states the enemy of buyeo is not jumong, but it is han nation. however daeso raises his voice as well and replies, for him, han nation is buyeo's alliance and he will join force with han nation to eliminate jumong. geumwa is beyond furious and raises his sword at daeso, but daeso tells him to go ahead and slash him and slash the queen as well... geumwa loses his speech and appears in shock and daeso tells his men to take geumwa away as the queen watches in tears..
in jolbon, song yang tells yang chaeryeong they will score high contribution if they capture jumong for buyeo and suggests tthey should use soseono as bait to catch jumong since jumong and soseono have a special relationship. chansoo feels uncertain about it and later urges yeonchaeryeong to stop using soseono but yeonchaeryeong is unwavered and warns chansoo song yang is their future and there's nothing she cannot do. yeonchaeryeong asks yangtak about soseono's whereabouts and yangtak says she is currently passing through hwang-nyeo after going to okjeo... next gyepil goes to yeontabal who is fishing and hands him a message that came from soseono. yeontabal reads the message and appears worried. the two men go out on horse next.. and gyepil asks why he's brought him to the vacant land before them.. yeontabal tells gyepil soseono wants to build a new nation, after gyeru is taken over by jolbon.
in hwang-nyeo, soseono arrives w/ her merchant group. as they sit, wootae tells soseono it's been 10 years since he came here and many things have changed it seems... next sayong comes in to the room and soseono asks if he's found any business leads. sayong replies yes and soseono tells wootae to prepare their salt for trade. sayong then tells soseono news about jumong, telling her jumong seized goods that were headed from hwang-nyeo to hyeontto, and on top of that jumong even beat up steel warriors who were sent to capture him. afterwards soseono goes out to the courtyard alone and remembers the time when jumong came to save her when she was tied up by song yang's men during the war between buyeo and imdun/jinbeom... soseono remembers these and smiles sorrowfully... next day, soseono and her men deal w/ hwang-nyeo merchants who try to insist on lowering the price of salt from her but soseono states the price of salt will rise soon in hwang-nyeo thus she will not back down from her asking price.. the men say no and soseono then orders her men to leave, saying they will not deal then. soseono returns to her inn and smiles when she sees the rain falling.. soseono tells her men to keep good track of the salt.. later the merchant who declined her earlier comes by and tells soseono he will buy the salt at the asking price, but soseono says it is too late and if he really wants the salt he must pay a higher price.. since some of the salt is ruined by the rain due to his delayed response.. and the man says he will do business w/ her.
in chang-ahn city, majin tells yeongpo that minister jin has met w/ the imperial and the minister comes and tells yeongpo the imperial has agreed to send yeongpo back to buyeo. yeongpo is elated and promises minister jin he will repay his debt to him in the future. meanwhile, in bongae mountain, the damul warriors train as a small rivary develops between the oh-ma-hyeop trio and the new moo-mook-jae trio... next jumong finds out the reason soseono went on her trip was because of song yang and hyeopbo asks jumong if they could help soseono in her dire state.. but mari comes and tells jumong an outsider has been spotted. mari and ohyi meet him and it's a buyeo messenger who gives mari the message scroll from daeso, and mari reads it and is shocked. mari and ohyi return to jumong but mari says nothing about the messenger and instead tells ohyi to call hyeopbo out. mari, hyeopbo and ohyi meet and mari says they cannot tell this to jumong cuz he'll want to go to the palace right away and ohyi says the three of them should go to the palace and help yoohwa and yesoya escape, but mari says they don't have that skill and if they fail yesoya and yoohwa will die. mari then goes to see yeomieul, while jumong discusses about chang-cheon nation with his advisors. jumong says he'll go to chang-cheon himself to see the situation there and moo-mook-jae say they will escort him there. jumong tells ohyi and hyeopbo to watch their fort while he leaves with moo-mook-jae.
yeomieul tells mari he and hyeopbo and ohyi must go save yoohwa and yesoya instead, and mari tells yeomieul it is nothing if they die but if they fail then yesoya and yoohwa will be killed. yeomieul says even though that's the case, they cannot let jumong go since he must stay to build his nation and they have no choice but to put yoohwa and yesoya's fate in the hands of the gods. in buyeo prision, yoohwa tells yesoya they cannot let jumong come to buyeo because of them and they must stop him no matter what... meanwhile outside the prision naro comes to check on the situation and orders his men not to let anyone in without his permission. the palace doctor comes to check on the pregnant yesoya and naro allows him in... the doctor goes in and yoohwa asks him to help her. yoohwa says they have to sneak mudeok out and the doctor says there is only one method which is to be dead. yoohwa asks how and the doc says she should take the medicine he gives to appear like she is dead. yoohwa says there is no time and asks him to hurry.
in bongae mountain, jumong leaves and the oh-ma-hyeop leave for buyeo right afterwards...
ep. 49:
ohyi, mari, and hyeopbo ask mopalmo for swords, and musong scolds them about not telling daeso's threat to jumong, but mopalmo says the trio did well since it will throw jumong into despair. musong asks to go w/ the trio to see mudeok, but mari says musong should stay put and hyeopbo also says they're going to buyeo to save ppl thus it is not a light matter. musong tries to argue but mopalmo hushes him and tells the trio to bring back yesoya and yoohwa no matter what since he's been feeling guilty about leaving buyeo w/ out yesoya.
meanwhile in buyeo palace, yoohwa waits for the palace doctor to bring the potion for mudeok to take... yoohwa tells mudeok after she gets out she must go to bongae mountain and she must tell jumong not to come to buyeo. yoohwa then checks on yesoya who says she's fine and yoohwa tells her to wait a little for she will save her and her baby in her womb no matter what. yoohwa says a long time ago when haemosu was captured by the hans in hyeonto city, she went there to see him and saw him crucified w/ his eyes dug out thus he was unable to see her... yoohwa continues and tells yesoya she wanted to die at the moment but she had jumong in her womb and she believed to go on no matter what to raise jumong would be the way to continue her fate with haemosu.. yoohwa tells yesoya this and urges her to be strong no matter what and yesoya nods.
jumong arrives in chang-cheon nation with the new trio, and guards arrive to ask who they are. jaesa steps up and says they are buyeo ppl who are passing through. the guard asks jumong to prove his identity as buyeo citizen, and jaesa pretends to take out his id, only to attack the guards. jumong, moogol and mook-geo join in as well and run after they finish off the guards. in buyeo seolran asks daeso if he believes jumong will show, and daeso says jumong will not sit still when his mother is getting killed. seolran suggests they should use the opportunity to seize the throne for good, and daeso asks if she is asking him to kill his own father and scolds seolran for her wrong attitude toward her father-in-law. seolran yells back saying she is no different than him and this is what he wants too but daeso tells her to stop and leaves. seolran calls her man haochen and tells him to prepare for messenger for hyeonto fort.
geumwa asks to see the queen, while the queen is listening to her brother who says even if jumong comes they should kill yoohwa and yesoya anyway. the queen wonders if jumong will show and the queen's brother says even if he doesn't it will still hurt him since once the citizens find out he forsake his own mother no one will be part of his new nation. the queen says jumong is not strong enough to set a new nation. just then her maid shows and tells her the king asks to see her. the queen arrives in geumwa's chamber and geumwa says he thought about their past together, but the queen says she never existed in his heart thus they have no past and asks what about daeso then who is his own blood... how does one explain geumwa's cold treatment of daeso..? geumwa says he understands her and offers to give up his throne to daeso for good if they will free yoohwa and yesoya, but the queen says the power of buyeo is already in daeso's hands and vows to kill jumong and yoohwa in geumwa's sight.
the new trio report to jumong there are only 500 army men in chang-cheon nation. jumong says they are to return to bongae mountain and prepare the damul warrior to attack chang-cheon, which will be a big blow to hyeonto. but just then they spot out a messenger from buyeo and moo-gol catches him and brings him before jumong. the messenger confesses he is on his way to hyeonto, and jumong asks who sends the message, and the messenger replies it is a message from seolran to yangjeong. jumong reads the scroll and appears shocked. jumong asks the messenger about yesoya and yoohwa, and the messenger states daeso had sent a message to bongae mountain not long ago to say that unless jumong shows up by the appointed day before sunset he will kill both women. jumong is shocked more and remembers the strange behavior from oh-ma-hyeop before his departure, and a furious jumong rushes back to bongae mountain.
in bongae mountain jumong asks where ohyi, mari, and hyeopbo are and musong replies he's not sure. jumong screams and asks if they went to buyeo and mopalmo replies yes. jumong asks if they left w/ damul warriors and musong replies they took the better fighters among damul army to buyeo. jumong then goes to yeomieul and asks her if she knew about it too. yeomieul says she had no choice, and jumong asks how can it be that she had no choice, since it is a matter of his mother and wife's lives.. yeomieul says the oh-ma-hyeop trio will bring them back safely, but jumong says the buyeo army is thousands of men, how will oh-ma-hyeop save anyone with just a few men. jumong says he will go himself and yeomieul says he mustn't go but jumong says he cannot let his mother and wife die while he sits still, and jumong runs off w/ moo-mook-jae trio. soryeong and yeomieul watch them leave and yeomieul says the have no choice but to pray that they return safely.
jumong and a few of his men rush toward buyeo, while soseono and her group arrive in buyeo and settle in an inn with plans to visit the buyeo palace next day. wootae suggests to soseono after they return to gyeru they should stay put and await the birth of their child and soseono agrees. wootae asks her why she was so willing to give up her position as chief of gyeru and soseono replies that position had no meaning left for her and she plans to escape from jolbon and build a bigger nation. wootae is puzzled as to how they could build a nation without army but soseono says she will succeed. just then, sayong returns with news of jumong's crisis and sayong comments jumong will have to come to buyeo.
meanwhile in buyeo palace the doctor is body-searched before allowed to enter the prison. after he gets the clearance to go in, he checks on yesoya and sneaks a potion into yesoya's palm. next, yoohwa gives the potion to mudeok.. while the queen meets w/ the oracles and asks the oracles to be understanding of daeso while he is under stress. mawuryeong says it is wrong to use yoohwa and yesoya as bait to capture jumong. the queen asks why and mawuryeong says the queen and daeso are over-suspicious of jumong, and the queen says mawuryeong is the one who's raised the alarm w/ the talk of the 3-legged bird attacking buyeo, but mawuryeong says even that is true that is not an immediate threat and by throwing yoohwa and a pregnant yesoya into the prison, many citizens will be unsettled by the palace behavior... mari, hyeopbo and ohyi arrive in buyeo and hide when they spot naro in town. ohyi tells mari all the ways to enter the palace have been blocked and hyeopbo suggests they should go to the mountain for now.
in buyeo prision mudeok is afraid as she is about to swollow the potion, and yoohwa comforts her telling her not to be afraid for she will awake after a short while of unconsciousness. mudeok swollows the medicine, and next the prison guard hears yoohwa yelling for help. the palace doctor is summoned and naro arrives to find out mudeok has died. naro inspects mudeok himself and asks yoohwa what happened. yoohwa says mudeok has been sick for many days and she has not been getting any care.. naro leaves and yoohwa is anxious... the queen urges daeso to heed to the oracle's advice and move yoohwa and yesoya to house-arrest instead, and daeso agrees, but naro arrives with news of mudeok's death. the queen says the people are already feeling uneasy if they find out about mudeok's death then it is big trouble for them. daeso orders naro to quietly dispose mudeok's body in the mountain. after some time passes, mudeok awakes and rushes away...
soseono gives a message for sayong to take to yeontabal in gyeru and sayong asks what is the matter as they have not finished w/ their merchant business, but soseono says it is urgent and asks sayong to hurry.
in hyeonto, yangjeong is notified that minister jin is on his way to hyeonto from chang-ahn, brining with him prince yeongpo, and yangjeong tells dongseon to alert buyeo about it right away. minister jin arrives with yeongpo, and minister jin scoffs yangjeong for all the loss of refugees and goods han nation has suffered.
sayong arrives in gyeru and yeonchaeryeong asks why he is here and sayong says he is here to discuss merchant matter w/ yeontabal, and yeonchaeryeong says to go ahead and go in, but after sayong leaves, yeonchaeryeong tells yangtak to find out why sayong is really here since it must be some secret.
yeontabal reads the scroll and asks sayong why is soseono asking him about the secret tunnels that lead to the buyeo palace. sayong says it must be to rescue yoohwa and yesoya....
the oh-ma-hyeop trio run into jumong and moo-mook-jae as they arrive, and mari tries to play coy and asks jumong why he is here, but jumong punches oh-ma-hyeop violently and then orders them stand up. oh-ma-hyeop stand up again and jumong asks how they can do this to him, and mari says it was their decision after best judgment. jumong says they made a mistake, but ohyi and hyeopbo say if jumong dies then damul warriors will die and they could not allow that to happen. jumong says it is a matter of his mother and wife it is not for them to decide on, furthermore jumong says ohyi, mari, and hyeopbo are his brothers deeper than blood and how would he be able to go on and build their nation without them. at this ohyi, mari, and hyeopbo are stunned and tearful... while moo-mook-jae smile as they too are touched by jumong's words....
jumong gathers all his men and goes toward the palace... meanwhile, inside buyeo palace the ministers say today is the day that jumong should come and heukchi says they should go outside and see. they head out and watch as daeso, seolran and the queen bring yoohwa and yesoya before them. yoohwa and yesoya are ordered to kneel and both women kneel before daeso, the queen and seolran. daeso tells yoohwa she and yesoya will die if jumong does not show before sunset. yoohwa says daeso is a fool and reminds him if jumong would show he would've taken them w/ him when he left buyeo in the first place, and yoohwa says to kill her now and daeso is furious. geumwa is still held captive in his chamber and finds out that yoohwa and yesoya are dragged before daeso at the moment.
jumong stops his men out in the field and tells them to wait for him here, for he alone will go into the palace and talk to daeso. the men urge him not to go alone but jumong insists and goes, but mudeok shows and says she's been waiting for him. mudeok hands him a note from yoohwa written in red. the message reads, "jumong, though i hope you will not come to buyeo and see this message, but even if you read this message do not come into the buyeo palace. remember as i said to you when you left buyeo you are no longer to worry over this mother. thus for me and for yesoya, focus on building your nation and think about the citizens who have lived in suffering for decades.. to build the nation was haemosu's dream and your inherited duty.. if my death can allow that to happen then i, as well as soya, will meet the knife with joyful heart.. however if you still come after reading this, then soya and i will kill ourselves before you. do not disappoint this mother of yours.." upon reading, jumong grasps the letter and cries.. while his men watch in pain. jumong then goes out alone and shouts out 'mother' as he cries more....
the queen's maid informs her jumong has not appeared and the queen says yoohwa is indeed a pitiful woman seeing that jumong isn't coming. daeso and seolran are still standing before the kneeling yoohwa and yesoya, and seolran says she didn't know jumong was this extreme and urges daeso to kill them. daeso says to wait a little longer, and soya speaks up and says there is no need to wait for jumong is not a fool who goes on a path he shouldn't. yoohwa says soya and her are happy to die for jumong to accomplish his big will and asks daeso to kill them. seolran is furious and yells for daeso to hurry and kill them, and daeso draws his sword and watches soya and yoohwa, but daeso is unable to lift the sword. seolran yells more for him to slash the women to death but daeso at last is unable to kill them with his own sword.
daeso drops the sword and takes off, while seolran screams as he leaves...
yoohwa and soya are sent to house-arrest, and yoohwa passes out. the palace doctor checks on yoohwa and the doctor says yoohwa is weak and in urgent state thus he will rush for medicine. soya wipes yoohwa's face as she weeps and yoohwa remains unconscious...
meanwhile jumong stands in the field alone and speechless. jaesa wonders if they should return to bongae mountain and mari says they should wait to find out what happened to yoohwa and yesoya first. just then sayong arrives on horse and tells hyeopbo soseono is looking for jumong. hyeopbo brings sayong to jumong, and sayong hands jumong a map of secret tunnel that leads into buyeo palace. jumong opens up the map and looks up...
ep. 50:
sayong gives jumong the map containing secret pathway that leads into buyeo palace and says it was given to him by miss soseono. sayong says when yeontabal first came to buyeo a man who helped built the palace gave him the knowledge. jumong then gets on his horse and goes toward buyeo palace w/ the 2 trio groups.
budeukbul finds out yeomieul has left gyeru for some time and budeukbul is sure that she went to bongae mountain to help jumong and tells this to daeso. daeso asks what he is to do w/ jumong and budeukbul says he mustn't rush to anything and he must wait for the right opportunity to catch jumong and the damul warriors. daeso replies the longer they wait the stronger jumong becomes and if they wait too long they might lose buyeo too, but budeukbul says as long as yesoya and yoohwa are in buyeo jumong shall not attack them.
sayong returns and tells soseono he met w/ jumong, and says even if he goes into the palace successfully it is uncertain whether or not he will succeed in rescuing the women, and sosoeno agrees, saying she became worried about her decision while sayong was gone thinking it may not be a good thing for jumong, but sayong says it shouldn't be a bad decision on her part, and jumong will make the appropriate action. meanwhile, jaesa, mookjeo, and moogeol get into an argument w/ mari, hyeopbo and ohyi about what they should do, and jumong tells them to calm down and tells everyone to leave except jaesa and mari. after the rest steps out, jumong tells mari and jaesa in order for them to succeed they cannot be fighting amongst themselves and both mari and jaesa apologize. jumong says when they return to bongae mountain he will regroup the damul warriors. inside the palace, yesoya watches and tends to yoohwa who is ill and unconscious. geumwa waits for the royal doctor and the doctor tells him yoohwa has yet to regain her consciousness despite having had medicine and treatment due to her weak health.
naro tells daeso yoohwa is in critical state, saying according to the doctor she is in dire condition, and daeso tells naro to keep her alive no matter what until they catch jumong. naro then says geumwa asked to go see yoohwa and daeso says to allow it. geumwa arrives in yoohwa's chamber just as she is awaken, and geumwa calls out to her while yoohwa says nothing but tears up.. geumwa says she can't leave like this for he cannot live without her and asks her to regain her strength. yoohwa looks at geumwa and tears more.. as yesoya stands and watches. the oh-ma-hyeop trio return from their investigation and reports to jumong the secret tunnel exists indeed, just like shown on the map and they lead jumong to the secluded pathway. jumong confirms it for himself and they return to where they were staying to plan more.
in meeting, daeso is told their surrounding nations have not sent the gifts they have promised buyeo due to the run-in w/ jumong at bongae mountain. the queen's brother says they should attack those nations at once but budeukbul scoffs him and tells daeso soseono has arrived in buyeo and asks to see daeso.
soseono and sayong arrive in buyeo palace and soseono instructs sayong to go around the palace while she meets w/ daeso and sayong complains asking if she's asking him to help jumong again and soseono gives him a dirty look and sayong says fine. soseono meets w/ daeso and daeso says it must have been difficult for her to go on merchant trip in her pregnant state and soseono says she was raised in merchant family thus it is nothing. daeso then says had she not rejected him she would not have been suffering like this and neither would her group gyeru and daeso asks her if she regrets. soseono replies it is useless to have regret and says all she has is her business now and asks daeso to agree to trade w/ her group. daeso says fine and wonders what happened to all her pride from the past.
oh-ma-hyeop wonder around town in buyeo and listen as the townsmen talk about how cruel jumong is to not show up when his wife and mother are kept hostage. hyeopbo asks what happened to yoohwa and yesoya and a man replies they are imprisoned. the trio leave, but they are spotted by naro's guard. the guard goes and reports the news to naro, who relates it to daeso. daeso states if they are in buyeo then jumong is highly likely here as well and naro agrees. daeso then says to multiply the guards within the palace. jumong makes his plan w/ jaesa and mari in their hideout, and hyeopbo arrives w/ sayong. sayong comes in and tells jumong he went into the palace earlier and jumong asks about yesoya and yoohwa, and sayong says they are fine and they are kept under house-arrest. jumong thanks sayong and begins moving his group toward buyeo.
it is nighttime and naro guards the palace gate w/ many guards, while jumong and the trios pass through the secret underground tunnel. at last, jumong and the trios come out on the other side, near the palace oracle residence. jumong tells them he will go check on yoohwa w/ jae-trio and tells the mari-trio to go find yesoya and not to do anything rash under the many guards. jumong and jae-moo-mook kill off a couple of guards who were about to discover them, and continue to move in, but jaesa says there are too many guards around for them to handle. meanwhile, ohyi is about to attack the guards before him, but hyeopbo and mari stop him saying even if they can take on the men they see before them more guards will appear while they are fighting. thus the trio reunite w/ jumong and jumong says seeing that the guards are unusually large in number, daeso may have suspected their arrival. jumong thinks about it and says they will go to the oracle's palace first.
mawuryeong is asleep when jumong appears putting a sword at her throat. mawuryeong awakes and is shocked to see jumong. Meanwhile, jaesa, mookjeo and moogeol changed themselves into buyeo guard attire, when naro arrives asking if everything's okay. naro appears suspicious but he tells disguised trio to alert him immediately if something happens and naro leaves. meanwhile inside her chamber, jumong tells mawuryeong to send her maids to fetch yesoya and yoohwa to her chamber. mawuryeong says the two women are under house-arrest, and jumong says she can do it and puts a sword to her throat, but mawuryeong says she can't bring yoohwa since she is in dire health, but mari tells her to bring yesoya then, and warns her if she acts funny then she will be killed. mawuryeong agrees to call a maid and watches as jumong watches her from behind the curtain.

yang seolran goes to see daeso and asks why there are so many extra guards tonight and daeso says jumong could be in buyeo. yang seolran asks why he didn't kill yesoya and yoohwa when he said he would kill them if jumong didn't show by the given time. seolran says who will believe him when he breaks his own promise and daeso says he heard enough and tells her to leave. seolran steps out and sees the oracle maid escorting yesoya somewhere and seolran says yesoya is under house-arrest and asks why she's out. the maid says mawuryeong asks to bring yesoya and seolran asks for the reason but the maid says she doesn't know.seolran dismisses them, and yesoya is brought to mawuryeong's chamber. mawuryeong tells the maid to send yesoya in and leave. the maid lets soya in and leaves. soya asks why she's summoned and mawuryeong looks behind the curtain. jumong appears and steps forward to yesoya who is shocked and weeping... hyeopbo takes mawuryeong away and mari says they will wait in the back. soya continues to weep and jumong calls her by wife and when she cries more he draws her toward him and embraces her to let her cry more.
meanwhile seolran is restless in her chamber and summons haochen to go to maruyeong's chamber and find out why she summoned yesoya. yesoya asks jumong why he's here if he's seen yoohwa's letter, but jumong says he could not leave them behind and soya urges him to leave immediately. jumong asks if it is true that yoohwa is in critical condition and soya replies yes, but tells jumong not to worry since the doctor is tending to her and so is she. jumong says he came to take her and yoohwa out of the palace and soya replies yoohwa cannot leave in her state and neither can she for if she leaves then yoohwa has no one to look after her. soya tells jumong she will stand by yoohwa thus jumong must not return to buyeo again. jumong then says he heard she is pregnant and soya says yes and says she will give birth to a child who is like jumong and she will raise it well. jumong is emotional and hugs her again.. while haochen is about to arrive in mawuryeong's palace. soya urges jumong to leave again at once and jumong brings out a knife, then breaks it in half, and gives the tip to soya, telling her to give it to his child as a proof when they meet again, and soya accepts it as jumong leaves. haochen arrives and asks the disguised jaesa he is here to see mawuryeong. jaesa says mawuryeong is doing a shrine right now and is not to be disturbed. haochen says he's here under seolran's order and orders jaesa to step aside. maruyeong arrives and tells haochen to go back and tell seolran that she is meeting soya to use her spirit to catch jumong.
jumong tells the trios they must leave now and tells them soya will stay to tend to yoohwa. jumong apologizes to mawuryeong for any offense and mawuryeong says what happened tonight to her never existed. jumong and the trios move toward the tunnel and jumong lingers one last look toward the palace, and jumong kneels to bow toward yoohwa, before leaving buyeo place. jumong and the trios leave buyeo and soya returns to her chamber weeping.
next morning daeso gets a message from yang jeong telling him yeongpo is on his way to return to buyeo.
the queen finds out and her maid congrats her and the queen who is elated says she didn't expect to see him so soon and she's overjoyed. her brother says it is not that joyful since yeongpo is coming back w/ minister jin from han who is here to argue about buyeo's wrong-doings. meanwhile in bongae mountain, musong and mopalmo are told that commander jumong has returned. musong sees mudeok among them and rushes to aid her off the horse and embracing her... mopalmo asks mari what happened to yoohwa and yesoya, and mari replies due to circumstances they were unable to escort them here.
soseono and her group return to gyeru and are greeted by yeontabal and gyepil, who say they have done well. yeonchaeryeong appears and looks displeased. chansoo tells soseono he had expected the trade deal with buyeo to be difficult to achieve but compliments soseono on the speedy agreement. yeonchaeryeong announces they have to give half of their earnings from their trip to song yang to support the united army. soseono's men complain but soseono says she will give half to song yang as told. gyepil is upset over it but sayong says not to worry since they will get it all back in the future. soseono states she will go on merchant trip again soon, and wootae is worried and says she had agreed to stay til she gives birth, but soseono says it is her child's destiny if she gives birth during the trip. yeontabal tells soseono her next trip is toward chang cheong nation and says that is where jumong is building as well and asks soseono if she will join force w/ jumong and soseono says it is too early to do so and she will wait til buyeo goes to war w/ han nation first.
yeongpo returns to buyeo and is greeted by a solemn daeso. minister jin introduces himself and daeso escorts him in saying he has traveled far. the queen is restless as she is waiting for yeongpo and her maid comes and tells her yeongpo arrived and is now in court w/ daeso and the han envoys. yeongpo tells daeso han nation was about to send yeodong army toward buyeo to catch jumong and that would be like war for buyeo but yeongpo stopped them. budeukbul asks what it is that han nation wants and minister jin says the han imperial wants buyeo to catch jumong, and for buyeo to take responsibility over the foreign offerings lost to han by giving the equivalent offerings to han. daeso is displeased while yeongpo smiles proudly.. yeongpo is reunited w/ the queen next, and yeongpo bows before her. the queen is heartbroken over yeongpo's pale look and cries. yeongpo calms her down saying he will never leave again and the queen urges him not to go against daeso ever again. yeongpo says he is not the same guy from before and that minister jin and him are close and if he utters a word chang-ahn will respond. the queen sighs and yeongpo says he will not go against daeso but he will not allow him to look down on him easily again.
jumong continues to build his group and remembers yoohwa's parting words for him in the farewell letter...
on this training day, yeomieul comes to jumong and tells him it is time for him to go to chang cheong nation since hyeonto's yangjeong is headed that direction and this is a good opportunity for jumong.
thus, as yangjeong heads to chang cheon w/ his steel warriors, jumong heads to the destination w/ his damul warriors...
jumong 51:
yeongpo visits geumwa and kneels to bow before him.. yeongpo appears tearful and geumwa invites him to drink together. geumwa asks yeongpo how he spent his days in chang-ahn and yeongpo replies because he was worried about geumwa he lived with troubled heart daily. yeongpo vows he will not let daeso push them anymore and geumwa urges yeongpo not to go head on w/ daeso and geumwa asks him to drink more.. yeongpo is saddened and angry but geumwa says when the time is right yeongpo will realized too that daeso's power will not last long, and thus buyeo nation cannot have bloody tie between the brothers again.
yeongpo leaves and tells majin to keep an eye on daeso. majin says that is head mnister budeukbul's job and on top of that there's also yeongpo's uncle.. yeongpo is impressed how quickly majin figured everything out and next, han's visiting minister jin appears and yeongpo says due to all that help that jin gave him while they were in chang-ahn, it is now yeongpo's turn to help minister jin. daeso passes by and sighs, and tells naro to keep an eye on yeongpo to see what he is scheming next.
meanwhile yangjeong arrives in chang-cheon-gok w/ his steel warriors, and daeso is greeted by the leader of chang-cheon-gok, who escorts yangjeong to dine and wine. jumong's ohyi and moo-gol watch from a distance the happening... yangjeong tells chang-cheon-gok chief that they will have to double their iron ore production because they will have to give offering to both hyeonto and chang-ahn from now on. the chief states they are already meek and pushed to the limit as is but yangjeong will not back down.
ohyi and moo-gol return to jumong and report yangjeong's men are about 50. jumong announces once yangjeong heads toward joong-san they will attack him. mari asks if they will attack chang-cheon-gok after they attack yangjeong and jaesa says that is not the best idea. jumong agrees with jaesa and jaesa explains chang-cheon-gok has been under han's blackmail for a long time and if they give them an opportunity to join force w/ damul warriors then they would welcome it. thus jumong tells the oh-ma-hyeop to go and talk to chang-cheon-gok residents while jumong goes to attack yangjeong with moo-mook-jae trio.
yangjeong leaves chang-cheon-gok, and chang-cheon-gok's chief is told by his assistant if they fulfil yangjeong's demand then they will not be able to keep the deal they made w/ yeontabal's group from gyeru.
jumong and the damul army ambush yangjeong and his steel army, and soon the damul group is gaining an upper hand.. jumong shoots an arrow into yangjeong's shoulder while yangjeong flees w/ his men, and jumong follows them w/ moo-mook-jae. jumong catches up to them in no time w/ his speedy horse and successfully knocks yangjeong down from his horse w/ double arrows, but when jumong gets closer they realize the one they thought they killed was not yangjeong and that they had been tricked by a look-alike.
jumong et al. arrive in chang-cheon-gok, and the citizens there shout hooray to the damul army. hyeopbo tells jumong chang-cheon-gok has agreed to join force w/ them. jumong announces to the crowd that he is the commander of damul army and he knows chang-cheon-gok has been blackmailed by han for years for the iron ore they produce, and from this day on they will protect and help each other to be one force. the many men shout and cheer in rejoice. afterwards, jumong intructs the chang cheong chief not to tell hyeonto's yangjeong about their alliance for now until they are prepared. the chief agrees and asks if jumong is familiar w/ gyeru's yeontabal. jumong is surprised and replies he does. the chief then says he once made a deal w/ yeontabal's group.
meanwhile, soseono and her group are on their way toward chang-cheon-gok and soseono says to rest the group for a while, and sends sayong ahead of them to find out the situation in chang-cheon-gok.
chang cheong's chief tells jumong that soseono had asked them to send migrants to them and mari wonders why soseono needs the men, and jumong tells the chief he will resolved the problem. sayong arrives in chang cheong and spots jumong and oh-ma-hyeop in the crowd and sayong returns to soseono w/ the news. sayong says chang-cheon-gok is already taken over by jumong who has already attacked yangjeong who came from hyeonto. gyepil says this is a good thing since soseono and jumong already know each other, but soseono says to retrieve to gyeru and her men are surprised. sayong states jumong must have joined force w/ chang-cheon-gok to get iron from them. soseono says if chang-cheon-gok joined force w/ damul army then they will not have remaining men for their group thus they should return to gyeru and wait for the day when they can build alliance w/ damul warriors as that day will surely arrive.
in hyeonto, yangjeong is treated for his wound and is furious at jumong after he learns the steel army men he had w/ him were all killed, but yangjeong is angered more when dongseon comes to tell him their guards in joong-san have been wiped out by damul army. yangjeong's minister says if chang-ahn finds out about it it will be trouble for them, and yangjeong is beyond fury and writes a message to seolran in buyeo.
dongseon tells seolran her father's wounds are not serious, but if he doesn't get joong-san back then the han imperial may take away yangjeong's post. seolran tells dongseon to go back and tell her dad she will send buyeo's army to regain control of joong-san. seolran tries to persuade daeso to help yangjeong since her father's always helped him, but daeso says though he wants to they are not in the position to help at this moment, since they cannot lose any army men with minister jin breathing down their neck and jumong still uncaptured. seolran is furious and tells daeso without her father buyeo will be ruined and just then the queen arrives and scoffs seolran for cursing buyeo and tells seolran to follow her out.
the queen asks seolran if she is buyeo's person or han's person and seolran is on the defense but apologizes and the queen scoffs her more and says seolran puts her father and hyeonto priority over her husband and his nation and since her heart is not w/ her this is the reason why she's still not baring children for daeso, even after yesoya can be pregnant when she came to buyeo later. seolran is appalled by says nothing and the queen warns her if she disrespects daeso again she will not be forgiven and seolran is sent off... seolran feels overwelmingly ridiculed and goes to yesoya's chamber, and takes yesoya to the back where the maids are laundering and soya tells the maids to use soya as a laborer. seolran says she was mocked because of soya's pregnacy and she will have yesoya lose her child. yesoya says she will work as she is told, but if something goes wrong w/ her child then she will turn to a ghost and avenge. seolran is about to slap soya but soya stops her by grabbing her arm and tells seolran to keep her manners w/ their subjects watching.
soya goes by the river w/ the maids and washes clothes and when she feels exhausted she touches her stomach and vows she will protect the child and states herself she will surely raise the child like jumong.
soya then visits yoohwa who is feeling better and soya weeps.. yoohwa asks if something's happened again and soya says nothing, and that she feels strong to have yoohwa by her and thx yoohwa for such opportunity. just then soya's baby kicks and yoohwa touches soya's stomach to feel the baby's movement and the two women share a happy moment... meanwhile the buyeo ministers are getting impatient w/ han nation and want to attack han, but budeukbul tells them to wait for the right opportunity. just then yeongpo arrives citing a chinese proverb he learned and wonders aloud how one would be able to protect his nation when he forsake his father. yeongpo then ridicules budeukbul w/ another proverb that says one will suffer when one is arrogant in self.
in bongae mountain, musong steals a private moment w/ the maid mudeok but mopalmo catches them embrace and mudeok runs off leaving musnog upset. musong urges mopalmo to stop drowning himself in steel making and he should go get himself a young maid too. mopalmo watches the warriors train and runs to greet soryeong when she passes by w/ the starchild. mopalmo asks soryeong about his future destiny, and soryeong replies mopalmo will help jumong succeed in his new nation w/ the steel swords and mopalmo asks if that is it and soryeong replies yes. mopalmo sighs alone afterwards and says his fate is no different than a marriage w/ steel swords..
later musong scolds moo-mook-jae for disrespecting oh-ma-hyeop and hyeopbo praises musong but mari stops him, just as jumong returns. jumong announces though it hasn't been long since they set their 3-legged-bird flag onto their grounds, they now have sword making skills and iron ore as supply and army men thus it is time to set themselves as a nation. jumong says he will name each of them a title and yeomieul says before jumong says anything they must remember setting a new nation requires everyone's sacrifice and their diligence. first jumong names yeomieul their oracle, and mari 2nd in command, and puts jaesa third in charge with hyeopbo in charge of horse-soliders and ohyi in charge of foot-soliders. jumong then puts moogol in charge of bongae mountain operations and mookgeo in charge of strategies, and names mopalmo head of weapontry and musong leader of army training.
ohyi and hyeopbo are angry that jaesa is higher up then them but mari comforts them to no avail as both are too upset and declare mari who is the highest up among them wouldn't know how they feel. ohyi and hyeopbo find moogol and mookgeo and wonder what they're doing and mookgeo smiles cynically which upsets ohyi and hyeopbo and moogol stands up and next, moogol and ohyi begin fighting a round. mari notices them and tries to get involved but jumong says to leave them be and watches as the two go at it. but when ohyi draws a sword pointing at moogol, jumong stops them and says they don't appear to be practicing. the two apologize and jumong tells the two to leave the mountain fort immediately. everyone's surprised and jumong continues by telling the two to leave the mountain and spend the next 300 days wandering around from tribe to tribe to see which tribes and lands the damul ppl can help. thus, ohyi and moogol leave and they blame each other for what happened and begin another round of fist fight at the foot of the mountain. at last the two stop and both are bleeding and blue. ohyi tells moogol to call him elder brother but moogol won't concede and they continue to battle each other..
meanwhile jumong tells yeomieul despite knowing gyeru's dire state he is unable to help soseono and he feels heavy-hearted, but yeomieul tells him to take his damul warriors and do as he wishes. jumong is surprised but relieved by her words and tells mari and hyeopbo to go to gyeru to see how they can help soseono. in gyeru yeontabal tells soseono if they cannot build their defensive strength then they are heavily endangered and soseono replies she will find a way out of it thus yeontabal shouldn't worry. mari and hyeobpo sneak into gyeru and tell soseono jumong knows about what song yang did in jolbon and that soseono asked for army men from chang-cheon-gok. mari states they are sent here by jumong to find out from her how they can help her, but soseono says she is thankful but the timing isn't ripe and it will put then in danger against han. soseono tells the two to go back and tell jumong not to worry about gyeru and concentrate on damul. sayong bids farewell to hyeopbo and mari says to leave, and hyeopbo wishes sayong strength and health until they meet again. yangtak sees the two leave and reports this to yeonchaeryeong who thinks soseono might be scheming something. yeonchaeryeong tells chansoo to go to song yang and tell him soseono is scheming something, but chansoo says he can't bring trouble to soseono but yeonchaeryeong scolds him and says if he doesn't report her then he will be met w/ trouble instead and yeonchaeryeong tells yangtak to keep an eye on soseono for the time being.
in buyeo head general heukchi goes to see geumwa and apologizes for not being any help to geumwa. geumwa says he understands how he feels, and heukchi says he will help geumwa throw a coup and asks him to give him the order and geumwa is shocked.
yeomieul brings jumong to a waterfall and tells him to be vigilant in the water and jumong soaks himself in the cold water for some time. next yeomieul raises a fire shrine and jumong prays in concentration for hours and a strong gust of wind begins as a solar eclipse takes over the skies... .

in buyeo palace. heukchi tells geumwa what is happening means the heavens will bring destruction to buyeo and urges geumwa to wait no longer for his order. the queen runs to daeso and asks if the buyeo sun is disappearing and her brother also states he has never seen this... yesoya who is washing linen by the river rushes to return to yoohwa's side.
in bongae mountain, mopalmo tells the damul people he had heard about the sun disappearing from his grandfather who told him either a country is getting ruined or a king is dying when the sun disappears as such. yeomieul regains her consciousness and jumong asks again what is happening. yeomieul replies they are admist a sunless light, and jumong asks if the sun is disappearing but yeomieul says it will reappear, and this is but a sign that a new nation is being built, for the old world must be replaced by the new world.
yesoya brings yoohwa out of her chamber to see the sky, telling her the sun disappeared for a while in the skies... the queen goes to mawuryeong to ask about the meaning of the eclipse but mawuryeong is hesistant to speak...
tae majin goes to awake yeongpo who is passed out and drunk. yeongpo asks if the sun disappeared for him to be panicking and majin says indeed it did. yeongpo argues how that is possible and majin says the sun disappeared and reappeared and everyone in buyeo is unsettled since they believe it is an omen for buyeo's destruction. in bongae mountain, musong asks mopalmo which nation will be ruined, will it be han nation or buyeo, and mopalmo says he wishes it were han, but musong wonders if it could be damul instead and mopalmo scoffs him and tells him to stop the cursing. just then jumong returns and jaesa asks if he witnessed the eclipse. jumong replies he saw it w/ yeomieul, and orders jaesa to gather the damul army and migrants. jumong stands before his people and says everyone must have been startled by what they saw, but assures them what happened is a sign of their new nation being built. jumong says the sun of buyeo and han has fallen, and the new sun now shines in the skies for them and tells his people to look at the sun. jumong shouts out hooray to their sam-jo-nation (3-legged-bird) and the crowd follows as their cheer...
in buyeo geumwa thinks over heukchi's words for a coup when yoohwa arrives. yoohwa asks geumwa if he saw the eclipse and what the meaning is. geumwa says it means a change in nation and that before buyeo is ruined in daeso's hands, he must step up and put a stop to it. meanwhile, jumong continues to oversee training of damul army. daeso is informed by his subjects that some of the buyeo citizens are leaving buyeo for fear and daeso is angry, thus his uncle tries to comfort him by saying he will have soliders block the exit routes so no one can leave buyeo. daeso is still furious and announces he will kill anyone who tries to ruffle up people's hearts through spread of false rumors about the eclipse. heukchi asks budeukbul about the bad omen for buyeo, and budeukbul replies the sun only disappeared temporarily and reappeared. heukchi asks if he remembers the time when blood appeared in the wells of buyeo after yeomieul left buyeo, and states the eclipse is even a greater sign for buyeo and urges budeukbul to join force w/ geumwa and reinstate his power, but budeukbul warns him not to talk of such thing again and leaves in fury.
mari and hyeopbo return to bongae mountain from their trip to gyeru and jumong asks what soseono said, and the two reply soseono said the timing isn't ripe for her to receive jumong's help. jumong dismisses them and appears troubled. in gyeru, sayong explains to soseono that a new sun will rise for gyeru too and soseono smiles, saying that is exactly what she hoped to hear, and that she can endure through everything as long as she knows the sun will rise again for them. but just then gyepil arrives to call her out to the courtyard, where song yang has wootae captured, bound, and kneeling. song yang says soseono has broken her promise to him by keeping some soldiers when she agreed to give up all army. wootae speaks up and states he has misunderstood for the men are bodyguards and not soldiers. soseono wonders why he is arguing about a mere handful of bodyguards when he has hundreds of soldiers. song yang then says she has broken another promise w/ him by contacting jumong who is an enemy of biryu. soseono says jumong asked for her help but she declined and that is it. song yang says he knows clearly her relationship w/ jumong thus if he had asked her for help she wouldn't have declined. song yang says thus he will keep wootae in biryu's prison for the time being and takes him away. gyepil is heart-broken and asks soseono if she will ask jumong for help, but soseno says nothing and yeontabal says all they can do is wait til song yang's fury is gone. gyepil is upset and says though wootae is his son he is also a faithful servant of gyeru and yeontabal is too heartless w/ his words.. and gyepil leaves with yeontabal telling soseono not to think too much about gyepil's words. soseono goes out to the courtyard alone and weeps in anger..
in bongae mountain, ohyi and moogol arrive to tell jumong a news, and moogeo calls ohyi 'elder brother' and the rest of the trios are surprised. jaesa asks moogol what happened and moogol replies ohyi was either going to kill him or have himself killed so he decided it was best to treat him like his elder brother from now on. ohyi tells jumong yeongpo and han's envoy have arrived in buyeo, and ohyi is sure that buyeo will attack bongae mountain again. moogol gives a gift to mudeok which he brought back from hyeonto for her and mudeok asks why he's giving her such and moogol says cuz he wanted to and mudeok hesitates and leaves w/ it.. musong and mopalmo arrive just as mudeok and moogol part and musong wonders if moogol is after mudeok.
jaesa tells jumong if buyeo attacks bongae again their previous strategy won't work again and mari asks jumong if he has some other strategy, but jaesa suggests jumong should send mookgeo to buyeo first.
the men are puzzled and mookgeo shows them his skills throwing fast dart knife and blowing bamboo disguised knife. jumong is amazed and jaesa continues by saying mookgeo should be sent to buyeo as assasin to kill daeso. jumong hesitates and states for as long as his mother and wife remain in buyeo palace they cannot attack buyeo first.
meanwhile minister jin is getting impatient and asks yeongpo if perhaps buyeo has no strength to capture jumong, and jin says it is time for him to go back to chang-ahn. yeongpo persuades jin to stick around just a little longer and orders majin to prepare some pretty maids to entertain minister jin in the meantime... daeso gets more and more furious as he thinks about what had happened and orders mawuryeong to be brought before him. naro goes and fetches the oracle and mawuryeong asks naro why she is being summoned by daeso. naro replies it must be because of the sunless light during eclipse and naro urges mawuryeong to not say anything negative since at daeso's current state he could have her killed if she says something displeasing to him. thus, when daeso asks mawuryeong about the eclipse and sunless light, mawuryeong replies that is not a bad omen but the reason why the sun disappeared is because king geumwa is weakening and about to die, and when the sun came back it meant the new crown prince of buyeo is rising. daeso is pleased to hear such and laughs aloud... daeso then goes to seolran and shares his joy and seolran asks him to help her father again, saying unless daeso helps her father will lose all the things he has worked for all his life. daeso agrees to look for a solution w/ his ministers and seolran is thankful and states she will serve him w/ all her heart from now on. next, haochen arrives to tell seolran the folks outside of the palace are saying daeso will be ruined and both daeso and seolran are furious. seolran urges daeso to catch those who say such thing immediately to prevent the spread of such rumor.
naro and a group of soldiers leave the palace and seize the men who are telling others that the reason the sun disappeared is because of the heavens are displeased by daeso. naro carries out daeso's order further by seizing the palace maids and ministers who talk such talk as well. next, daeso appears before the men and women bound before him and a man asks for forgiveness saying they were merely worried for buyeo. another man begs for forgiveness but daeso slashes both men to death at once. daeso continues w/ his ruthless slaughtering rampage and budeukbul watches in disgust w/ head general heukchi. heukchi asks budeukbul if he will say nothing even after seeing what happened but budeukbul remains his silence and closes his eyes...
yeongpo complains to the queen about daeso when the queen's brother comes to inform them daeso is slaughtering the men and women who are accused of spreading false rumors. the queen is about to faint but rushes out to daeso.. but daeso is out of control and tells naro to kill all the citizens outside of the palace gates.. naro is appalled and the queen and yeongpo arrive to stop daeso. yeongpo tells daeso he is out of his mind and daeso asks him if he wants to die too and points his sword toward yeongpo. the queen comes forward and tries to calm daeso down and orders the gate doors shut immediately. daeso tells naro to prepare the army for this is all jumong's fault, thus they must capture jumong immediately to rid of any bad fate in buyeo...
heukchi is summoned before daeso, who orders heukchi to go and catch jumong or else he will be killed. meanwhile, budeukbul thinks alone for some time and afterwards approaches geumwa's chamber.
budeukbul bows before geumwa and states due to his mis-judgment a grand mis-endeavor has happened in buyeo and asks geumwa to forgive him. geumwa replies he is in no position to forgive anyone. budeukbul then tells geumwa he will help geumwa reclaim his power...
in bongae mountain, ohyi reports to jumong buyeo army are headed toward them. jumong tells his men to prepare the damul army at once. heukchi stops his armymen by the foot of bongae mountain, and tells his group to wait as he will go first. heukchi and a couple of soldiers go up the mountain and jumong prepares his sword w/ his group... ohyi tells jumong it is heukchi and jumong listens as heukchi announces himself as buyeo's head general heukchi and he is here to speak to jumong. jumong gets up to go toward heukchi and jaesa stops him saying it could be a trap, but jumong says heukchi is not someone who will trap him. heukchi gets off his horse when jumong appears and heukchi states he is here to relay a message from king geumwa.
jumong ep. 53:
heukchi tells jumong buyeo is under distress after seeing the sunless light and people believe buyeo could be coming to a ruin, and king geumwa is now determined to reclaim his power to save buyeo. jumong asks why then is heukchi is here w/ army and heukchi says he is here under daeso's order to capture jumong but he intends to attack sachuldo instead. mari expresses relief that damul army will not have to fight against buyeo army and jumong asks heukchi how he can help and heukchi replies the han army from hyeonto may come if king geumwa reclaims his power and jaesa says hyeonto is in no position to send out army at the moment and jumong replies even if they do he will stop them. jumong then talks to yeomieul about it and yeomieul appears worried when jumong says he will stop han army if they try to attack buyeo.
next, jumong sends army to chang-cheon-gok and tells the trios for the time being they will focus on stopping the han army. however, yeomieul is still troubled and tells soryeong geumwa's reclaimation of power could have negative impact on damul people. meanwhile, in buyeo the queen's brother expresses worry about sending heukchi to bongae mountain due to heukchi's loyalty to geumwa, but daeso says not to worry since heukchi's family is in their hands and if heukchi disobeys they will be killed. at nighttime, heukchi tells the buyeo army to surrender their swords, as geumwa remains in his chamber thinking over budeukbul's promise to help him reclaim his power. geumwa also remembers budeukbul's advise that geumwa must forsake jumong and make buyeo's stance clear against jumong who has stolen people from buyeo and fled.
yoohwa is recovering and tells yesoya she heard about soya having to do a maids's chores and soya says it is nothing for yoohwa to worry over. yoohwa comforts soya and says her suffering won't last long and when soya asks what she means yoohwa says she will soon find out. soya leaves yoohwa's chamber and is met by yangseolran who asks where she's been when she has work to do. soya says nothing and seolran then states buyeo army is on its way to capture jumong and in no time jumong will be brought before them and she will kill him for soya and yoohwa to see. seolran says even if they kill jumong soya will not be killed so she can taste what it's like to be living worse than being dead. seolran then orders haochen to go to soya's room and take away all her rich clothing so soya can wear humble attire more suitable for a maid from now on.
budeukbul has summoned buyeo's loyal ministers to a secret meeting and warns them if they continue they will be sinners in history and budeukbul states the only way to escape from their crisis is to reinstate geumwa's power. the ministers wonder how when geumwa has no army at his dispense, and budeukbul tells everyone heukchi went to attack sachuldo instead of jumong, and while he's gone they need to attack daeso's guards. budeukbul asks if anyone among them objects and if so he should kill budeukbul and no one utters a word.
thus a group of masked assasins kill of some jail guards to free songju from the prison. songju is brought before geumwa and geumwa gives him instructions on what to do next. geumwa asks budeukbul about heukchi and budeukbul replies heukchi should be attacking sachuldo at the moment. songju leads his group of masked men toward the queen's chamber...
the queen's brother complains about the unsettled feelings among palace ministers but the queen says once heukchi captures jumong and brings him back things will be okay again. just then songju and his men arrive and captures the queen and her brother. next, songju and his men surround daeso and naro but daeso's skills are strong.. however soon an arrow flies pass by daeso as daeso looks up and sees that they are surrounded by more attackers on top of the roofs... daeso has no choice but to surrender his weapon and naro follows as well, throwing down his sword...
majin runs to yeongpo and warns him to hurry and flee amidst chaos inside the palace. yeongpo flees as he sees daeso dragged away... daeso is bound and forced to kneel next to the queen, seolran, and all his men... daeso demands to know who is behind such scheme and king geumwa steps out and says he is merely reclaiming his position. the queen speaks up and warns him in no time the sachuldo army will be headed toward them, however geumwa orders the head of daeso's buyeo army to be taken out and daeso asks budeukbul what is going on. budeukbul says at the very moment the sachuldo army are being attacked by heukchi. daeso is furious and appalled beyond speech... meanwhile yesoya reports to yoohwa the happening and yoohwa says she must go out even though soya says it is dangerous to go out.
king geumwa tells daeso to confess his offense but the queen asks what offense. king geumwa says daeso is guilty of treason w/ han nation and causing misery to the lives of buyeo ppl. the queen won't back down and says geumwa is one who is guilty of offense and geumwa orders the men to take the queen to her chamber and keep her under house-arrest. the queen is taken out and runs into the arriving yoohwa and yesoya. the queen accuses yoohwa of one who schemed all this for geumwa and vows to have her killed...meanwhile daeso tells geumwa he will do as geumwa wills as long as geumwa will spare the queen and geumwa says until the ppl and nation of buyeo is settled, daeso must remain imprisoned and orders songju to take daeso away. daeso steps out and looks up, watching as the moon disappears...
next geumwa comforts yesoya over her suffering and yesoya replies her suffering is nothing compared to yoohwa's. geumwa tells yoohwa there's nothing to worry now and yoohwa is tearful...
the queen is still sure that sachuldo's maga administer will come to their rescue even though her brother thinks otherwise. yeongpo has fled from the palace w/ majin, and they find out everything's changed overnight. yeongpo is worried how his father might treat him now, but then he is sure that geumwa won't abandon him since he is a victim too, thus yeongpo says he will return to the palace. majin stops him and says not to return since yeongpo came back to buyeo w/ han's minister jin and yeongpo realizes majin is right since geumwa detests han as an arch enemy.
king geumwa sits on his throne again and the court congratulates his reclamation of power. geumwa vows he will restore buyeo and asks all his ministers to help him. heukchi returns and geumwa goes out to welcome him. heukchi brings w/ him the sachuldo governors and geumwa asks about maga's administer. heukchi says he tried to flee thus he was killed. geumwa then tells heukchi to free the governors' bonding ropes and heukchi is surprised saying they are offenders who went againt the king. geumwa insists and they are freed. geumwa says he is saddened by maga's death and states he needs sachuldo and asks the remaining three to assist him. the remaining governors state geumwa is righteous and vows to serve him loyally.
the queen's maid reports maga's governor is dead and the rest of the sachuldo governors were taken into custody by heukchi and brought back to buyeo. the queen is appalled and nearly faints.... meanwhile daeso sits in his prison cell as he rethinks the happenings...minister jin tells budeukbul since geumwa is in control again this means buyeo and han nation are in dire relationship again. budeukbul says no such thing, and minister jin reminds him buyeo attacked han's jinbeom and imdun. budeukbul says such thing won't happen again and asks jin to trust him.
geumwa continues to be bothered by budeukbul's heeding that geumwa must first abandon jumong as he is a threat to buyeo.. in bongae mountain, oyi reports the news of geumwa and buyeo to jumong. jumong asks about daeso and ohyi states daeso and the queen were arrested. ohyi states now they don't have to worry about yoohwa and yesoya anymore, but yeomieul appears troubled... mopalmo, musong and mudeok are overjoyed by the news and mudeok is tearful thinking she can meet yoohwa again. musong asks if she is going back to buyeo and says she can't no matter what.
in biryu, wootae is captured and imprisoned and soseono comes for a visit and is told by the ward to make it quick. soseono asks if wootae is injured and wootae replies she needn't worry over him as he was not tortured. soseono states songyang has not harmed their merchant group either and asks wootae to be patient and vows she will surely save him. wootae says his only wish is that their child is born safely, and soseono vows their child will be jolbon's king. sayong reports to yeontabal and soseono that geumwa has regained power in buyeo. gyepil asks about daeso and sayong says he is imprisoned. soseono says this could be a positive opportunity for them, but yeontabal says that is still unclear since even if the opportunity comes they are not prepared. soseono says she will go to buyeo and ask geumwa for help. yeonchaeryeong and yangtak are worried about the news and tells chansoo to go to biryu to see song yang, but chansoo states he will not go and he will not be involved in his mother and yangtak's schemes to ruin soseono anymore. chansoo leaves and yangtak says chansoo is still young. then yangtak says he will keep an eye on soseono's actions..
yeongpo and majin are living as commoners and after a meal they realize they have no money. the keeper is angry and demands money, but yeongpo bursts out he is buyeo's second prince yeongpo. the owner laughs and scoffs if he is yeongpo then he is daeso and orders his men to arrest yeongpo. the men start to kick yeongpo and majin and the two finally flee after a heavy beating.
geumwa summons budeukbul to his chamber and asks about yeongpo. budeukbul says soldiers are looking for him thus they will find yeongpo soon. geumwa then says it is time to summon jumong to buyeo and budeukbul is against it. geumwa says jumong's presence in buyeo will not bring harm to buyeo, but budeukbul asks what about the damul army then and the migrants of gojoseon, and geumwa says nothing....
meanwhile, in bongae mountain, moogol reports to jaesa buyeo's heukchi general has arrived to their mountain fort. heukchi brings w/ him songju and heukchi reports both yoohwa and yesoya are safe. jumong is relieved and thanks him. songju then says the king has summoned jumong. jumong talks to yeomieul in private and jumong says since king geumwa has sent ppl here to summon him he should go. yeomieul tells jumong he is no longer buyeo's prince, rather he is the head of damul army and soon to be king of their new nation. yeomieul reminds jumong geumwa is one who is even scarier than daeso...
jumong goes to buyeo w/ his trios and the citizens of buyeo shout out hooray as they welcome their heroic prince back.. among them yeongpo stands and wonders why jumong is coming back to buyeo and why the citizens are cheering for jumong. jumong arrives in buyeo palace, and is met by an anxious yoohwa and yesoya... jumong kneels and bows before yoohwa who is tearful and speechless. jumong then glances at soya who is also tearful and jumong smiles at the two.. while geumwa arrives. jumong goes up to geumwa and geumwa smiles a mysterious smile at him....
jumong ep. 54:
while geumwa and jumong reunite, the queen's maid brings meal to daeso in the prison. the prison guard tells the maid to leave right after dropping off the food, but the maid slips money into the guard's hands and asks to speak to daeso for a moment. the maid asks daeso to maintain strong for the queen's sake, and daeso tells her to leave, but the maid then says jumong has arrived in buyeo and daeso is furious and begins an outburst. daeso yells for the guard and orders the guard to open up for he must see the king, but the guard says until the king gives him permission he cannot open the cell. daeso screams but the guard leaves, dragging the maid out w/ him. the maid returns to the queen and her brother, and the queen asks what daeso said about jumong being in buyeo and the maid says nothing only looking upset. the queen then asks whether there's news about yeongpo yet and the maid says no news. the queen sighs and wonders how it is that one of her son is in jail while the other gone missing, all the while their enemy jumong is welcomed by the king.
geumwa and jumong sit together as they talk alone and geumwa says what jumong has accomplished w/ the damul army is more than what he and haemosu were able to accomplish. geumwa then says hans will not sit still and once their yeodong army moves, it will be hard for the hundreds of damul warriors to fend off the 10s and thousands of yeodong army men. geumwa says reality is different from aspiration and asks jumong to return to buyeo now. meanwhile, budeukbul asks to see head general heukchi and tells him the king is asking jumong to return to buyeo, and tells heukchi if jumong agrees then it is fine, but if jumong declines, then heukchi must kill jumong. heukchi is surprised and asks if that is what the king wants. budeukbul explains if jumong remains separate from buyeo, then his damul army will throw buyeo into a disarray against han and buyeo is not prepared to go against han. heukchi is troubled in thought and budeukbul urges him to do the sure thing for geumwa and buyeo.
jumong leaves geumwa's chamber and thinks over his reply to geumwa, saying he cannot abandon the damul warriors, and geumwa's words that once he thought it was best for jumong to leave w/ migrants, but things are different now, since he was unable to do anything for jumong then, but now he wants to give everything to jumong. jumong thinks this and remembers yeomieul's warning that geumwa must be feared more so than daeso. jumong walks off and heukchi appears and watches as jumong leaves.... meanwhile, in bongae mountain, yeomieul gets a bad feeling and soryeong also says she's been unsettled since jumong went toward buyeo, but the starchild says they should worry not about jumong's safety but instead it is yeomieul who is at risk. soryeong asks if someone is trying to get rid of yeomieul, and the starchild replies assasins are nearing yeomieul.
jumong goes to see his mother and wife afterwards, and jumong tells yoohwa he has been heartached since hearing news that she was ill and now that she is recovering he feels at ease at last. yoohwa compliments soya saying it is all her doing and says soya must be carrying a child who is like jumong. jumong appears worried and yoohwa asks what's wrong but jumong says nothing. geumwa meets w/ budeukbul who asks if jumong agreed to part from damul army and geumwa says jumong was unable to follow his wish. budeukbul urges geumwa to be strong, and that the history of buyeo must not be made by damul, but rather by geumwa. budeukbul says they must get rid of yeomieul who is helping jumong and geumwa is surprised.
later, jumong and yoohwa talk alone and yoohwa asks again what is bothering jumong. jumong confesses to yoohwa geumwa has asked him to shut down damul army and return to buyeo and he was thrown off by that. yoohwa asks what he will do and jumong says he is unsure. yoohwa says she will support his decision but reminds him he and damul army are now one body. at night time, masked assasins arrive in bongae and approach yeomieul who is meditating alone... yeomieul suddenly opens her eyes as the assasins surround her w/ their swords. next, mopalmo is testing his sword when musong rushes in and tells him yeomieul has been kidnapped. the two rush to the oracle's chamber and are told by soryeong that yeomieul was taken by assasins. an oracle urges mopalmo to hurry and report this to jumong in buyeo and mopalmo agrees and rushes out toward buyeo...
in buyeo, songju is feasting w/ the jae-moo-mook and oh-ma-hyeop trios. songju is interrupted by a guard who says heukchi asked to see him. songju excuses himself and goes out. heukchi asks songju about the men who came w/ jumong and songju reports they are drinking and resting. heukchi tells songju it is possible that the two of them must get rid of jumong and the men. songju is shocked and heukchi sighs... meanwhile jumong goes to the trios and toasts w/ them. hyeopbo asks what is like to see soya again and mari laughs and says it must be the same as when hyeopbo meets a so-and-so. moogeo asks if hyeopbo has a girl he likes too and ohyi laughs and says they are still unsure whether it is a girl or not. hyeopbo tells them to stop already, when songju comes in. mari asks songju why heukchi asked to see him and songju says it is nothing important. songju pours wine for jumong and jumong thanks him for taking care of geumwa and yoohwa in his absense, and songju is without words. both geumwa and yoohwa pace back and forth in their respective chambers as they dwell in thoughts about jumong's future.. while jumong who is with soya watches as soya sleeps, unable to sleep himself troubled by thoughts...
outside the chambers, heukchi has gathered a small army and songju watches them pass by feeling uneasy... next morning yeongpo and majin are scrounched by a food vendor salivating... yeongpo tells majin geumwa must have summoned jumong to buyeo to hand the throne to him. yeongpo says if jumong inherits the throne then it is no reason for him to stay out like so and says he will return to the palace. majin is worried about his safetly but yeongpo orders him to come along. in buyeo palace, budeukbul is told gyeru's yeontabal and soseono have come to meet geumwa. budeukbul says to bring them to him first, and as soseono and yeontabal head that way, soseono sees jumong and yesoya from a distance and soseono watches as they pass. yeontabal comments he did not know jumong is back in buyeo. soseono says geumwa must have summoned him. yeontabal says things are looking good and soseono appears gloomy. the two come before budeukbul and budeukbul asks why they have come to see geumwa. soseono says as he knows gyeru has been under biryu's threats and soseono states if buyeo will help gyeru, gyeru will then return the favor later. budeukbul says nothing and yeontabal asks budeukbul to please help. budeukbul says fine but the time isn't right for geumwa and tells the two to leave buyeo palace and wait for his message outside the palace. yeontabal leaves and tells soseono something is strange. soseono ask why and yeontabal says he clearly told the jaeboo minister he wished to see the king himself, but how is it that budeukbul took control. yeontabal says something is up w/ budeukbul....
jumong meets w/ yoohwa and soya, and jumong tells yoohwa he cannot abandon damul, because that is not his father's will, nor his mother's, nor his. yoohwa nods and says she feels the same. soya wonders how geumwa would react and yoohwa says he would understand. yeongpo and majin return to the palace, and songju tells the news to budeukbul. budeukbul meets w/ yeongpo and yeongpo tells him he wants to see the king. budeukbul stops him and warns yeongpo not to act beyond his place just like a mouse shouldn't look out and think he can have more. yeongpo is furious at the comparison. budeukbul brings yeongpo to geumwa and geumwa is happy to see yeongpo safe. yeongpo says he always believed the king would get his power back. geumwa says buyeo is in trouble now and asks yeongpo to help him restore buyeo. yeongpo is joyful and says he will serve the king faithfully. yeongpo is proud and steps out and tells majin the king was waiting for the day he returns. just then jumong passes by and yeongpo appears happy to see him. yeongpo says the two need to join hands and help geumwa, and jumong says he will go see him after he talks to the king first. jumong arrives in geumwa's chamber w/ budeukbul present. geumwa asks if jumong has made up his mind and jumong apologizes and replies he cannot abandon damul army nor the migrants. jumong says he cannot shut them down just for himself, and geumwa is solemn. budeukbul speaks up and says if jumong doesn't do that, then jumong is putting geumwa in a difficult position and urges jumong to reconsider. geumwa calls out jumong's name, and jumong firmly states he will build a new nation w/ the damul army and migrants he left behind in bongae.
jumong leaves, and budeukbul summons heukchi, and tells him they have to move forward. heukchi goes out and instructs his soliders on when to attack who. meanwhile yeontabal and soseono, along w/ sayong and gyepil wait for budeukbul's message. yeontabal predicts it would be hard for them to meet geumwa on this trip. sayong says it seems buyeo will now be budeukbul's world. soseono asks if geumwa would allow that, but sayong says geumwa was only able to reclaim his power due to budeukbul's help thus if budeukbul is determined he could control geumwa too. gyepil and yeontabal say they should return to gyeru, and soseono says she should at least meet w/ jumong then, but just then song yang appears w/ soldiers and asks if they are here to ask geumwa for help. song yang says he is close to budeukbul and orders his soliders to arrest them all to biryu. meanwhile in buyeo palace, songju awaits heukchi w/ the palace guards prepared. heukchi tells the guards they are protectors of buyeo thus they must carry forward w/out thinking about the past. songju is still troubled and thinks alone for a while...
mopalmo and musong are rushed toward buyeo palace and arrive outside the gate. mopalmo begs to allow him in to see jumong, but the gate ward says they have not received permission for such and orders the two to leave. while inside the palace, jumong tells the trios they should return to bongae mountain. jumong says he will first go and bid farewell to his mother, but songju arrives and tells jumong to hurry and flee buyeo immediately since the head general has ordered to seize jumong and his men. jumong and the trios are running to leave the palace immediately, just as heuckhi and the guards are headed toward them. jumong suddenly stops and says if they leave like this he will not be able to see his mother and wife ever again. jaesa says he must leave immediately, but just then the guards arrive and surround them, ordering jumong to surrender his weapon. next, jumong's group and the palace guards begin a battle.. however soldiers arrive and surround them w/ archiliary, and heukchi steps out among them. heukchi asks jumong to throw away his weapon, and ohyi tells jumong to flee while the trios try to fight them off... jumong surrenders his weapon and tells his men to give up their swords as well. thus the trios reluctantly throw away their swords.
next, heukchi orders them to be tied up by soliders, while geumwa is still pacing around in his chamber.
songju arrives before geumwa and reports to him, budeukbul and heukchi are in the process of getting jumong killed. geumwa is surprised and head out at once. as he goes out he is met by budeukbul and the ministers. budeukbul urges geumwa not to go forward and geumwa is angry. budeukbul tells geumwa he is trying to kill just one person to save buyeo. geumwa says even if jumong dies the damul will not die and budeukbul then states if jumong is allowed to return to bongae now buyeo will never get another chance to restore itself against han and budeukbul along w/ the ministers beg geumwa to reconsider, and geumwa says nothing. meanwhile, yoohwa asks yesoya if she would go w/ jumong to bongae mountain, and yesoya says she will remain by yoohwa for now, and when the child is born she will then go to bongae. just then a maid comes in w/ news that jumong has been arrested.
yoohwa goes to see geumwa and demands an answer. geumwa asks her to calm down and explains the ministers have arrested jumong to stop the damul army. geumwa says he will go and talk to jumong himself and try to persuade him again to give up on damul army. yoohwa is emotional and states jumong is not one who will be persuaded, and geumwa says if jumong will not give in then he and damul will become buyeo's downfall. at this yoohwa is appalled. next, geumwa goes before jumong and the trio who are knelt down in the courtyard. jumong asks geumwa if this is all geumwa's will, and geumwa asks jumong to give up on damul and return to buyeo as crown prince who will inherit everything. jumong replies the king has changed and says even if geumwa gives him the throne he will not accept it. jumong asks geumwa not to abandon damul warriors who were once geumwa's commarade. geumwa states if jumong and damul build a new nation in geumwa's lifespan then it is the same as going against buyeo. jumong argues he is trying to fight han nation how can geumwa say he is going against buyeo. jumong says what he intends is what haemosu wants from heaven above. at this geumwa is furious and orders jumong to be thrown into prison.
after jumong and the trios are taken away, budeukbul tells geumwa he must kill them now.

3 years have passed.....
in jolbon, yangtak and yeonchaeryeong tells everyone song yang will be moving to gyeru from now on because biryu has not been in good condition since last year. chansoo complains they are already making offerings to him it is too much for him to reside here, and yangtak agrees they should decline, but yeonchaeryeong says they have no choice since they are w/out army to fight song yang who is in need. soseono assures her aunt there is nothing to worry saying she will go on a merchant trip to haeng-in nation w/ salt for money. at night, soseono thinks alone when her maid comes to tell her ssn's sons, biryu and ohnjo are soundly asleep, and ssn in turn asks the maid to take good care of the kids while she is away on business. soseono then goes w/ yeontabal and sayong to their distant secret land to check on wootae who is training an army. wootae asks ssn about the children and ssn says they are fine thus he needn't worry. wootae reports to yeontabal the soilders are picking up their skills and in no time they will be as skilled as any other army, and sayong says that is rightful since they have invested a lot in them, and ssn says to send over 50 soliders 4 days later to gyeru when song yang will arrive. sayong states that is the day when they finish song yang, and yeontabal tells wootae to prepare himself, and wootae vows he will give back all the shame and ridicule song yang has given then, but soseono asks him to be calm and cautious in this important time and wootae agrees.
meanwhile in bongae mountain, mopalmo continues to hammer away making steel weapons and gears for jumong and the damul ppl.. with musong relentlessly helping while harrassing.... jumong and the trios along w/ the damul army appears to have continued their saga defeating various han tribes... jumong returns to bongae mountain and mopalmo apologetically states he failed again in making steel battle vest. jumong assures him that is not a small feat and tells mopalmo he has been damul's greatest contributor and if mopalmo's hands and body are worn down that is a great loss to damul and asks mopalmo to look after his health before anything else, and at this mopalmo is touched. in hyeonto, yangjeong gets a visit from song yang of jolbon. song yang asks why yangjeong has summoned him, and yang jeong shows him the map showing all of jumong and damul army's conquers, from chang-cheon-gok, to joongsan, to gyesoo-jok, to dongman-jok and even seonmi-jok, and now hyeonto is even threatened.... songyang replies jolbon is at yangjeong's service if in need, and yang jeong states he will build up jolbon to eliminate jumong and the damul, and then attack buyeo.. songyang appears shocked and yang jeong asks if song yang will help saying if jolbon assists him then it will benefit jolbon greatly in the future. song yang replies jolbon will do everything it can for yang jeong. next, dongseon returns from his trip to dongmoon border checking on the state of daeso and yang seolran, and reports to yang jeong both are suffering greatly. yang jeong's minister says it is expected as dongmoon boarder is an outskirt of an outskit land.. and when dongseon tells yangjeong buyeo palace appears to have no intention of calling back daeso anytime soon, yang jeong yells out and swears in geumwa's name, saying even an animal takes better care of its offspring... the minister wonders if yang jeong should bring daeso and seolran to hyeonto instead, and dongseon agrees w/ the minister saying buyeo is in disarray, w/ many citizens rebelling..
in buyeo, mawuryeong heads a holy ceremony w/ sacrificial of lamb for its blood.. as king geumwa, queen wonhu and many buyeo heads present.. admist this, prince yeongpo has sent majin out to fetch some alchohol and yeongpo drinks wine at once.. despite majin telling him to slow down since the king has ordered yeongpo house-arrest. yeongpo replies he is already low.. and states no matter how geumwa tries to please the heavens through the shrines and offerings, the only way to save buyeo is through a new king.. and laughs as he drinks more alchohol. just then songju arrives and tells yeongpo the king has summoned for him to attend court.. and yeongpo nervousely rushes to the king's palace for the court session.. the king arrives and asks the ministers about the buyeo's state and everyone reports about buyeo's various troubles within the nation and w/ its neighbors. the queen's brother says they must ask han nation for help now, but budeukbul scoffs and says the hans will not help buyeo, and instead they will attack buyeo if they find out how weak buyeo has become. budeukbul suggest to the king they should attack haeng-in and okjeo instead to settle the buyeo people's unrest... after court session, the queen asks geumwa to call daeso back now, but the king says when the time comes he will do so and sends the queen away. the queen won't leave and asks geumwa again, and the queen's brother agrees saying daeso has repent enough. however, geumwa says daeso has not changed, and the queen says the one who has changed is noneother than the king. and wonders how it is that geumwa can so easily forgive the sachuldo governors who betrayed him but he can't even forgive his son even in such a long time.. but geumwa is unwavered and raises his voice and tells the queen to go and see for herself how daeso really spends his days...
in dongmoon guarding fort, daeso seems to spending his days drinking alchohol while being entertained by bloody fights. on this day, a group of commoners have been captured and daeso orders the men to fight against a newly recruited warrior and states whoever wins will be handsomely rewarded. thus a fight breaks between the new solider and the group of street gangs, and daeso laughs as he enjoys watching the solider skillfully kill off all the commoners. daeso claps and asks the soldier to announce his name, and the man states he is named bubuno. daeso tells naro to go against bubuno next, but naro says they can face off on another day and reminds daeso seolran is waiting for him. daeso laughs cynically and remarks naro has become seolran's servant already... daeso returns and seolran expresses her frustration and asks how much longer must they live like this, and daeso asks how much long does she plan to live on asking the same question. seolran asks daeso if he feels any shame, and daeso wonders what other choice he has since it doesn't look like he will be returning to buyeo palace any time soon. seolran asks daeso if this is all his amounts to and reminds him while daeso is wasting away, jumong has more than 400 men. seolran says the world is laughing at daeso saying he is the one whom they thought was a dragon, but the real dragon is jumong. daeso is furious and orders her to shut her mouth but seolran continues and says she will go to hyeonto fort if this is how they are gonna live.
meanwhile near jolbon, wootae is waiting to ambush song yang as he passes through, and as song yang approaches, wootae gives his men order to shoot arrows at song yang's army men. song yang flees as more of his soliders are attacked by the ambushed men. sayong joins in on the attack as well and he and wootae are slashing away the jolbon soldier one by one... approaching song yang in no time. wootae tells song yang the very land they stand upon is his burial site, but just as wootae is about to kill off songyang, songyang's head general stabs him from behind and wootae falls to his knees while song yang flees the scene on horse. wootae bursts out blood, and tells sayong to tell soseono he is sorry that he could not complete her wish w/ her.... wootae calls out for soseono two times and dies... sayong rushes to soseono who is waiting nearby and yeontabal asks if they failed, but sayong says song yang was wounded but fled, and they captured song yang's army. soseono is joyful and asks sayong why he is sad then, and sayong states wootae has passed away. soseono is speechless and yeontabal asks if wootae really died, and sayong apologetically replies yes... soseono remains silent and begins walking away... sayong tells her he is sorry, but soseono grips a tight fist and states they are to prepare their army toward gyeru... soseono says this while holding back her tears and yeontabal watches empathetically.
soseono brings her army and attacks yeonchaeryeong's group. soseono puts her sword on yangtak and yeonchaeryeong warns them song yang will not sit still when he finds out, but yeontabal yells out they no longer fear song yang. yeontabal comes in and orders everyone there to be taken away.. just then gyepil comes out cheering and when he sees everyone's sorrowful reaction gyepil wonders what's going on, but just then a body covered in white sheet is brought in.. soseono and gyepil approach the body, and when soseono unveils wootae's still face.. gyepil and soseono begin wailing, with soseono putting her face on wootae's... song yang has fled to biryu and orders his servant to gather all the jolbon army to attack gyeru, but the general says they must wait since soseono seems to have built a strong force.
near a river, soseono and yeontabal's gyeru group give wootae their last respect as his body is elevated on wood blocks which are then lit by fire... afterwards, soseono returns to gyeru fort, and takes back her position as chief of gyeru, and the gyeru ppl cheer for her. soseono silences the crowd and announces they have lived under songyang's oppression but they will no longer do so and now they will make song yang kneel before them. soseono announces gyeru will be set independent from jolbon and they will make a new nation. the crowds cheer more at this and yeontabal smiles approvingly at her. next, yeonchaeryeong, chansoo and yangtak are dragged before everyone. yeonchaeryeong calls out her brother yeontabal but he replies everything is in in chief soseono's hands... chansoo shouts to everything is his fault and asks soseono to kill him and spare his mother. soseono approaches them and orders their bonds to be freed. soseono states chansoo was once their chief, and tells her aunt she has already lost a person she cherishes and she no longer wants to see blood within them. yangtak kneels and thanks for her pardon.
next sayong suggests they should attack song yang before he regroups and yeontabal tells soseono gyeru is in her hands and she must not be engulfed in sorrow at this time. sayong advises soseono to attack biryu and kill song yang now, and soseono goes out to think alone as she makes up her decision. next day, soseono and sayong rush to bongae mountain to see commander jumong, who is discussing their future as it is time for them to leave bongae mountain. when jumong is alerted with soseono's arrival he rushes to greet her. soseono bows and asks if he's been well, but jumong asks why she's all the way here.. sayong smiles at hyeopbo as well as their eyes meet. soseono and jumong meet alone and jumong asks if yeontabal is well and soseono answers yes. soseono then says she has been kept up w/ jumong's conquers and informs him she has been preparing army as well and now they have 200 soldiers. jumong is surprised and soseono then says she has come here to help jumong set his new nation. soseono says as long as jumong remains in bongae it will be difficult for him to set a new nation, and if he wants to build a new nation he must find new land. jumong asks if such land exists and soseono asks him to come to jolbon. soseono says there are many ppl living in jolbon already and there is already commerce established, hence she will help commander jumong build his new nation there.
meanwhile, sayong and hyeopbo catch up. and sayong says he had worried a lot about him as hyeopbo was involved in so many battles over the years, but now that they've met in person he is finally at peace. hyeopbo laughs and brushes off as saying that is what he always does anyway, but sayong appears angry and says the life of a person no one knows for sure thus hyeopbo must be careful as well, and hyeopbo agrees, then asks if something has happened in gyeru. sayong sighs and says wootae has passed away, and hyeopbo is shocked by the news.
jumong sends soseono and sayong off, and soseono says she will await his answer. jumong asks her to leave safely, and the two groups part as they bow farewell... jumong then watches soseono get on her horse and the two exchange another glance and she leaves bongae mountain w/ sayong... as they leave hyeopbo sighs at soseono's difficult life, saying wootae has passed away. jumong appears shocked by such news, and hyeopbo tells jumong wootae was killed by song yang's assasin. at this news, jumong watches soseono leave with intensed look.... sayong asks soseono if she thinks jumong will agree to their help and soseono says she's not sure, as sayong states it cannot be an easy decision for jumong.
jumong discusses soseono's offer w/ his trios, and mari says that is great news for them and by going to jolbon all their issues will be solved. hyeopbo and ohyi agree as well, saying jolbon ppl have been oppressed by han nation as well and they are in the same fate as them. however, jaesa speaks up and says it is not so easy. jaesa says if they set their nation there, who will reign their new nation, will it be king jumong or will it be queen soseono. the oh-ma-hyeop trio state soseono is not that kind of person, but jae-moo-mook say if they are not careful they will only end up w/ nothing after being used by soseono's group. hyeopbo raises his voice and asks jae-moo-mook if they know about jumong and soseono's relationship, but jumong tells everyone to be quiet. jumong says he now knows how they feel, and he will make the final decision after consideration. just then the starchild tells soryeong yeomieul has arrived. soryeong asks what she has said, and the starchild says yeomieul told her the 3-legged-bird must find a new nation.
song yang meets w/ the chieves of the small jolbon nations, and song yang tells the leaders that hyeonto's yang jeong has offered to help them, thus they will attack soseono together. later, jumong tells his men he will go on a trip w/ ohyi to buyeo. in dongmoo boarder, daeso receives a message from yangjeong asking them to come to hyeonto and daeso tells naro to prepare for going to hyeonto.
meanwhile, in buyeo palace, the queen watches as yesoya and yoohwa wonder around the palace w/ jumong's son, and the queen sighs... the queen's brother tries to cheer her up by saying the reason why damul has not attacked them is because of yoohwa and yesoya and the baby, thus they should think positive and remember that they have great hostage in their hands. yoohwa tells yesoya she will ask geumwa to send soya and yuri to jumong now. soya says the timing isn't right, and that it is better to wait til jumong sets his new nation first, or else it will put damul and buyeo in difficult situation. jumong and ohyi are in disguise in some town near buyeo and jolbon, and ohyi finds out hyeonto is sending army toward jolbon and just then jumong watches as daeso and yang seolran are passing through....
jumong ep. 57 (aired tuesday december 5th, 2006):
ohyi reports to jumong the news that hyeonto is sending army towards jolbon, and that if hyeonto's army joins force w/ song yang then they will destroy gyeru. just then jumong spots daeso and yang seolran passing through toward hyeonto, and ohyi tells jumong daeso has not been able to return to buyeo since he was sent to the border. jumong suspects daeso is involved in the matter of jolbon attacking gyeru. seolran and daeso arrive in hyeonto fort and daeso says he has no face to meet yang jeong, but yang jeong comforts him and says an opportunity can come again and offers daeso a drink to undo all his sufferings in the border. yang jeong says geumwa is pathetic fool who cannot stop jumong and daeso asks what happened for yang jeong to call him here this time, and yang jeong says soseono is regaining her power in gyeru and he will send army to song yang in jolbon to attack soseono together. yang seolran compliments her father saying it is a good decision, but daeso says nothing. yang jeong then asks daeso to head the force from hyeonto toward jolbon, saying he is giving daeso a chance throwing away any bad feeling w/ geumwa... daeso is struggling w/ the decision, and seolran tells him not to waver anymore, and daeso says he cannot abandon buyeo, and no matter what he is still a buyeo prince how can he be leading a han army... however seolran reminds him the world has already forgotten about the prince sent to border and it is time daeso threw away the past.
meanwhile, the new warrior bubunno asks naro if daeso would really forsake buyeo to serve han nation, and naro tells him it is not his business and their job is only to follow daeso, but bubunno says he cannot serve daeso if he betrays buyeo. naro is scolding him but just then he sees jumong and ohyi pass by and naro is shocked. daeso goes to yangjeong and tells him he is a prince of buyeo thus he cannot agree to yangjeong's offer. yangjeong scolds him saying han nation has already abandoned buyeo and at this rate buyeo will be ruined soon, and if yangjeong tells the imperial to do so then han nation could attack buyeo anytime. daeso feels threatened, and yangjeong asks him why he must be so stubborn, and daeso says he cannot agree and leaves. daeso goes out and naro rushes back to tell him jumong is currently in hyeonto city. daeso wonders what is going on and heads out w/ naro and a group of steel army men.. they meet up w/ bubunno who's been spying on jumong and bubunno reports jumong is resting in the inn. the steel soldiers are ordered to surround the inn, and bubunno finds out the one who is inside is jumong, head of damul army. while jumong is resting inside, ohyi bursts in and tells him their inn has been surrounded. next, naro orders the soldiers to begin attack, while jumong and ohyi attempt escape. daeso arrives inside and both he and bubunno join in on the fight, but jumong and ohyi flee successfully.. jumong asks ohyi if he's wounded and ohyi replies he is fine. ohyi then asks jumong where they should go next and jumong says toward buyeo...
naro returns to tell daeso they were unable to catch jumong.... meanwhile in buyeo, the people are fighting over food rations as the country has become dire conditioned.. jumong watches children and women gathering scattered rice from the grounds amidst a fight and jumong's heart feels heavy. the two arrive at a eatery and the owner demands to be paid first before food is served since many are eating and fleeing these days. ohyi asks for soup rice and wine, and the owner is surprised that one would still ask for wine. ohyi asks why, and the owner says king geumwa has ordered no alchohol in buyeo for some time. but the owner says if they are willing to pay he can find some wine for them, and jumong declines but asks about buyeo's condition. the man replies everything is in disarray and the soldiers are useless. ohyi wonders if damul commander's wife is still living inside the palace, and the owner says yesoya and yoohwa are harassed by the queen, but due to the king the two are still alive. afterwards, ohyi wonders why geumwa has not sent yesoya to them when he promised jumong such. jumong says king geumwa is holding yesoya and their child as hostage, thus he cannot do anything against buyeo until geumwa sends soya and their child to him.
inside buyeo palace, soya tells the young yuri that yesterday she had a dream about his father and it was so alive. soya tells yuri he must know how great his father is and yuri nods. soya says he could've had a peaceful life but he chose to save the migrants w/ damul army. soya asks yuri what his father's name is and yuri states, jumong. soya is happy and says that is a name he mustn't forget no matter what, and soya embraces her child... king geumwa visits oracle mawuryeong and asks her if she knows about the legend of shijo mountain. mawuryeong asks if he is referring to bi-geum-seo oracle, saying that is what they refer to her and she has not seen her herself. geumwa says he must meet her in person and asks about buyeo's fate. mawuryeong reports no one has ever seeon bi-geum-seo and geumwa says he is determined and he will surely meet her. next, yoohwa comes to geumwa and says she has something to ask him. geumwa invites her to sit. yoohwa says yuri has grown a lot and asks geumwa to send yuri and soya to jumong now. geumwa says he will do so when he returns from his trip. yoohwa asks where he is going and geumwa replies he is going to shijo mountain to meet the legendary oracle woman to see what the future of buyeo holds. hence, geumwa departs from buyeo toward shijo mountain.. and as he leaves the palace gates jumong and ohyi are among the crowd who witness king geumwa's departure...
geumwa and songju, along w/ a few guards arrive in shijo and they are wondering around the mountain on foot, looking for the oracle... a young guard finds a cave and alerts songju, who tries to go inside, but a loud voice of a woman is heard, ordering him to leave immediately .. songju backs away and reports the finding to geumwa, who is sure that the woman is bi-geum-seon oracle. geumwa goes to the cave and tells his subjects to wait for him outside whie he enters the cave alone. songju says it is dangerous but geumwa says he is not afraid, and thus he enters alone/ holding a fire torch. when he gets inside a strong wind blows out his fire, and geumwa yells out he is the emperor of buyeo and he came a long way to meet her and asks bi-geum-seon to show herself. a white-haired oracle appears and says she is bi-geum-seon and she has been waiting for him to come, and that this is his first time here.. geumwa asks if she knew he was coming and bi-geum-seon says he came to find out how to save buyeo, and geumwa replies indeed he did so and asks her to help him understand what he must do. bi-geum-seon says a few years ago he must have seen the sunless light, and the light signifies a new nation will be built, upon the land which was taken from gojoseon to be divided upon many tribes, and the remnants of old joseon will rise up again against buyeo. geumwa asks her if she is saying buyeo will be ruined, and bi-geum-seon answers indeed it will. geumwa is furious and asks how she can say such curse before him, but bi-geum-seon says she is merely delivering the message from the heavens, and she disappears... geumwa comes out of the cave, and says aloud the one who will ruin buyeo is jumong.....
in gyeru, soseono watches as the soliders are training and sayong arrives saying hyeonto's army are headed toward jolbon. yeontabal asks how many and sayong says together w/ songyang's, there will be a total of 2000. soseono tells her father seeing that no message has arrived from bongae yet, it is unlikely that damul army would come afterall... just then, yeonchaeryeong goes to see chansoo, and says he has gone crazy for announcing his decision to fight as a solider. chansoo says that is a way for them to repent their sins and yeonchaeryeong disagrees, but chansoo is firm and says he will go and fight, and leaves. yangtak asks yeonchaeryeong to calm down saying chansoo is still young and doesn't know the fear of war.
yeonchaeryeong wonders if they should flee gyeru and ask songyang for forgiveness instead, and yangtak says songyang would not forgive them and it is better to remain in gyeru.
daeso and seolran return to buyeo palace, and the queen is tearful w/ joy. the two newly arrived bow before her and the queen invites them inside, but daeso says he will meet w/ geumwa first. the queen says the king is not in the palace at present. next, majin runs to tell yeongpo prince daeso has returned. yeongpo is shocked and wonders if geumwa called daeso back, and majin says he is unsure and reports daeso is now in the queen's chamber. inside the queen's chamber, daeso finds out geumwa went to shijo to meet w/ the legendary oracle. the queen complains and wonders what use that is.. and the queen's brother asks daeso if it's okay for him to return to buyeo palace w/out the king's order like so, and daeso says not to worry as he has come to discuss something important w/ the king. yeongpo runs in and tells daeso how much he missed him, and daeso wonders why he didn't come visit in that case, and yeongpo explains himself saying he had been busy all this while too... the queen tells daeso to go and rest after a long journey, and daeso and seolran leave. as the leave, they run into budeukbul, and daeso glances at him w/ hatred while budeukbul bows to show respect. daeso says it's been a long time, and budeukbul asks if he's been well, and daeso says thanks to him he has and he will never forget what he received from budeukbul. budeukbul then asks why daeso is here w/out king's summon and reminds him the punishment for moving post w/out the king's order is death, and daeso scoffs and asks if budeukbul will kill him then, and budeukbul firmly states if that is the king's order than he shall. daeso tells him one thing is for sure, when the day comes his opportunity comes again, the first thing he will do is get rid of budeukbul. just then the queen's brother announces king geumwa has returned.
geumwa asks daeso why he has returned to buyeo palace w/ a summon, and daeso kneels and asks geumwa for forgiveness saying he has plenty repent over his offense of going against the king, and for putting buyeo in bad state. however geumwa says drowning oneself in alchohol and fist fights is not repent, but daeso insists and says he stopped by hyeonto on his way to buyeo, and geumwa is angered asking how it is he went to han's terrioritory w/out the king's approval. daeso replies yang jeong offered daeso to head an army toward jolbon and he declined, and daeso states the han nation has plans to attack buyeo in the future, and asks geumwa to re-instate his position in buyeo palace so he can help geumwa prepare buyeo against the han nation. geumwa says he will trust in daeso one more time, and daeso is emotional..
meanwhile, budeukbul remembers daeso's warning that he will direct his anger toward him before anyone else when the opportunity comes, and just then jaeboo minister comes and tells budeukbul the king has allowed daeso to come back to the buyeo palace and wonders what trouble this might bring for budeukbul..
yesoya tells yoohwa she is worried over yuri's safety now that seolran and daeso have returned, and yoohwa says the king will soon send her and yuri to jumong, and that she will go see him at once about the matter.
geumwa thinks over the prophecy of bi-geum-seon and yeomieul regarding the end of buyeo in the hands of damul, and geumwa is worried by these thoughts, when yoohwa arrives to speak w/ him. yoohwa asks geumwa to send yesoya and yuri to bongae mountain as he promised, and geumwa replies he had thought over it, and it would be difficult for the young yuri to travel so far to bongae mountain, and it is better they wait til yuri is older. yoohwa says that is nonsense and she will make sure the travel is doable for yuri, but geumwa says all the ministers and generals are against it since they fear jumong might attack buyeo, and yoohwa wonders if geumwa wants to keep soya and yuri as hostage. geumwa asks her to not think that way, and to think that they have no choice but to do so, and yoohwa is angry and says that geumwa is making an excuse unlike his true self. yoohwa storms out and goes to soya w/ a worried look. soya asks if the king has agreed to send them, and yoohwa says the king is planning on holding onto soya and yuri as hostage, but tells soya not to worry for she will send them to jumong no matter what happens...
moo-gol returns to bongae mountain from chang-cheon-gok and the maid mudeok welcomes him back. mudeok asks why he's come back so soon, and moo-gol holds her hands and confesses he only sees her whether his eyes are open or shut, and mudeok is embarrassed, while musong is hiding and overhearing these things w/ much dismay. musong returns to the weapon factory, and mopalmo tells him to forget about mudeok now, and musong is frustrated... jaesa and moo-gol are worried why jumong is taking such a long time unlike his previous trips, and mari and hyeopbo assure them ohyi will serve jumong well thus they must be fine. hyeopbo wonders if they should help gyeru whether or not they will join force w/ them, since gyeru and soseono have helped them greatly in the past, but jaesa is cautious and says they cannot give help to ppl who may not return such help in the future. just then mook-jeo comes in to tell them to go outside. mook-jeo tells everyone he and mopalmo have made a new weapon, one of which is an improved version of the dynamite jumong used against imdun and jimbeon, and another is fog dynamite that can hide them in a confrontation. next, sayong arrives asking where jumong is, and hyeopbo replies they went on a scouting trip but have yet to return. sayong appears disappointed at such news as he is urgent...
meanwhile jumong makes his decision and tells ohyi they will go shijo mountain next. ohyi asks why he wants to go there and jumong says there is something he wants to confirm. next, jumong remembers the time when he was tricked by daeso and yeongpo and fell into the quick mud, then saved by soseono...
jumong remembers how he announced himself as buyeo's prince jumong to soseono, and how he told her to remember him since he likes her, but she told him he was a pathetic fool in return... jumong then remembers his mother's words telling him damul bow is buyeo's sacred gift from the heavens, and upon remembering these, jumong enters the dark cave w/in shijo mountain, holding fire torch w/ ohyi by his side. the two find the damul bow, and ohyi asks what that is. jumong states that is the sacred damul bow of buyeo. ohyi asks if he came all the way here just to see it, and jumong says a long time ago he came here w/ daeso and yeongpo once, and back then he broke the bow arch, and he was told that it was a sign that he would bring bad omen to buyeo, and he wants to find out now whether that is true. however, as they look at the bow, ohyi asks where the bow is broken since it is perfectly fine, and jumong is puzzled. jumong then goes up to the bow and shoots an arrow from it.. and a cold wind blows, as the white haired oracle bi-geum-seon appears. the woman bows before him and states, the owner of the damul bow is not buyeo, but rather it belongs to damul army and its commander jumong.
jumong ep. 58 (monday dec. 10th, 2006 broadcast):
jumong tells ohyi that he once broke the sacred damul bow w/ his own hand, and always wondered if such thing meant he was bringing destruction to buyeo and this is why he came to shijo mountain today. however, ohyi points out the damul bow is fine and jumong is surprised, and checks it out himself. upon drawing the bow and shooting an arrow, a gust of wind blows and the shinjo mountain oracle bi-geum-seon appears. the oracle greets jumong and tells him the owner of such damul bow is not buyeo, but rather it is damul army and its commandar jumong. meanwhile, in buyeo palace, songju brings the medical doctor to king geumwa to check on the large dark spot on geumwa's face. the physician is startled and geumwa says he has not been able to sleep since his trip and overnight the mark appeared. back in shijo mountain, bigeumseon tells jumong since many years ago, many oracles have come to shijo mountain awaiting the owner of damul bow to appear, and all of them perished before they could witness it, but now she is able to finally accomplish what the heavens will... bigeumseon clearly tells jumong the damul bow's owner is commandar jumong, but jumong says the bow is a sacred item for buyeo, however bigeumseon reveals the bow does not belong to buyeo and tells jumong to go and look at the body of the bow....
jumong reads the inscription on the bow which reveals it is an imperial item from gojoseon era. bigeumseon states damul bow is a sacred item from gojoseon and it became one body w/ the past emperor of gojoseon.
jumong asks why then did it become buyeo's symbol, and bigeumseon states after gojoseon's downfall, it was hoped that buyeo would revive gojoseon's past glory thus it was given to buyeo, but buyeo betrayed that opportunity from the heavens. bigeumseon says the sacred bow is no longer buyeo's for buyeo has stolen the blood of many gojoseon remnants.., and reveals it is merely finding its true owner, and states damul bow belongs to jumong and asks jumong to gather again the ppl of gojoseon... meanwhile, geumwa has been checked but the physician states he does not know why it has happened. geumwa then says it is not an ailment and wonders if it is an omen instead.. that the omen for buyeo is revealing itself through geumwa...
upon leaving shijo cave, jumong tells ohyi to keep what happened a secret between them and not to reveal it to anyone else. ohyi agrees and the two leave.. with ohyi carrying the bow on his back. in gyeru, soseono tells sayong jumong's answer is rather late.. and sayong says damul is now a powerful force that no one will look lightly upon and for such there will be a lot to worry over. sayong tells soseono they have yet to discuss the matter of who reigns if a new nation is built, and sayong says in that matter, soseono must not back down, and if she builds a new nation w jumong she must be the ruler. but just then yeontabal arrives and says things have gotten urgent since hyeonto has sent army to help song yang, and if they join force they will not be able to defeat song yang... yeontabal asks about jumong and soseono says he has not replied. jumong and ohyi return to bongae mountain, and the trios greet them.. ohyi lowers the bow from his back and orders everyone to get away. hyeopbo wonders what it is and ohyi leaves saying it is nothing.
jumong meets w/ the trios and mari reports gyeru's sayong came by while jumong was away and update jumong on the happenings in jolbon. hyeopbo urges jumong to help gyeru but jaesa says damul should not be responsible for gyeru's destiny, and hyeopbo raises his voice and yells at jaesa saying they should help gyeru if they are to be destroyed by han, and jaesa yells back saying he is not saying not to help but he is saying to be cautious about it. jumong tells them to be quiet and says he'll handle it. jumong goes out and tells ohyi to bring the sacred item to the star child. jumong and ohyi put the boxed sacred object in the oracle's chamber and leaves. soryeong asks starchild what it is and starchild says it is damul bow and it now belongs to damul army and the bow and jumong will build new nation together.
in buyeo, yeongpo finishes visiting geumwa and sighs.. but majin tries to cheer him up. yeongpo then asks majin what he can do for geumwa and that he would do everything to help buyeo. majin says at a time like this yeongpo should be greeting daeso. just then daeso and seolran return to buyeo palace, after tying up loose end in dongmoon fortress. daeso asks the queen about geumwa's state and the queen says it is hard to see him so and tells daeso to go and have a look himself at the oracle's palace. daeso and seolran arrive at mawuryeong's shrine, and the two are startled to see geumwa with his facial distortion. daeso cries out and asks why this is happening, and geumwa tells him he is not in pain thus daeso should not worry. daeso then asks mawuryeong how to cure this and she replies she is doing what she can putting up a shrine but it is not improving...
mopalmo is carefully laying out the newly manufactured explosive and gas dynamite and jumong is brought over to see how they work. mopalmo demonstrates how they perform, and jumong displays a look of satisfaction and tells his men they have worked hard... back in buyeo palace, geumwa sits on his throne behind a satin curtain and tells his subjects he has called back daeso to the palace and tells them to serve daeso. daeso tells everyone he will do everything he can to develop buyeo and asks everyone to help him.
yeongpo returns to his chamber after court session and regrets he did nothing while daeso was away.. majin tries to comfort him saying daeso wants to work w/ everyone, but yeongpo says daeso says such infront of everyone but behind one's back he will stab you... meanwhile daeso and seolran visit the queen who urges him to pull buyeo through their future and tells daeso geumwa has become very weak, and he is realizing the importance of blood line.. the queen then tells seolran she must do well too to help daeso and she should focus on getting pregnant, and if seolran is unable to deliver a child they have no choice but to give daeso a concubine. seolran is surprised and goes out, but runs into yesoya passing by holding her son yuri, and seolran suddenly gets an idea... haochen gives seolran medicine from daeso to help her w/ her fertility but seolran becomes furious, and tells haochen to go and fetch a medicine man.
in bongae mountain, jumong remembers bigeumseon's words, that the reason why gojoseon could not become an indestructible nation is because it was divided, and bigeumseon warns jumong unless he gathers strength together he will not be able to receive the remaining two sacred objects.. jumong remember bigeumseon saying there were a total of 3 sacred objects from gojoseon and once jumong fetches all three he will be the new emperor of gojoseon. jumong had asked what the two remaining were but bigeumseon replies it is not clear whether or not jumong could become the owner of the remaining two yet. bigeumseon says jumong is not the only one who was chosen by the heavens, and reminds him haemosu was chosen by the heavens but he failed to carry out the fate, and jumong could be like that as well.. jumong asks how he can receive the two objects, and bigeumseon's reply was jumong must find them by himself, and that the future of jumong will be extremely difficult and no one will open a road for him, but he must find and built the path for himself by himself.... and upon saying these bigeumseon disappeared. jumong remembers this and remains undecided.. while mari and hyeopbo are getting anxious over jumong's tardy decision, saying gyeru is in such urgent state. they then ask ohyi what was in the wooden box he brought back and ohyi says he doesn't know it either. hyeopbo says he's strange but ohyi brushes them off and asks mari for help. mari asks what and ohyi asks to learn to read and write. mari says as long as ohyi is sincere he will do his best to teach him. ohyi says thanks and goes out, and hyeopbo wonders what ohyi is hiding.. but mari says ohyi must have his reason and he is not one who would trick them.
meanwhile in gyeru, sayong says they cannot depend on damul army and they must find a way to stop songyang by themselves. gyepil says they are not strong enough, while soseono and yeontabal remain wordless. yangtak goes to yeonchaeryeong who asks what soseono has decided on. yangtak says they have no choice now, and yeonchaeryeong says to fight is to die, but yangtak says it is too late to beg with song yang now and as chansoo is doing, they should focus on finding a way to fight song yang. soseono watches as her men are in training, with chansoo among them, and just then sayong arrives w/ a female bodyguard telling sosoeno the new girl will serve soseono from now on. the guard introduces herself as hoyeon to soseono, and sayong stops the men from training. sayong calls out 2 men in training and tells hoyeon to show chief soseono her skills. hoyeon beats up the 2 men and soseono is pleased. sayong asks for her reaction and soseono comments hoyeon is impressive, and tells sayong to pick out from the group the highest skilled men and sayong asks what for, but soseono says she will explain slowly.
in hyeonto, songyang has come to visit yangjeong who asks about gyeru's state, and songyang says they are trying to find a way to fight in the upcoming war, but they are without much resource. songyang then asks yangjeong to make songyang the king of jolbon, once it is fully united. yangjeong agrees and his minister is surprised, and song yang bows and thanks him for his promise and says he will never forget yangjeong's help. songyang leaves, and the minister asks yangjeong if he willl really help songyang, and yangjeong says after they defeat gyeru, jolbon will be han nation's colony, thus it is no matter that songyang is king, since yangjeong is the one who really reigns jolbon, and he will for the time being use songyang as much as he is worth. in bongae mountain, jumong summons mari and jaesa and asks the two if they know anything about the old joseon, and mari says all he knows is it was destroyed at wang-jeong fortress, its capital, but the details are unknown to him. jaesa says he is the same and asks jumong why he's bringing up the story of old joseon. jumong says the damul army is bringing along the remnants of old joseon, and the nation they are building is upon old joseon land as well thus they need to know the foundation which they build upon. mari says there are surely records and objects left from that nation, and jumong wonders where they can find such, and jaesa says he knows a man who likes to collect such items and suggests they go see him to see if he has any items. the three of them head out and they arrive in the house of cheon gyo-su, and jaesa introduces them to each other. master cheon welcomes them in and jumong thanks them. when they head in jumong asks master cheon about old joseon's records, but master cheon replies most are already destroyed, but as he knows it, a few might remain in han or buyeo safe. jumong asks if there is a way to find them, and master cheon says if he happens to go to han or buyeo for business he will try and get ahold of them. jumong requests him to do so and master cheon then says though he has no records he does have a item, but it is rather precious so he cannot just give it to them. jumong says how he can have it and cheon asks damul army's protection over their merchant group and jumong agrees. master cheon brings a map to them and says it is the map of old joseon lands, and the three of them are amazed at how wide spread the old joseon was..
in buyeo palace, yeongpo visits daeso and tells him to take it easy since he's only returned not long ago, and daeso says he's fine and tells yeongpo to leave if he's done talking. yeongpo invites daeso over to his chamber for special wine, and daeso scolds yeongpo for doing such when geumwa has ordered the entire nation to be sober, and daeso tells yeongpo to leave. as yeongpo leaves, naro brings bubunno in, and daeso tells naro to prepare a group of warriors to take to bongae mountain to keep track of jumong's actions, and daeso personally tells bubunno to head that mission. meanwhile, as yesoya and yuri are visiting yoohwa, the maid comes in w/ a bow of nourishment medicine for yuri and as yesoya is about to feed it to yuri, yoohwa gets a bad vibe and tells soya to stop, then goes and fetches a silver hairpiece and sticks in in the medicine and sees that it is poisionous. yoohwa says that must be seolran's doing and soya says they should alert the king, but yoohwa says it is no use to tell the king.
in bongae mountain, jumong shows everyone the map of old joseon's wide spread, and tells his group to prepare their departure toward gyeru. jaesa asks what about the matters they should first consider before going to gyeru, and jumong says he is not going to gyeru to save soseono alone, but that he is going there to check out the land of old joseon, and at this time it is not important who will reign the new nation. in gyeru, soseono prepares the highly skilled group of guards to prepare for assassination of song yang. yeontabal says it is no use since song yang must have skilled guards around him, but soseono says she realizes so, but she has an idea, which is to sneak in to biryu through wine barrels since songyang will need a large supply of wine to greet the soilders from hyeontto, thus sayong and the warriors are disguised as a wine maker, and push in barrels of wine w/ soseono and weapons hidden inside... the biryu general is about to check inside the barrel containing soseono but sayong distracts him w/ a bowl of wine and the gyeru group successfully sneaks into biryu.. meanwhile, jumong and his army leave their mountain fort, and they are watched by bubunno and his men...
jumong ep. 59 (tuesday 12-12-06 broadcast):
bubunno and his group watch from above, as jumong and the damul army depart from bongae mountain toward jolbon's gyeru. in biryu, sayong and soseono are just getting into the fort when another general stops them to check the barrels. sayong says they are merchants from gaemak nation and sneaks some coins to the man as bribery to skip a second check on the barrels. next, in an alley somewhere, soseono hands a sac of powder to chansoo to put into the wine. chansoo wonders if they would draw too much attention if they kill the army w/ such power but sayong says the power will not kill anyone it will only make a person lose strength temporarily. thus chansoo follows order while soseono instructs everyone not to fight unless their life is in danger.
bubunno's assistant asks him if he should alert daeso about jumong leaving bongae mountain, but bubunno says no and wait til they find out where he is going first, so bubunno begins following jumong's group. at nighttime, jumong and the damul army are camped out, and bubunno tells his man he will go and kill jumong himself and bring daeso jumong's head. bubunno's assistant is surprised and worried, but bubunno goes ahead w/ his attack. thus, while the damul men are enjoying a display of wrestling strength between moogol and hyeopbo, bubunno begins his quiet attack... hyeopbo wins and calls out jumong to try at it next. jumong steps out and agrees to wrestle against hyeopbo and the crowd cheers. hyeopbo says he has waged a sac of coins and asks jumong what he will wager, and jumong states he will wage the steel sword made by mopalmo. the crowd cheers as jumong and hyeopbo go at it, and bubunno disguised as a damul soilder watches from the crowd w/ curiosity. hyeopbo wins again and jumong tells the dismayed mopalmo he'll have to create another sword for him, and mopalmo scoffs and says what use will that be if jumong can't win, and musong teasingly tells jumong he'll get a piece of wood and cut him a sword, and the crowd laughs with jumong. bubunno watches and is overwhelmed by damul's warm brotherhood, and bubunno leaves without further attack, telling his assistant this is the first time he has witnesses such scene before one is about to wager life away, and states he was thoroughly touched by jumong and the damul army.
the oh-ma-hyeop trio continue to run into discord w/ the jae-moo-mook trio on their war strategy, and jumong announces they will go toward cheon-su first to avoid run-in w/ buyeo, and jaesa says it's a good plan. afterwards, jumong steps outside and watches his soilders asleep on the grounds, and jumong goes through them and covers them w/ blankets... he then stands up and ponders upon what is to come.
jumong remembers the words of master cheon who told him he was going to buyeo for business and he will get jumong the records of old joseon he had wanted, and he will also check on the state of buyeo. jumong also gave master cheon a letter to give to lady yoohwa, after telling him about yoohwa, soya, and yuri being held in buyeo palace as hostage. jumong remembers master cheon's words that he cannot guarantee he will succeed but he will try his best to deliver jumong's letter despite the danger. jumong goes inside, and mari reports 2 of their guards are dead, and someone must be spying on them. jumong says they cannot leak out they are headed toward gyeru, and orders mari to go and find out who is watching them. meanwhile, bubunno and his assistant continue to watch jumong's camp from distance, and the assistant complains about the chill and wishes to return but bubunno says they have to wait and find out where jumong is headed before they can return to daeso in buyeo. the assistant steps away to relief himself and the trios spot him out and ohyi kills him. bubunno and a couple of buyeo guards appear and oh-ma-hyeop begin fighting them off, and bubunno flees after his guards are killed.
in jolbon biryu, soseono, sayong and their men are hiding to check on the soldiers.. while yeontabal is in gyeru thinking over his conversation w/ soseono, asking her not to go on the mission, but soseono insisting on going on the mission herself since the matter concerns the survival of gyeru. yeontabal remembers soseono's promise that she will surely return alive. just then gyepil arrives w/ news that soseono et al have gotten inside songyang's fort safely. yeontabal tells gyepil to prepare their army for departure as well, and goes out to update yeonchaeryeong about their next move, and yeonchaeryeong continues to try and find a way out of war, but yeontabal says they needn't fear war and tells yangtak to prepare.
meanwhile in buyeo palace, the queen invites mawuryeong over to take a look at jaeboo minister's daughter, and upon dismissing the maid, the queen tells the oracle she wants to make the maid daeso's concubine, and mawuryeong agrees saying it will bring good fortune to daeso. yang seolran is anxious and haochen tells her the queen is about to make jaeboo minister's daughter the concubine of daeso, and seolran blames everything on yesoya, for wandering around the palace w/ her young child to make the queen jealouse. seolran then asks about the potion sent to yuri, and haochen says it has not met success.
yoohwa arrives bringing w/ her the potion seolran sent to yuri via palace maid, and seolran acts calm and asks what brings her here and what is the bowl she brings. yoohwa tells seolran she brought her precious nourishment for looking favorably upon soya and yuri, and seolran is momentarily startled then says she doesn't need any nourishment and declines. yoohwa then warns seolran if she ever tries to harm soya or yuri she will only be met w/ tribulation. bubunno returns to buyeo and informs daeso jumong and damul army have left bongae mountain but he was unable to determine where they were headed. naro tells daeso this is a great opportunity for them to attack bongae mountain, thus daeso goes to geumwa and tells him this is their opportunity to attack bongae and asks geumwa to give him an army to go and get rid of jumong's base. geumwa says to wait, and daeso says he will wait for geumwa's approval.. just then yoohwa comes and geumwa sends daeso away. yoohwa is summoned inside, and geumwa invites her to sit, and yoohwa asks geumwa if there's any hope for his condition, and geumwa says if it's from the heavens then there's no way to escape it. yoohwa asks geumwa to free soya and yuri to send them to jumong now and geumwa says not to bring that up, and that he will send them when he sees fit. geumwa says he will take great care of the two while they are in buyeo, but yoohwa says someone attempted to kill yuri, and says if geumwa doesn't send them, then she will and gets up to leave. geumwa raises his voice and tells yoohwa he met w/ the shijo mountain oracle who told him buyeo would be ruined and reminds yoohwa jumong is the one who broke the damul bow, and warns yoohwa w/out geumwa's order yesoya nor yuri will be allow to escape from buyeo thus yoohwa must remember this.. yoohwa weeps and when she goes outside she tells herself it is time for her to part from king geumwa...
next, geumwa tells songju to send bodyguards to yoohwa and yesoya's chambers to keep track of them, and songju is surprised. when yesoya brings yuri to visit yoohwa she is surprised to find the king's guard infront of yoohwa's chamber, and yesoya goes inside to inform the news to yoohwa. yoohwa says she already knows, and tells yesoya they will be leaving buyeo palace soon, and tells soya to make preparations.
the queen's maid informs the queen about geumwa sending guards to watch yoohwa, and the queen is happy by this and says yoohwa will soon know what it feels like to be abandoned by the king.. master cheon arrives in the buyeo palace, and his contact, tae majin, brings him to prince yeongpo. master cheon brings yeongpo a present as token of his sincerity and majin opens it to show yeongpo it is a box of gold and silver. yeongpo is pleased and promises master cheon he will help him in the future. master cheon says he wishes to do business w/ yeongpo and what he wants is records of old joseon and if yeongpo can get it for him he will in return give yeongpo a handsome monetary reward. yeongpo says it shouldn't be so difficult to get ahold of something from a dynasty that is already ruined and master cheon is escorted out by majin. cheon then asks majin to help him meet lady yoohwa, and majin asks why he wishes to see him and says it won't be easy since yoohwa is under house arrest. master cheon says he once met her when he came to buyeo palace and she treated him w/ kindness and he wishes to see her again, and majin bribes the palace guard to allow cheon inside. master cheon goes into yoohwa's chamber and announces he has come under jumong's request and yoohwa is overwelmed by emotions. cheon gives her a scroll saying it is a letter to her from commander jumong and asks her read it. master cheon then leaves, and yoohwa opens jumong's letter at once. in the letter, jumong asks yoohwa for forgiveness, and how whenever there is hardship, yoohwa, yesoya, and yuri are the ones he thinks of, and at times he wants to abandon his fate and run toward them, but he will endure through and accomplish his grand calling. yoohwa then shows the letter to yesoya, who reads w/ tears while yoohwa rocks yuri in her embrace... meanwhile, daeso departs from buyeo palace w/ an army, headed toward bongae mountain, and majin reports this news to yeongpo at once. yeongpo is surprised geumwa approved such and yeongpo says he is one foot too late..
in gyeru, soseono tells her men tonight there will be a feast for the soldiers from hyeonto city, and gives everyone instructions on what to do. she then pulls out a map showing where songyang's chamber is to prepare for their assassination. after dismissing her men, soseono remembers the last time she put her kids down, and how she told the little biryu that she is on her way to avenge for his father and how she promised the little boy that she will stay alive to protect him until he becomes the king of a unified jolbon. soseono remembers this, and says a prayer to wootae asking him to help her kill songyang. meanwhile, jumong tells jaesa to camp their soldiers out on the field, and tells ohyi, mari, and hyeopbo to go to gyeru w/ him, thus jumong and the oh-ma-hyeop trio set off toward jolbon.. when they arrive in gyeru, gyepil greets them and brings them to yeontabal, who tells them soseono has taken a group of warriors to biryu to assassinate songyang, and now all they can do is wait for her to return hoping for her success. jumong is surprised, and when they step out, mari tells him soseono is in danger, and even if they succeed in killing songyang their group would not be able to escape biryu so easily. ohyi and hyeopbo agree, and urges jumong to go and save her. jumong thinks for a moment and tells the trio to go toward songyang's palace.
song yang is greeting the generals from hyeonto and invites them to drink to their mite and after they attack gyeru, they can have all the maids and treasures in gyeru. outside, soseono's men begin setting the place on fire, and songyang is alarmed by such news. songyang comes out and sees the fire burning... while soseono and a small group of men hide and watch as the clumsy and drunk soldiers walk toward the burning fire. soseono then marches into songyang's courtyard and her men begin fighting off songyang's guards.. however more of songyang's soldiers arrive and soon soseono's group is overwhelmed by songyang's soldiers.. songyang tells his army soseono came to kill him thus she mut be captured and killed, and soon soseono gets injured badly by the slashing of a sword upon her arm. sayong tells chansoo to escort soseono away and their group begin fleeing.. with jumong watching from outside the scattering of songyang's soldiers. soseono is in hiding and sayong says her wounds are severe and they must find medicine to save her or else it would be hard for her to survive. chansoo says it is too difficult to escape under the circumstance, but sayong says he must and urges chansoo to go out at once. chansoo leaves, and soseono tells sayong to run w/ the remaining men but sayong will not. meanwhile, songyang orders all the soldiers to go and search for her.
ohyi returns to jumong and tells him soseono's assasination failed and she is deeply injured and currently hiding somewhere in biryu. jumong says it will be hard for her to escape biryu w/ a deep injury, thus they must find her first before songyang. soseono begins to lose her consciousness, while jumong and his trio fight their way around biryu in search of soseono...
jumong ep. 60 (monday, december 18th, 2006 broadcast):
while jumong and his trios are searching for soseono, chansoo and his men are seen by biryu solider who surround them and attack them. chansoo is about to be slashed by an enemy, when a dart knife flies out from somewhere killing the enemy. next, jumong and his trios show up to save chansoo's group, and chansoo leads jumong to soseono. sayong asks how jumong is here, and hyeopbo explains what happened. sayong then asks chansoo if he's got the medicine he asked for and chansoo hands it to sayong. jumong orders the trio to go and be watchful of songyang's men, while he watches as sayong puts medicine on soseono who is unconscious. meanwhile, songyang is getting impatient and furious that soseono has not been found, and songyang orders his general to prepare their army to attack gyeru at once. his general says they are not ready, but songyang orders him to prepare the army right away.
soseono awakes and notices jumong there. chansoo says if it weren't for chief commander jumong they may not have been able to save soseono, and soseono thanks jumong. just then mari comes w/ news that songyang's army is moving. jumong tells them they need to hurry and escort soseono out. jumong tells sayong to take soseono back to gyeru, and wait for him and the damul army to come to their aid, and to not do anything until they come, and sayong agrees. next jumong and his trio take off toward the damul army, while sayong hurries and takes soseono back to gyeru to heal her. jumong and oh-ma-hyeop return to bongae and mari tells jae-moo-mook that although soseono failed in her assassination attempt she got rid of many of biryu's soldiers. jumong says they will have to assassinate the han army who've joined songyang's army since that will be a big blow to songyang, and the trios prepare for action.
chansoo and sayong take soseono back to gyeru and sayong asks yeontabal to fetch a medical man at once, as soseono suffered a big wound during the attack. the physician comes and says soseono has too many wounds to treat. next, sayong tells yeontabal, yeonchaeryeong and yangtak that jumong has agreed to help them and asked them not to do anything until the damul army arrives in gyeru, thus yeontabal tells sayong to get their army ready for jumong's order. meanwhile, in buyeo palace, mawuryeong returns from her trip to shijo mountain upon meeting bigeumseon oracle, and geumwa asks if there's a cure for his ailment, and mawuryeong shows him the sacred water given to her by bigeumseon, and tells geumwa they should do a holy shrine w/ the sacred water to see if that will cure his facial mark. thus, a shrine is held, and mawuryeong wipes the holy water on king geumwa, and suddenly mawuryeong cries out and says geumwa's mark has disappeared. geumwa then talks to mawuryeong afterwards, and she tells him according to bigeumseon, the owner of damul bow has taken the bow away, and geumwa asks who that is, and mawuryeong says he knows that person well too.
the steel army of han nation are headed toward gyeru, while mopalmo leads a group of damul army in the outskirts of gyeru to bury their explosives in the grounds. jumong and the damul await for han's soilders to pass by, and when ohyi runs to jumong to tell him the soilders are near, jumong orders his men to wait for the soilders to come into their trap, and prepare for attack then. when the steel army pass through jumong's trap, jumong and his men begin shooting their fired arrows toward the ground where the explosives are buried, and while the enemy is in disarray jumong and his men follow their attack by shooting arrows at them and slashing their swords at them. when the han army tries to retract, jumong goes before them w/ his bow and arrow and shoots them down one by one.
songyang is about to depart biryu w/ his men, when a genenral runs in and tells him the han army that went first were eliminated by jumong and the damul army, and at this songyang is appalled. meanwhile, jumong and the damul army arrive in gyeru, and are welcomed by shouts of hooray from gyeru ppl. yeontabal tells jumong gyeru has been saved by damul army. jumong says from now on damul army and gyeru are one body. jumong then asks about chief soseono, and is told that she has yet to regain consciouness. jumong appeared worried, and sayong leads him to see her by the bedside. sayong tells the sleeping soseono that damul army got rid of the arriving han army, and now that jumong is here she should open her eyes. in hyeonto fort, yang jeong is furious and asks songyang what he was doing while jumong was killing the han soilders, and songyang apologizes, but yangjeong tells him to stop w/ the excuse and asks how he can be responsible for the 2000 han soilders they lost. songyang asks for another chance for redemption, but yangjeong says the han nation has already sacrified too much and if songyang won't pay for their loss then they will attack biryu next.
daeso and the buyeo army arrive by the foot of bongae mountain, and naro reports to daeso only the elderly and youngin are left in bongae, and that even the migrants are gone. daeso says this means jumong must have moved the migrants and daeso is angry. naro asks daeso for direction on what to do next, and daeso says they should go and kill the eldery and the children and set the damul base on fire. bubunno is dismayed and says they are only elderly and children left, but daeso says the children will grow up to be damul soilders one day thus they need to be eliminated too. bubunno tries to talk daeso out of such cruel deed, but naro tells him to be quiet and just follow order instead. thus, while the remaining few damul soilders prepare to move the elders and children, the buyeo army arrives and begins slaughtering all the remaining damul people. bubunno watches in disgust as daeso and his soilders violently slash and behead the helpless childen, the elderly and the women... in a blind rage.
geumwa is resting in his palace, and remembers what mawuryeong told him about the owner of damul bow, and geumwa feels restless, thus he calls for songju and orders him to go and find the remaining records of old joseon that they have in buyeo, and upon hearing about this, majin runs to yeongpo and tells him the king is looking for the records that yeongpo has touched. yeongpo wonders why he is suddenly looking for these dusty records that were sitting there for decades, and majin says he doesn't know, and yeongpo tells majin to go and find master cheon right away since he has the records now, but majin finds out master cheon has already left buyeo. yeonpgo then goes to tell the guardian of the palace library not to say anything about yeongpo touching them. next, songju brings the guardian to geumwa and tells him the records cannot be found. geumwa says he once saw the records himself many decades ago and the guardian says he's only been a guardian for a little over a decade thus he does not know about the records. geumwa then asks if jumong may have looked at the records, and the guardian reports jumong read everything when he was in buyeo. next, daeso returns to buyeo and reports to geumwa jumong moved his base, and geumwa wonders where to, while daeso responses he has yet to find that out. budeukbul comes in next, and tells geumwa jumong and the damul army have joined together w/ gyeru to be one force against han nation. geumwa tells budeukbul to prepare court session at once. in court, budeukbul tells the king jumong is already strong w/ his development of steel weapon, but now that he has access to gyeru's goods, the damul group has become a force to fear. . daeso agrees and says at this rate, jumong will set a new nation on jolbon land, and yeongpo wonders if this will be a big threat to buyeo. daeso urges geumwa to take care of jumong before he can accomplish his plans, and says they should help songyang attack gyeru. however, the ministers are concerned that buyeo is not in the position to help anyone w/ their army, and geumwa tells heukchi to go and find out everything there is to know about jumong and gyeru at once.
lady yoohwa and yesoya are notified about jumong leaving bongae to join gyeru, and yoohwa says gyeru's soseono is a resourceful chief who will surely help jumong help set his nation, and yesoya asks when they will leave buyeo, while yoohwa says to wait just a little longer. yesoya goes outside and her maid tells her she is worried about jumong going to gyeru, since jumong and soseono were of special relationship, and now that soseono's husband has died not long ago it is unsure what this all means. yesoya asks if she is concerned that jumong would forget about soya, and soya says not to worry since jumong is always alive inside her heart, however yesoya appears troubled and sadden.. in gyeru, soryeong asks jumong if he is satisfied w/ his new environment and jumong says there are many things he has yet to accomplish. the starchild asks jumong if he will go to war w/ biryu and jumong says if it's necessary then he will. starchild says biryu is another tribe that jumong must embrace, and soryeong says it is better to unite w/ them w/out blood, and jumong asks if there is a way to do so, and soryeong says surely there is. however, just then jaesa runs in to tell him the wounded general from bongae mountain has arrived. the general says when they were about to leave bongae mountain w/ the last group of ppl, daeso arrived and killed them all. mari says the last group must be only elderly and children and asks if daeso really killed them all, and the general says the chilren begged for their life but they were all slashed to death. the trios are teary and furious and asks jumong to send them to buyeo to kill daeso. jumong tries to stay calm and tells his subject to take the wounded general inside for treatment. jumong then tells the emotional trios that they must focus on setting their new nation and they must control their fury at this time. just then, chansoo arrives and tells jumong soseono has awaken.
soseono asks yeontabal what happened, and yeontabal tells her there's nothing for her to worry as everything she wanted is done, and that jumong got rid of the han soilders, and all there's left is to put songyang to his knees thus she should regain her strength soon. jumong comes in w/ sayong and soseono struggles to sit up. jumong tells her to lay down, and soseono says she doesn't know how they can repay his help, and jumong says no such thing, and urges her to recover soon since there are many things he has yet to accomplish w/ her. next, master cheon arrives from his trip to buyeo, and shows jumong the records he got out of buyeo palace. jumong takes a look and tells master cheon that from now on the history of old joseon will be continued by the damul group, and jumong thanks master cheon. the two talk together alone next, and jumong asks if cheon delievered the letter to yoohwa, and cheon replies yes. jumong asks how they are doing and cheon replies yoohwa and yesoya are fine and they are guarded by bodyguards.
meanwhile, in jolbon, songyang tells the chieves of other jolbon tribes that they will not be able to rely on hyeonto and yangjeong's help in the future, and songyang asks the chieves of other jolbon nations to give up more goods. the chieves complain they already struggled to come up w/ the offerings last time, but songyang raises his voice and says they will get their goods back after attacking gyeru, and warns them if they don't give the goods he asked then they will be killed off first, before they even attack gyeru.
in buyeo palace, the queen tells jaeboo minister he has raised his daughter well, and jaeboo minister says she is still young and has many things to learn. daeso comes next, and the queen introduces him to jaeboo minister's daughter. the daugher speaks up and says her name is ga-hee. daeso is caught off guard, and the queen tells him to agree to take ga-hee in as his concubine at once since the future of buyeo depends on him, and daeso says okay, but to wait til buyeo escapes from their crisis before doing a wedding. next, seolran tells daeso she heard about him meeting jaeboo minister's daugher and daeso is speechless. seolran says not to worry about her, and daeso apologizes and says he was unable to reject the queen's desire to continue their blood line and seolran says nothing. later, haochen asks seolran if she's alright, and seolran says she has no choice since she has been barren, and vows to return all the hatred in her heart that buyeo has given her once she becomes queen. king geumwa meets w/ his subjects again and tells everyone before damul ruins buyeo, they will attack jumong and damul first. budeukbul congrats geumwa on the rightful decision, and jaeboo minister asks what the strategy is, and geumwa says songyang is currently in crisis, thus they will put new demand on jolbon. daeso says that is a great idea, and geumwa orders heukchi to prepare 2000 soilders. daeso asks to head the mission, and geumwa approves.
in gyeru, jumong looks over the old joseon records at night, when soseono arrives to see him. jumong asks her if it's alright for her to be moving around and soseono says it's fine. soseono then asks what all the bamboo scrolls were and jumong says they are records from old joseon. soseono says as she knows it they were all lost and asks him where he found all this. jumong brings out the map of old joseon's wide empire spread, and soseono says she had heard that old joseon was large but she didn't realize just how big.
jumong says damul and gyeru will reclaim this large territory and that is the reason why he came to gyeru.
in buyeo palace, yesoya and her maid bring food and wine to the guards outside yoohwa's chamber to comfort them, and the guard thanks her and says but wine is prohibited in buyeo, while yesoya says they can skip the wine if they don't feel comfortable w/ it. next, yoohwa's maid comes in to tell her the guards have passed out and yoohwa hurries out w/ her maid and her bundle. she goes and meets up w/ yesoya who is waiting w/ yuri, and yoohwa says to hurry and escape from the palace. they hurry and escape from the palace, bribing the palace gate guards as they leave. once they are outside they change their clothing, but songju arrives by yoohwa' chamber and finds yoohwa's scroll. songju brings it to geumwa and tells geumwa both yoohwa and yesoya are missing and they must have fled. geumwa opens the letter and reads yoohwa's letter asking for his forgiveness. yoohwa writes she has tried to repay the debt she owes him, but the moment he set yesoya and yuri as his hostage their destiny was ended. lastly yoohwa asks for forgiveness and upon reading this geumwa is furious and orders songju to block all their outlets to gyeru to catch the women and yuri. thus, on this dark night, yoohwa, yesoya, yuri and the maid flee on foot as they are chased by naro and the army men on horse..
