ep. 28:

jumong tells his mom he will persuade the king to agree to jumong's plan to attack jinbeon and imdun in order to save gojoseon remnants there. lady yoohwa says it will be hard for the king to agree to such since it will be met with strong oppositions from the king's advisors and generals, but jumong says the king feels guilty toward the remnants. the trio update jumong on yeongpo and daeso's activities. jumong tells the trio yeongpo has extended his hand to jumong to join forces against daeso and jumong says if it will accomplish his goal he will join hands with the enemy. mopalmo brings the newly made sword from gyeru factory to show yeontabal. yeontabal asks how it compares to daeso's and jumong replies it is slightly stronger. soseono asks how he made it and mopalmo says he used yellow earth and vows to make swords stronger than those of han's in no time. yeontabal asks jumong if he's told this to the king and jumong says he will wait til mopalmo develops stronger swords than those of han before he tells it to the king.

afterwards soseono and jumong are alone and she asks him about the planned attack and jumong replies thx to those documents from her about imdun and jinbeon he was able to persuade the king and he believes the king will agree. soseono smiles and comments jumong has changed so much even his gaze is different. jumong smiles in return and soseono then tells jumong those blacksmiths daeso brought to buyeo saying they were refugees may turn out to be yangjeong's men afterall, and that daeso has made a deal with yangjeong to marry his daughter in return for help with weapon development. soseono warns jumong to be careful of those blacksmiths daeso brought in since they may not be blacksmiths, implying they may be spies afterall. meanwhile yeontabal's impressed by the newly made sword from gyeru factory, when soseono comes to him and tells him jumong is planning to go to war with imdun and jinbeon awaiting geumwa's approval. soseono asks yeontabal to allow her to take a merchant army group to serve as material unit in the war against inbun and jinbeom. yeontabal warns her that fight may end up being a fight between buyeo and han instead in the long run, and sayong also warns soseono their group must maintain good relations with both buyeo and han. but soseono is determined and tells her father he always taught her in danger is where one can make an impression, and tells sayong it's time their group chooses which nation they will side with instead of trying to waver between han and buyeo.

jumong goes to meet the newly arrived blacksmiths and asks them if the newest additions are also refugees and they reply yes. next jumong warns the trio the blacksmiths may be spies thus they need to keep a close eye on them. the queen meets with daeso and mawuryeong oracle and the queen tells daeso they will crown daeso with help from sachuldo and the oracles. daeso asks if they really need to be so extreme and the queen says yes since in all the years they have honored the king all they have received in return is his dismissal and shame. yeongpo arrives outside the queen's corridor and when he finds out the queen is in a private meeting with daeso and maruryeong he is upset.

lady yoohwa meets with the king and tells the king going to war with imdun and jinbeon will not only save gojoseon refugees, it will also show the queen and her allies that he is in charge. the king tells jumong to investigate more and jumong comes back to report that the sachuldo sectors have already declared they will not allow gojoseon remnants in their regions, and that the queen and her subjects have been plotting to undermind the king's powers. jumong meets with yeongpo and persuades yeongpo to beat daeso by making an impression in a war. next jumong meets with all the bodyguards and tells them if they should go to war they will have to fight against steel armored warriors, thus they will begin training to fight against steel warriors. jumong trains his men to defeat steel warriors in 2 ways, with bow and arrow, or force them off their horse and slash their necks.

in hyeonto yangjeong sends his man to visit buyeo and yangjeong's daughter seol-ran goes with him. daeso is notified of her visit and wonders why seolran is doing in buyeo. mari reports the news of yangjeong's daughter arriving in buyeo to jumong and jumong remembers soseono telling him about daeso and yangjeong's deal. jumong watches as daeso greets the arriving seolran. seolran brings a message to king geumwa and reports han nation will deal salt with buyeo again. the king asks why the change of mind and seolran responds it is all due to prince daeso's persuasion. the somewhat hostile king geumwa then asks seolran why she's all the way here to deliver the news and seolran says her father is king geumwa's acquaintance from youth days and he wishes to go back to those good terms. the king says the one who's put a rift between them is yangjeong not him. daeso escorts seolran to her guest corridor and daeso apologizes to seolran he has yet to discuss their marriage with the king, but seolran says the reason she's here is to make it easier for him to bring up the topic to the king. as they walk by yeontabal and soseono pass by and a startled daeso greets them in awkwardness. afterwards daeso asks to speak th soseono in private. daeso asks soseono if she has not changed her mind about his proposal and soseono replies no. daeso asks if she's confident she will not regret, saying if she chooses him even now, he will help her group set their nation and develop their weapons. soseono tells daeso a strange rumor has been floating around out and around hyeonto that daeso will soon marry yangjeong's daughter seolran. soseono asks if that's a funny rumor and daeso says not to pay attention to such rumor, but soseono says just now when she saw him and seolran together they seem a great match and soseono wishes them well and afterwards soseono leaves, leaving daeso lost for words.

at night the trio spy on the activities in the iron factory and report to jumong like jumong expected the blacksmiths are indeed spies. jumong says to continue watching them. next morning the king announces in court he will attack jinbeom and imdun to save gojoseon remnants. the king's brother and daeso advise against it saying it will detriment their relationship with han and even if the went to war with them it is not a guaranteed win. budeukbul asks the king why he's attacking jinbeom and imdun, and the king asks jumong to step out to explain to everyone why they're going to war with imdun and jinbeom, and jumong says this is the best time since han is at war with seonam and daeso has already developed steel weapons for buyeo and this is the time for buyeo to remember the legacy of haemosu and the damul warriors who saved numerous refugees without any strong weapons. yeongpo speaks up in support of the war too and the king tells his head general to get the armies ready.

the queen finds out about the war and says the king has lost it and jumong is to blame. daeso confides in the queen he made a deal with yangjeong to marry his daugher in return for weapon development assistance. the queen comforts daeso saying he has sacrificed so much for buyeo even to agree to marry a woman whom he doesn't love. daeso says she must stop the attack on jinbeom and imdun or else his sacrifices will be in vain. the spies in the weapon factory relate the news of planned attack to yangjeong in hyeonto and yangjeong is angered but just then another message from daeso arrives saying not to worry cuz he will stop geumwa from carrying through w/ the attacks.

meanwhile soryeong and the star child visit yeomieul in gyeru and the star child tells yeomieul jumong is blocking buyeo's splendor and he must leave buyeo or else he will die. yeomieul tells the star child from now on the one they will serve is not buyeo but the 3-legged bird blocking buyeo. yeontabal and soseono arrive in gyeru as well and see that wootae is recovering well. yeontabal tells yeomieul about geumwa planning to attack jinbeom and imdun to save gojoseon remnants. yeomieul is surprised and next yeontabal asks her if she thinks it is appropriate for their merchant group should join in on the war as well as material unit. geumwa tells his head general to round up 20,000 army men from sachuldo and budeukbul is still worried about the steel army and jumong responds he has been training the guards on how to beat the steel army men and he will show everyone the results. jumong gets his guards to show the king, the advisors, yeongpo and daeso how they can successfully beat the steel warriors and everyone's surprised, with geumwa nodding in smile.

the sachuldo oracles tell mawuryeong about soryeong and star child's disappearance and mawuryeong wonders what the queen will do when she finds out. just then the queen comes and urges mawuryeong to do something to stop the war. mawuryeong goes to see the king and the king says he will not see her.
jumong tells mawuryeong no one can stop the king from going to attack and tells the oracles to leave. next, mari tells jumong sachuldo's maga administrator has come to meet with the queen. the administrator tells the queen he will stop the king and then tells daeso he will make him the crown prince.

soseono visits jumong in the palace and says since he's not leaving the palace at all she's come to visit him instead. jumong apologizes for being so busy and soseono laughs saying she was just teasing. soseono then tells jumong she will join in on the war as material unit and jumong says he cannot send her to war front and soseono says it's not like she's actually going to fight in the war, she will just be there to set up support reserve. soseono says she's not going to the war just to help him, but she's going for herself too since she cannot sit and wait around while jumong is in battle. jumong is touched and hugs soseono tightly, just as daeso walks by and witness the two embrace...

the king's messenger goes to sachuldo and tells the elders the king has ordered them to send 20,000 army men for battle and the sachuldo leader says they will decline. the messenger asks if they intend to decline the king's order and the elder responds saying they do not wish to go to war at all and the king is going against the heaven's order. next the sachuldo elder kills the messenger and sends his head back to geumwa to show him the sachuldo sectors will not send even one army man to fight againt imdun and jinbeom...

jumong ep. 29:
geumwa is furious and says beheading his messenger is the same as putting a knife at his throat and orders his head general to prepare army to behead the sachuldo administers. both budeukbul and the queen's brother urge the king to calm down but the king asks budeukbul if he would be calm in his shoe and mockingly asks the queen's brother isn't this what he wanted. the rest of the advisors and ministers all urge the king to retract the order... the queen is happy about what's happening and tells daeso buyeo will not be able to go to war w/out sachuldo army. yeongpo asks jumong if this means their attack planned for imdun and jinbeom are impossible and just then daeso arrives and says of course that's what it means. daeso asks jumong if he plans to persuade the king again and next asks to speak to yeongpo in private. daeso scoffs yeongpo for supporting the war in court earlier but yeongpo states he has his own plans too but when daeso asks what yeongpo has nothing to say. daeso asks isn't it his plan to contribute through the war and beat him in the crown prince competition, and when yeongpo says nothing daeso orders him to leave.

jumong goes to see lady yoohwa who tells him no matter what happens, jumong must help the king, because the matter at hand is not whether or not buyeo will go war, but who will lose everything at the end. in buyeo's factory, the spies receive a message from yangjeong and one of them reads it then burns the scroll. next sayong discusses the discord between sachuldo and geumwa with soseono and sayong states buyeo could be ruined through internal dispute without han's involvement. soseono asks how the matter will be resolved, and sayong says geumwa and jumong will have to back down and soseono will have to forget about going to war as well. soseono wonders if she can help but sayong says she shouldn't get involved because of her emotions. in the palace, jumong goes to see king geumwa at his summon and the king asks jumong what he thinks is a solution to this trouble at hand, and jumong replies he will support geumwa no matter what in whatever decision he makes, since yoohwa told him if he doesn't support the king the king could lose everything. the king states he will have to think over the matter more carefully, and jumong says it is important for the king to make a decision soon. next jumong goes around town with ohyi and hyeopbo, and they run into gojoseon remnants whom they helped before. the remnants tell jumong they heard about buyeo going to war with imdun and jinboem and they want to go to war too to save other remnants. among the three men, one of them is a young man who has lost both his parents and now he wants to join in on the war. just then mari comes to tell jumong there are many men outside palace gate. jumong goes and sees that there are many men asking to see the king outside the palace doors. jumong goes inside the palace and tells the king he should come out to the palace gate since there are remnants of damul warriors waiting to serve him. king geumwa goes out and sees many men kneeling before him. the older men say they were there with geumwa and haemosu when they attacked hyeonto and the younger men say they are remnants of gojoseon, and all the men say they will join in to help save refugees in imdun and jinbeom. the king is touched and apologizes to the many men for forsaking them all these years but the men say it's not too late and begs geumwa to allow them to save gojoseon ppl.

geumwa calls a meeting among all the advisors and generals, as well as the oracle mawuryeong. the king tells everyone even though the sachuldo sectors have refused to honor his order of sending troops, he will still go to war with his own army. budeukbul says he cannot go to war without the army from sachuldo and asks him to retract his decision. the king says he is confident they will win and next he asks mawuryeong what is her position and mawuryeong states she will set a shrine and asks the heavens to assist geumwa. the king is satisfied and says he will attend the ceremony himself. the queen is shocked that the king will go to war without sachuldo's support and tells her sons she will go see sachuldo's maga sector herself. yeongpo is drinking at dochi's and expresses his confusion which side he should be with. dochi's man hantan urges yeongpo to play a game of gamble when he can't make up his mind. yeontabal tells soseono he cannot approve of her going to war as material unit now that the chance of buyeo winning seems unsure. sayong states he agrees with yeontabal's assessment.

meanwhile jumong watches as the palace guards are killed by masked attackers . jumong runs to the king's corridor and tells him he needs to leave since there are attackers. jumong escorts the king out but the attackers arrive and jumong begins fighting them. geumwa's bodyguard urges geumwa to hide but geumwa joins in and helps jumong kill off the attackers. afterwards geumwa tells jumong to find out who the attackers were. just then daeso and yeongpo arrive and daeso scolds jumong for failing to protect the king well. geumwa tells daeso to leave and urges jumong to find out who the attackers are at once. jumong unmasks the dead and tells geumwa the attackers are blacksmiths from the iron factory. geumwa glances at daeso who is speechless... next jumong and the trio try to find the rest of the blacksmiths and discover they have fled. jumong says they must have gone toward hyeonto thus orders the trio to block all the roads leading to hyeonto. the queen finds out the attackers were the blacksmiths brought in by daeso and is frantic about what they should do.

next, daeso kneels before the king and tells the king he cannot believe what happened either. geumwa asks isn't it true that those men were not gojoseon remnants, rather spies sent by yangjeong, and daeso is speechless. the king asks daeso what is the reason daeso deceived him, and daeso states he only wanted to help buyeo develop strong weapons so that buyeo could be on par with han, but the king yells at him then tells all his subjects if they will continue to go against his decision to attack imdun and jinbeom after witnessing how the han is treating them and the subjects are speechless. next the king orders jumong to imprison daeso, and investigate the relationship between the blacksmiths, daeso and yangjeong and reveal his findings.

yeontabal's group discuss the matter of attack at palace, and yeontabal and sayong state the war with jinbeom and imdun seems unstoppable now, and the sachuldos will have to support the king now. soseono asks yeontabal if he will approve of her going to war now and yeontabal tells her to get ready to leave. next, soseono tells sayong she will ask wootae and gyepil to go with her. soseono asks sayong what he thinks will happen between daeso and geumwa, and sayong says things are turning better for jumong. soseono says she will be utmost help to jumong. back in gyeru, gyepil continues to take care of wootae in his recovery. gyepil asks wootae if by chance he likes soseono since wootae won't marry (gyepil = wootae's father) but wootae says all he wants is serve their merchant group. a message arrives to yeomieul from yeontabal. after yeonmieul reads the message, she tells soryeong geumwa was attacked and through it, jumong and geumwa have gotten closer. meanwhile in gyeru's weapon factory, mopalmo is mysteriously and secretively working his weapon development to create swords stronger than those of han's.

in buyeo, jumong interrogates daeso and asks him to reveal his relationship with yangjeong. daeso states he only brought the blacksmiths in and that's all. jumong then asks if it's true that daeso made a deal with yangjeong with daeso marrying yangjeong's daughter as a condition. daeso yells at jumong and says he would not make a deal that wouldn't be supported by the king. jumong says he is sure daeso made a deal with yangjeong and urges daeso to confess everythnig before the king and asks for forgiveness. the queen comes to visit daeso and jumong tells her the king's order states no one is to visit daeso. the queen is furious and slaps jumong, but jumong replies no one is to go in. the queen vows to get back at him and his mother and leaves in anger. next the queen goes to see the king and the king tells his subject to send her back. the queen insists her way in and tells the king daeso is innocent. the king says how dare she comes in and states daeso's innocence wil be revealed after the investigation. the queen reminds geumwa daeso is his blood and no son will try to kill his own father. the queen begs him to free daeso and the king tells her to leave. the queen states if he will not free daeso, then she will. the king yells at her and says he knows what she's been doing behind his back with the sachuldo sectors, and the one who put daeso in this situation is not him, but rather the queen. the king orders her to leave at once and the queen stares at him in hatred and tears. afterwards the queen goes out and tells her maid until the day she dies she will not forget the shame she received today. dochi and hantan tells yeongpo since jumong gave up on crown prince competition and daeso is in trouble, the crown prince title will go to yeongpo, but yeongpo says he cannot be laughing cuz his brother might die.

yangjeong hears news of daeso imprisoned, and orders his man to get army ready to send over to imdun and jinbeon. seolran comes and asks her father if he can avoid war with buyeo but yangjeong says no, but tells her daeso worked hard and he is a good man. the queen is in dismay and yoohwa comes to visit her. the queen says she will not see her but yoohwa is already in her room, and asks the queen to tell everyone else to leave since she wants to save daeso and wants to talk to the queen in private. the queen asks yoohwa how she can save daeso. yoohwa says at present the king could have daeso killed, and when the queen is upset yoohwa tells her to calm down and states the king could kill daeso just to prove his power over sachuldo, but yoohwa tells the queen she can save daeso if the queen will agree to let the sachuldo sectors support the king in the war against imdun and jinbeom. next, yoohwa tells jumong the queen will persuade sachuldo to send army in the war, and jumong is to tell the king daeso is innocent so daeso can be freed. jumong goes to daeso and tells daeso what he did was not only endangering himself he has also endangered his mother, but jumong says he will give daeso a chance, and tells daeso he will tell the king daeso is innocent if daeso will assist the king in the war against imdun and jinbeom. next, in court jumong tells king and all his subjects that daeso is innocent in the matter of attackers from hyeonto, and next jumong tells the king daeso has stated he wants to help in the war and asks the king to approve it. the king asks if daeso really said that and jumong replies daeso is waiting outside and asks the king to bring him in. daeso comes in and kneels before the king. next, daeso tells the king if the king will give him the opportunity, then he will serve the king in the war against imdun and jinbeom. the king replies he will give him that opportunity, and the king tells everyone in this war against imdun and jinbeom, the head of guard, jumong, will be the chief general, and daeso and yeongpo are to assist jumong.

jumong episode 30:
the king names jumong the chief general of their upcoming war with jinbeom and imdun and states yeongpo and daeso will assist jumong. daeso is set free and the queen welcomes him back, asking if he's been hurt, but daeso apologizes for his mistakes and the queen says daeso is innocent of any wrong-doing and vows to avenge their shame. jumong meets with the king who tells jumong they must win their war and jumong must find a way to win or else the king will lose this throne and jumong will be unable to protect lady yoohwa. the queen's brother urge queen and daeso to accept the situation and see it as opportunity to contribute but the queen objects when daeso interrupts and says this may be an oppurtunity for him to come out from his crisis. daeso meets with budeukbul who tells daeso to be patient or else he cannot achieve the throne and that a king is born out of difficult time. daeso thx him and says he will endure and endure more.

jumong tells his guards their enemy in the war will be steel warriors and they are to train day and night in preparation. yeongpo complains to dochi about having to be jumong's subordinate in the war and asks dochi if he's got any ideas for him but dochi says no, and after jumong leaves dochi tells his man that the war is an opportunity for their business. yeongpo returns to palace and asks daeso if they really have to subject themselves to this but daeso says they have no other choice unless yeongpo has a better idea. yeongpo asks daeso if they win the war the king will then name jumong the crown prince, and daeso says it's possible. yeongpo then says he wants to get rid of jumong and daeso scoffs him again and says if yeongpo does nothing it will be helpful to daeso. daeso takes yeongpo to the training ground where jumong's guards are undergoing intensive training and yeongpo complains but daeso tells jumong they will do whatever jumong orders them since he is their senior in the war. jumong tells them he is merely their leader in name and whatever they do they will contribute toward buyeo. afterwards a worried mari asks jumong if he will really allow daeso and yeongpo to be in the war and reminds jumong daeso is one who made deal with yangjeong and he could betray them in the war. jumong tells mari he has his own thinking and says not to worry.

meanwhile wootae returns to yeontabal's base in buyeo and soseono greets him and says he should've rested longer, but wootae says he is really fine and asks about the upcoming war. soseono tells wootae their group will be going to war as material unit too, and soseono thanks wootae saying without him she would've been dead, but wootae says he is the one who should thank her because he always waited for the chance to serve her and protect her. soseono is touched and looks at wootae surprisingly. yeontabal tells his close subordinates that since they've decided to get involved in the war they should do their best. sayong says for geumwa to name jumong as the leader in the war means a big change has occurred inside the palace. yeontabal comments due to yangjeong's spies disguised as blacksmiths, daeso has lost his chance for crown prince for now and jumong's chance is resurrected.

inside buyeo's palace the king and his subjects are suited in war attire and prepare themselves for the war, when yeontabal arrives with soseono and asks geumwa to allow their group to come to war with them. geumwa says the war is between buyeo and han, and if their group is to get involved it will put jolbon's relation with han in jeopardy, but yeontabal replies the king needn't worry and the king asks if he can entrust buyeo's army material needs in his hand. yeontabal says they've been prepared amply for the war and says the king needn't worry. the queen's brother is doubtful that yeontabal is sufficiently prepared in such a short notice, but soseono tells everyone she's heard about the war through prince jumong for a long time and thus has been preparing for it for a long time. the king is satisfied, and next he goes to the weapon factory and finds out they have not been able to create more superior swords since the hyeonto blacksmiths have left and they never revealed their secret to them. just then jumong reports mopalmo has successfully developed the secret formula in gyeru and the king is once again confident in the news and orders his men to have mopalmo return and work on creating more swords as soon as possible. the king sees the young damul warrior desendant cheondong who is only 16, and the king says he is too young to fight in the battle and assigns him different duty.

buyeo palace prepares itself for war and even lady yoohwa helps day and night getting her hands blistered. jumong checks on her and asks her not to work so hard but yoohwa says no and that it was like this during the days of damul warriors and all her pain was soothed when haemosu held her hands and by working to help is what makes her feel comfortable and hopeful. jumong holds his mother's hands and comforts her.
soseono runs into daeso at the palace and daeso asks soseono what she's doing here. soseono replies she is here to see jumong to go over supplies needed in the war. daeso says it's hard for him to see her and tells her to get by. afterwards daeso remembers the way soseono and jumong embraced with their tender words for each other and the thought angers daeso.

soseono asks jumong how the preparation is going and jumong replies they are still short on skilled warriors. wootae asks if he's heard of baeksan nomadic villagers who train on horse since infancy. daeso sends message to yangjeong about the happening with jumong being named the chief general. in hyeonto, song yang from jolbon comes to tell yangjeong yeontabal who is from jolbon is assisting buyeo's war with supplies, but that song yang will help yangjeong since he doesn't want to ruin jolbon and han's relations. yangjeong asks what he can help with and song yang says he will help whatever including sending army for han's use.

back in buyeo, mawuryeong brings in the fake fortune man from town to have him killed for spreading false rumors and the queen arrives and tells her to spare the man. the queen plans to use the man to stir up opposition from the citizens toward the war, and even though that will not stop the war it will put geumwa as the target of all responsibilities if they should not win. mopalmo and musong return to buyeo and are greeted warmly by the king.

meanwhile yang tak arrives from gyeru and is greeted by yang chaeryeong. yang tak reports to yeontabal and soseono about song yang's visit to hyeonto. just then jumong arrives looking for soseono, and tells her he will go recruit the people of baekseong village to fight in the war. soseono says it will not be easy since these ppl are nomads, and offers to go with jumong. it is nighttime and soseono and jumong sit by the fire. soseono asks jumong if he won't tell her why he left buyeo back then, and jumong smiles at her only. soseono says she has been revealing all herself to him like a fool and perhaps she should stop doing that in the future. jumong smiles and tells her there is a person who changed his life, and soseono asks if he means haemosu. jumong continues and says if he hadn't met him he would still be living like a naiive person but after meeting that person and losing him he realized his purpose for life. soseono states that person is indeed a great teacher for jumong, and jumong replies before that person was his teacher he was first his father. soseono is shocked but says nothing to let him finish. jumong gets emotional and tells soseono he never got a chance to call him father before he died, and with that regret he was deeply troubled. jumong goes on to say now he will help his father realize his dream, and thus he will find what was lost to the gojoseon people. soseono smiles and next to the fire, wootae is listening.

jumong arrives in baeksan village and introduces himself and the villager asks why in the world would they get involved in buyeo's war, and jumong replies he will give them new land after the war, but the villager says the whole world is theirs and tells jumong to return. jumong comes out and tells soseono and wootae about his failure. soseono asks if jumong offered them land and was rejected by it. jumong asks what else would these ppl want besides land, and soseono says he will give it a try and goes in. wootae says nomads don't need land but the way to persuade them is to offer them money. soseono returns with the villager and announces baeksan group will send horses and men to buyeo. jumong shows his satisfaction with smile.

back in gyeru, yeomieul sets a shrine worship and tells her maid to prepare a silk cloth for her to paint a picture of three-legged bird encircled by a sun. soryeong asks why yeomieul is wishing for buyeo to win when buyeo has thrown her out, but yeomieul replies it is better than han winning, and this war is jumong's war and the owner of the three-legged bird is jumong. yeomieul sends a message to jumong with the painted silk and the message that the three-legged bird will protect jumong no matter where and yeomieul will serve the bird.

yangjeong's man dongsan from hyeonto arrives and gives daeso a message in which yangjeong tells daeso han will surely win this war, and since he cannot protect daeso in this war, daeso is to make sure he does what he must to ensure crown prince title. jumong strategizes about the war with sayong and sayong says based on news and findings, han is planning to send 200 thousand warriors to jinboem and imdun, and they will surely take the quick route which passes through the small samin nation. thus jumong and sayong agree they will stop the han troops at samin. naru reports to daeso about jumong's plan and daeso tells naru he needs to go on a trip to hyeonto. naru asks if he means daeso wants him to relate the news to hyeonto, and naru kneels before daeso and asks to be killed instead for he is also a servant of buyeo and he cannot betray his country. daeso says he will not do something to ruin buyeo and tells naru to trust him and sends naru to hyeonto.

buyeo palace is setting out to fight and jumong with the armies leave buyeo headed for war...

jumong ep. 31:
naru arrives in hyeonto with news from daeso to yangjeong and yangjeong tells his generals jumong's army has left buyeo headed for the small nation of sam-il to stop army from hyeonto. yangjeong tells his advisor he wants to meet jumong and sam-il nation will be where jumong shall be buried. naru also relates to message to yang seolran asking her to understand him and that his feeling toward her will not change throughout the war.

jumong is heading his group of warriors toward ap-pu-ryeong as planned, but jumong stops them and tells his group their plan to go toward appuryeong is likely exposed to yangjeong through daeso already, thus they will take a different route. daeso is about to go out with a different group of army and king geumwa watches as daeso personally trains his group. afterwards daeso reports to the king and geumwa tells him until jumong returns daeso must take up jumong's responsibility and daeso replies yes. yeongpo goes after daeso and asks if he will really assist jumong and daeso replies yes. next, dochi asks to see yeongpo outside the palace, and dochi promises to create a great contribution for yeongpo, if yeongpo will help him. dochi explains due to the war a big inflation has occured on goods in buyeo, and dochi wants yeongpo to allow dochi to import goods from haengin nation so he can make handsome money. naru returns and tells daeso yangjeong has sent troops toward appuryeong, and will be sending steel warriors toward sam-il nation. naru also reports seolran has also received and accepted daeso's message.

next daeso comes to see soseono in yeontabal's base. soseono greets daeso and asks what brings him here. daeso says he is sitting in for jumong in his absense and came to examine the supplies needed for material unit. daeso then asks soseono how long does she think he will wait for her, and tells her after the war he believes she will want him, and if she still rejects him then he is not sure what he might do either. soseono listens to his warning and when sayong comes to ask soseono replies daeso is blackmailing her. soseono says at one point she had good feeling toward daeso but that is all gone now. sayong comments by choosing to help jumong she has chose a great risk, and sayong advises her not to belittle daeso just because they have chosen buyeo.

jumong and his warriors are waiting for the arrival of yangjeong's warriors, and the trio check on the young gojoseon boy, cheondong, whom they brought with them. jumong tells the boy he has not brought him here to fight in war, but to witness personally what battle feels like so he can always remember what his parents went through. yangjeong's warriors arrive and jumong's group ambushes them with firely arrows, followed by sword slashings. cheondong at first watches the battle but joins in and slashes enemy while jumong keeps an eye on him. mopalmo tells musong he will fight in the war too and musong says if he insists he will go too. just then lady yoohwa summons musong to bring in the fortune man who is spreading rumors in town causing unsettlement among people. musong brings in the man who tells everyone that buyeo is going against the gods for fighting. yoohwa demands the man to confess who is the one behind him for his rumor spreading. the man says he is merely following the god's order. yoohwa says he will be killed so he can stop the crime, and the man finally confesses it was the queen who told him to do this. yoohwa tells her maid museok to bring the queen and the oracle mawuryeong and both arrive with their entourage of maids. yoohwa brings the fake fortuneman and confronts the two this was their doing. mawuryeong denies and the queen demands what yoohwa is doing. yoohwa says the king is already upset over sachuldo's division with him, and asks how will he react to news of this crime. yoohwa warns the two to be one with the nation since it's at war or else.

soseono leads the group of material unit toward jinbeom and imdun when they are ambushed by an unknown army. sayong gets deeply wounded and soseono puts sayong on a horse and orders him to flee immediately. the army kill off many of soseono's men and gyepil has a knife at his throat. soseono has no choice but put down her sword to surrender, and orders wootae the same. a deeply wounded sayong rides off on the horse. meanwhile the army men turn out to be led by song yang of jolbon's biryu, who tells soseono he has vowed to her before that he would never forget the shame she brought him. soseono clearly states she is not here as a gyeru person, rather as material unit for buyeo. sayong returns to yeontabal nearly unconscious and tells yeontabal soseono has been captured by biryu's general song yang. sayong faints and a message from song yang arrives telling yeontabal to give up his position of head of gyeru in return for soseono's life.

daeso reports to geumwa their group is ready to leave and asks for departure approval. geumwa replies the order will come from jumong the chief of war. yeontabal arrives in court and reports to the king their material unit has been attacked. the queen's brother comments they should not have entrusted such responsibility in yeontabal in the first place. other generals and advisors are all upset and says they cannot have jumong lead the war like this and the army men would be deeply wavered if they find out their material unit has been rid of. the queen's brother urges the king to call jumong back and reconsider their war plan. afterwards yeontabal tells daeso song yang has joined hands with yangjeong and the attack of soseono's group must have been directed by yangjeong. next, daeso tells yeongpo and his uncle he will go save soseono for he cannot let the material unit remain unsaved. budeukbul urges the king to reconsider war strategy but the king replies he believes in jumong's leadership thus they will wait.

after successfully battling the enemy at ap-puryeong, the trio are leading a group of men, when they are met with another group of buyeo army who relates the news of soseono's capture. meanwhile jumong and his group of gojoseon remnant and baeksan nomad warriors are met by han's army and jumong's group successfully escapes. afterwards jumong tells his men where they are is where they will set up trap for steel warriors. back in buyeo daeso gets a group ready and tells naru to lead the group to bonjin to save soseono, since daeso can't leave. naru's group is headed out when he is stopped by the queen's brother who brings naru to the queen. the queen tells naru not to save soseono. naru complains it was daeso's order, but yeongpo orders naru to hush and follow the queen's order. the queen tells naru what she is doing is for daeso's benefit and there will not be harm on naru thus he is to follow her order.

meanwhile a captured and bounded soseono, wootae, and gyepil wonder about sayong's whereabouts when gyepil says this is all because they shouldn't have gotten involved. wootae urges his father to stop saying such but soseono says gyepil is right this is all because of her naive behavior which will only bring harm to jumong. the king's messenger army returns with news of jumong's success and the king wants to leave for battle. daeso asks the king to wait since he has sent a group to save the material unit, and budeukbul is surprised to hear this while the king agrees with daeso.

jumong and his group ambush the oncoming steel warriors of hyeonto, but the steel warriors are strong and great in number, thus jumong's group is losing but the trio and their group arrive to assist in the battle. jumong's group is winning and the remaining steel warriors flee. the trio report to jumong the material unit was attacked and soseono has been captured alive. yeontabal goes to gyeru and tells yeomieul soseono has been captured by biryu's general song yang and he is here to save her. yeomieul states if yeontabal has movement it will endanger soseono's life, thus he should do whatever song yang wants. yeontabal replies the one song yang wants is undoubtedly yeontabal's life and in order to save soseono he is prepared to die thus he will go to song yang. yeomieul offers to meet with song yang instead, saying song yang would not dare to harm her for she is an oracle. yeontabal is grateful and yeomieul says since he's helped her she is now helping him.

after troubled thinking, jumong decides to go toward song yang. meanwhile song yang who has not heard from yeontabal tells his man to prepare for travel to hyeonto. song yang goes to soseono and states her father seems to want her dead for not responding to him. soseono replies her father is someone who can forsake himself if needed, and warns song yang her father could be sending an army toward biryu this very moment, and if she dies song yang will die too. song yang mocks her arrogance and tells her if he doesn't hear from yeontabal by morning she is dead. after song yang leaves gyepil tells her she should beg for her life but soseono remains firm.

it is nighttime and jumong and his group have found song yang's camp. they begin attacking the guards and the two groups begin fighting.

Jumong ep. 32
gyepil wonders if they're really gonna die like this and asks soseono and wootae if they should beg for life....
wootae replies song yang is determined to kill soseono, and gyepil is hopeless and reminds soseono yeontabal is not one who would come thus she should think of some way to save them. song yang is about to have soseono dragged before him when yeomieul arrives. song yang asks yeomieul if she's being sent by yeontabal and yeomieul replies she came on her own. song yang tells her to leave at once but yeomieul replies in her eyes she is seeing song yang's fate and asks if he's curious to find out what. next, yeomieul is in song yang's tent and she tells him to let soseono go saying for his country biryu, he must return to good relations with gyeru, especially since gyeru has developed strong weapons recently. yeomieul continues and tells him in the current war, buyeo will win, but song yang says he will not believe buyeo will win and mocks yeotabal who trusted in geumwa's foolish leadership. song yang sends yeomieul away and yeomieul tells her maids they have no choice but to leave soseono's life in the gods.

songyang tells his subordinate to bring soseono and her group before him. they are dragged before him and song yang tells soseono her father seems to have forsaken her, thus she should blame it on her father instead of him and asks if she has something to say, if so he will relate it to yeontabal. soseono asks what is there to say and tells song yang to kill her fast if he wants to kill her. gyepil begs but song yang orders his men to behead them right away. just as they are about to be beheaded, jumong and his troop arrive and fight off song yang's men. song yang flees, while soseono, after being freed, joins in on the fight. wootae tries to stop her but ends up joining in as well since soseono is already fighting. jumong finds soseono in the battle and goes to her as soseono is tearing up. the buyeo troop kills off song yang's men and jumong tells the trio to prepare for returning to buyeo. the trio leave, and jumong and soseono are alone. jumong asks the crying soseono if she's hurt. soseono gestures she's not hurt, and tells jumong she has been nothing but a burden to him in the war. jumong tells her not to say such thing and he felt assured when she left with the material unit, and it is his fault for not equipping her group with proper army force, thus she should not blame herself. wootae appears and tells soseono their supplies have been taken away by song yang.

back in buyeo daeso hears news that the material unit leads have returned to buyeo. daeso thinks naru saved soseono and goes out to courtyard happily, but when he sees jumong with soseono's group daeso is shocked. jumong reports to king geumwa his group has defeated han's at nangnang and brought back the material unit that was kidnapped by song yang. soseono apologizes to the king for their failure and the king tells her to hurry and reensemble the group and tells everyone buyeo is attacking imdun and jimbeon next.
daeso finds out from naru it was the queen who stopped him and daeso goes to the queen, who insists what she did was for daeso and that soseono who has already joined hands with jumong will only bring daeso ruin.

soseono returns to home and yeontabal tells her he could not have done anything for her in the situation, and soseono says if he came forward song yang would not have budged. yeontabal apologizes for putting such a big burden on her when he shouldn't have and it was wrong of him to raise her like a man. yeontabal goes on telling soseono he can't let her go in the war again after getting her back like this, but soseono says she is confident and asks him to trust her. yeontabal is troubled but agrees, and warns her to be more careful this time. sayong appears and smiles saying he was worried how he would live the rest of his days if she didn't return, and soseono breaks out smile too saying she was worried about not seeing him again too. soseono asks about sayong's wounds and sayong replies he's about recovered and they should think about how to get back at those who attacked them now. jumong goes to lady yoohwa who tells jumong the sachuldo sectors cannot be relied on, and tells jumong back in the day, haemosu never returned after going out to save the migrating remnants, and she spent too long waiting for him but he never returned, and yoohwa asks jumong not to make her wait and jumong replies yes. next jumong goes to the king and discusses about sachuldo and the king says not to worry about them because if they disobey him, they should know that they are the first to be ruined if han attacks buyeo.

daeso gives naru a message for hyeonto and tells naru to give the message to someone he trusts since he needs to prepare for war. naru goes out and gives the message to a guard who takes it to hyeonto, but he is stopped by the trio en route. the trio force the guard to give up the message and they bring the message to jumong. jumong reads daeso's message and goes to see daeso afterwards. daeso compliments jumong for his success saying he was surprised since jumong's troop was so small, but jumong replies his success is all because of daeso. daeso asks what he means and jumong shows him the message scroll saying it is daeso's message for yangjeong. daeso is caught off guard and tries to come up with excuse, but jumong tells him he can understand what daeso is feeling but there is no excuse for treachery and even though he will forgive him this once, if daeso does something like this again he will not be forgiven and next time he will be treated as a buyeo's trader instead of a prince.

yeongpo receives some money from dochi who promises to give yeongpo more when he earns more from his merchantry. just then jumong and the trio arrive and announce dochi was found to be dealing illegal importing and is being taken into custody. yeongpo tells jumong dochi did it with his permission thus jumong spares dochi's life but orders all his goods to be confisgated. jumong tells the trio to head to war first and before departure, hyeopbo comes to visit sayong who asks him if he's here to visit her, and hyeopbo says he heard she was very injured but she appears fine. sayong smiles and asks what hyeopbo came for and hyeopbo comments it's strange that she suddenly uses honorofic speech to him, and sayong replies since hyeopbo is promoted to guard supervisor it seems appropriate. hyeopbo then says in the battle sayong should fight like a man not like a woman, and sayong replies she wants to in her heart but her body doesn't listen to her. hyeopbo then shoves his sword at her and says she should use it in the war. sayong thanks him and stares at him when he runs off... (lol)

in hyeonto, yang jeong prepares to go to war too and tells seolran not to blame her destiny too much if her fate with daeso doesn't materialize. yangjeong meets with advisors and generals and yangjeong announces if the han imperial finds out about buyeo's success with steel development it will not be good for them, thus they should send steel army toward imdun and jimbeon to fight off the buyeo army. meanwhile, in buyeo, jumong goes over war strategy with the king and the princes, along with head generals and soseono (lol she looked so small in the army attire next to all the guys), when news of hyeonto steel army attack arrive. jumong with the buyeo army beat the small group of steel warriors.

in han's jin-yeong terroitory, yangjeong finds out about the steel army's failure, when yangjeong's man arrives with news that seolnam who is at war with han has declared defeat and han's army in the war is coming to their aid. sayong and soseono report the news to jumong as well and soseono urges jumong to go see the king right away. the king comments if han's yeodong army from seolnam war come join the han forces in jinbeom and imdun, it will be tough for buyeo to win. daeso urges the king to retieve their army to buyeo and budeukbul agrees, but geumwa states they cannot turn back this easily. the trio are worried about fighting off the han's after their numbers increase, and jumong says even if the yeodong army is coming they will not arrive in a day and they have to find a way to stop them all at once. jumong goes to the old damul warrior and the man tells jumong the damul called such thing he is making dynamite and jumong gets an idea and asks him if he knows how to make them. the man replies yes, and next day jumong orders everyone to gather ash. yeongpo and daeso wonder what jumong is up to next, and yeongpo asks if jumong is collecting ash to cover their urine but daeso appears puzzled and upset.

jumong shows soseono the explosive dynamite and says if they could make hundreds of them in little time they have a chance to win but is worried about shortage of time. soseono goes to sayong who says he has a solution, and tells her to bring jumong. sayong shows them a kite and those who are there are elated. jumong orders them not to tell anyone about it, and goes to tell the king the army will move tonight.

it is nighttime and jumong with a group of army hide by yangjeong's camp in jinyeong and jumong orders numerous kites to be raised above yangjeong's camp. king geumwa prepares the army for attack and next, jumong and his men shoot arrows with fire toward the kites igniting the dynamites attached to the kites above yangjeong's camp...

Jumong ep. 33
buyeo's war with yangjeong's army continues in han's jinyeong terriotory with both groups suffering severe loss in the gory battle, even the young cheondong is slashed to death by steel warrior. before he dies, the young boy asks jumong to avenge for him. soseono, sayong and wootae watch the battle from distance and soseono agrees with wootae's assessment that if the war doesn't finish by dusk it will be a very difficult war to defeat. jumong finds jinbeom's commander and beheads him. king geumwa is fighting in the battle himself and kills many enemies but he is shot by arrow and falls to his knees. geumwa's guard warrior comes to his rescue and geumwa orders him not to let the buyeo army know he is injured. the guard warrior escorts him away from the battle field as geumwa is losing consciousness...

yangjeong's man dongseon reports to him jinbeom's leader has been killed and they have to withdrawl. yangjeong and his army flee and yangjeong cites jumong's name with hatred. jumong leads his army to shout out their victory and call out geumwa's longevity as king. afterwards jumong looks to daeso who is relunctantly standing there. jumong tells his brothers they did well, and yeongpo asks what he used for the first attack, and jumong tells them it was the explosives used by damul warriors. daeso asks if jumong was gathering ash for explosives before and jumong replies yes and steps away. yeongpo tells daeso at this rate jumong will be the crown prince and daeso replies such thing will not happen no matter what.

jumong sends the trio to check status in jinyeong and tells them their army will continue their victory in jinbeom and imdun castle forts. gojoseon remnants are grieving the loss of young cheondong, and jumong promises to avenge and goes to imdun with the old damul warriors and few armymen.. naru overhears this and reports to daeso, who tells naru to go find yangjeong and tell him jumong is headed toward imdun.
gyepil and wootae tell soseono and sayong that buyeo has won, and soseono thanks sayong saying he contributed a lot, and sayong replies he will hear thanks from chief commander jumong instead.

the king is suffering from deep wounds, but against his doctor he asks to be dressed in war attire. daeso arrives with news of their victory to the king, and the king barely has energy to express his joy. geumwa stands up and says he has to go talk to his army, but as he gets up he falls to the ground. meanwhile, naru finds yangjeong and tells him jumong is on his way to imdun to kill the commander there. with this news yangjeong tells his man dongseon to gather the steel army. in jinyeong, soseono finds out jumong has left for imdun, and that geumwa suffered severe wounds and is in critical state. in gyeru nation, the star child tells yeomieul the three-legged bird has disappeared and the sighting she saw was a bad omen. yeomieul sends gyeru men to find out what's going on in buyeo with jumong.

back in buyeo, mawuryeong oracle conducts a spiritual ceremony, and mawuryeong tells the queen a good thing will happen to daeso, for she saw him dazzle while offering to the gods. the queen is happy while yoohwa is worried if something bad has happened to jumong. in jinyeong, daeso and yeongpo watch by geumwa and wonder where jumong is. just then the old damul warrior returns and reports after jumong killed the imdun commander, they were attacked by steel armymen who killed all their men, and jumong who fought til the end is now missing. ohyi brings news of jumong's disappearance to hyeopbo and mari, telling them jumong's group was attacked by steel army and only the old warrior returned. soseono is busy tending to the injured buyeo warriors, when wootae finds her and tells her jumong is missing and maybe dead. soseono cannot believe what she is hearing and appears to be in shock. later, soseono tells gyepil and sayong the news makes no sense and she will go find him herself. soseono leaves on horse, and wootae and sayong go after her.

in buyeo's army camp, budeukbul urges daeso to take over the leadership amidst the chaos. steel army returns to yangjeong and reports to him jumong has fallen into water and is presumed dead. just then dongseon reports to yangjeong geumwa seems to have suffered deep injury from the battle... soseono with sayong and wootae, along with the trio and some others go toward the path jumong was last seen by the river and they find a body in the river but it is not jumong's. soseono passes out after crying her heart out and is taken back to buyeo army camp.

budeukbul tells daeso he seems to have gotten everthing he wants now.. budeukbul asks daeso if he will attack jinbeom. naru returns and reports yangjeong is attacking again and yeodong army is on their way to join yangjeong's force. daeso states he will meet with yangjeong. daeso tells yangjeong to make a deal, asking yangjeong not to attack buyeo for condition that buyeo will not attack imdun and jinbeom. yangjeong asks isn't it a little late to be making a deal, but daeso replies jumong is missing and geumwa is unconscious, thus when daeso returns to buyeo he will inherit the throne and in that case he will marry yang seol-ran.

daeso visits the unconsious geumwa and tells geumwa jumong is missing and the king would be upset but for him, things are going well and asks the king to watch him, for he will unleash the anger and regret buried inside him one by one from now on. daeso decides to retrieve the army back to buyeo, and the trio kneel before him asking him to allow them to continue with war with imdun and jinbeom to save the migrating remants as jumong planned, but yeongpo tells them they've already won and if they don't leave immediately he will have them captured. daeso and yeongpo leave and the trio are left to weep over jumong.... daeso tells soseono her unit did well in the war, and tells her not to be wasting her heart over a dead jumong. soseono replies jumong is not dead but merely missing, but daeso responds by saying if he were alive he would've returned by now. soseono goes toward the river again and weeps over jumong, remembering their first meeting and their past together...

meanwhile mopalmo succeeds again in developing superior steel sword and practices his newly developed sword with musong and after an exchange of swords they discover mopalmo's sword is even stronger than the one made by han which musong used. news of buyeo army returning reaches buyeo, and museok tells yoohwa jumong is missing, and the king is unconscious from his injury. the queen welcomes back yeongpo and daeso and daeso tells her the king is in critical state. mopalmo is in sorrowful despair with news of jumong's disappearance. soseono returns home to yeontabal and weeps in her father's bosom. the queen tells daeso he will be king and daeso replies things have only begun and he will open the sky for her....

jumong 34:
buyeo's new oracle mawuryeong uses her medium power but fails to bring king geumwa back to consciousness. mudeok tends to ill-stricken yoohwa who insists on going to see the king. yoohwa arrives before geumwa and weeps, asking him to awake saying if he doesn't buyeo will be ruined.
meanwhile the queen's brother assures the queen and daeso he will convince the head advisors and generals to make daeso the leader of buyeo while the king is unconscious. budeukbul agrees and tells everyone daeso must lead buyeo. the queen's brother brings daeso to the palace guards and orders them to serve and protect daeso the same as they served the king. daeso names naru the head of guards while the trio watch in surprise. yeongpo wonders what he should do and reassures himself he must do something.

yeongpo goes to see daeso and kneels before him and asks daeso for forgiveness for all his past endeavors. daeso replies he and yeongpo are brothers who came out from the same mother and they should help each other. yeongpo vows his allegiance and promises to serve daeso his best in the future.
the trio go outside the palace, and while hyeopbo and ohyi decide they should quit their guard position, mari tells them they must remain in the palace to protect lady yoohwa in jumong's absence, since who is to know what daeso and the queen might do to yoohwa. dochi and his man pass by and start mocking the trio and their ill-fate, but hyeopbo and ohyi begin beating dochi and his man up. mari warns them not to bother them again and tells hyeopbo and ohyi to leave.

soseono, dressed in white, sits in her room drowned in sorrow. wootae arrives and asks her to come out at last, but soseono remains still and quiet. wootae goes to yeontabal and asks him to go see her, but yeontabal tells wootae to leave her alone, for soseono is a strong girl who needs time to heal from her pain and she will come out when she is ready. sayong brings news of daeso gaining the king's position while the king is unconscious, and yeontabal's group meets, with everyone agreeing that what is happening is not good for their group, for they believed in jumong and now that he is missing things are not in their group's favor. yeontabal is advised to return to gyeru by wootae who fears bad things may happen to them if they remain in buyeo.

queen tells daeso to ged rid of all those who sided with the king to be against her and sachuldo. daeso thinks they are rushing, but the queen insists they must get rid of them while they can. daeso orders them to be dragged before him and when one of the advisors argue for his innocence, saying the king would never accept such injustice, daeso draws his sword and slashes him to death. daeso orders the others to be killed as well, and afterwards confides in budeukbul he is not sure if he is doing the right thing though he is following the queen's wish.budeukbul advises daeso to win over the people's heart and states the way to get to the people's hearts is through mawuryeong.

in gyeru, yeomieul is told geumwa is still in dire state and daeso is running buyeo. next, soryeong reports to yeomieul the starchild cannot see the three-legged bird. yeomieul declares she will go to buyeo even though her maids try to stop her saying it is too dangerous for her to go while daeso is in power for he will try to kill her. back in buyeo yoohwa tends to the king day and night nonstop, even testing the king's medicine before it is given to him. the queen hears this and wonders if yoohwa is trying to say someone might kill the king. the queen tells yoohwa to leave saying she will watch him now but yoohwa insists on staying saying she will not leave unless she is dragged out. queen states yoohwa can go ahead and tend to the king but if the king does not get better yoohwa is to blame.

in hyeonto, yang jeong's yodong army general urges him they should avenge the death of imdun leader, but yang jeong replies they needn't go to war with buyeo to have control over it. yang jeong sends dongseon to buyeo, and when seolran arrives, worried about a war with buyeo, yang jeong comforts her and says they will not go to war, and seolran will be married to daeso soon. yang jeong tells his subordinate haochen to serve seolran from this day forward. yang jeong's messenger arrives in buyeo and afterwards a gloomy daeso goes to the queen and tells her he will have to marry yang seolran. the queen says buyeo won in the war with imdun and jimbeon and thus they should disregard the marriage talk with yang jeong, but daeso states it is not so easy since the han's yodong army from seonam war can attack buyeo anytime, and that the only way he was able to stop yang jeong and yodong army from attacking buyeo was to make a deal with yang jeong with him marrying his daughter. the queen responds daeso has indeed sacrificed too much for buyeo but if that is the only way, then it will be so.

next, daeso conducts court session and tells the advisors and generals yodong army could attack buyeo anytime, and the only way to stop war is for him to marry yang jeong's daughter yang seolran. everyone is surprised and yeongpo says yangjeong is an enemy who has slashed his knife at them and how can he marry the enemy, but daeso asks what other methods do they have. budeukbul speaks up and compliments daeso's sacrifice and says he will support daeso. mopalmo drowns his sorrow in wine again when musong arrives with news that daeso is about to marry yang jeong's daughter yang seolran. musong wonders if daeso is about to sell their nation and wonders how he can continue serving daeso. daeso summons mopalmo's assistant from iron factory who reveals to daeso mopalmo has already succeeded in developing steel sword stronger than the ones from han.

mopalmo says goodbye to the iron factory, when daeso arrives and asks him to bring the sword he recently made. mopalmo says he hasn't made any such strong sword, and daeso orders mopalmo to be captured until he confesses. the trio tell the king's bodyguard songju they want to protect yoohwa and asks songju to keep it a secret. just then naru brings mopalmo to the trio and tells the trio to punish mopalmo until he confesses. ohyi states he cannot do so and naru slaps him. mari and hyeopbo also state they cannot do so and naru draws his sword to behead them, but songju stops naru and naru orders mopalmo to be chained up instead. with the trio watching in horror, naru whips mopalmo and demands him to confess...

yeontabal finally goes to see soseono and tells her it is time for her to let it go and stand up again. yeontabal states buyeo is already in daeso's control and he will not ask her to marry him, but she should at least get up and get ahold of herself. soseono weeps and sayong comes in to tell him yeomieul has arrived from gyeru. yeontabal and soseono go outside to greet yeomieul and yeomieul tells them she must help geumwa who is unconscious. yeontabal tells her geumwa has already forsaken her, but yeomieul says though he did so she has not been able to forsake him, thus she must help geumwa. soseono replies to do so means yeomieul must risk life to go inside the palace. next, soseono arrives in buyeo palace before lady yoohwa and informs yoohwa yeomieul wants to help geumwa and she is now waiting for her word. yoohwa goes back to the king's bedside and makes up her decision.

soseono is walking back and runs into daeso. soseono greets him and daeso asks why she is doing here. soseono replies she came to see yoohwa and daeso asks her if she remembers what he told her before they left for war, and warns her jumong is dead and she should forget everything. soseono replies until she sees jumong dead with her own eyes she will not believe him to be dead, and even if he is dead, she will not go to daeso. the trio go to yeomieul and tells her lady yoohwa has called for her. the trio, with help from songju, safely brings yeomieul to the king's bedside. yeomieul asks yoohwa to stay clear from the bedside and after yoohwa leaves, yeomieul is in tears watching geumwa. yoohwa goes outside while yeomieul uses her power to try and bring geumwa back.

meanwhile the queen laments her woe to daeso saying geumwa always only wanted yoohwa by his side, even to his death. daeso states he will get rid of yoohwa from geumwa's side but the queen says to leave it be. next daeso goes to see mopalmo who still will not confess even after bloody beatings. daeso tries to talk nice to mopalmo and asks where the sword is, but mopalmo insists such sword does not exist. daeso is furious and orders naru to let mopalmo free and send him back to the iron factory. daeso gives mopalmo a few hours to make superior sword and if he doesn't succeed by then he will be beheaded. afterwards daeso goes toward the king's corridor. the trio and mudeok are nervous and yoohwa says she will take care of it thus they shouldn't make a big deal before daeso. daeso tells yoohwa he will visit geumwa shortly, but yoohwa puts on a straight face and tells daeso the head physician is tending the king at the moment thus daeso should come back another time. daeso says it doesn't matter and heads toward the door to go in, but yoohwa mocks him asking him if he wants to get in the physician's way on purpose and insists daeso to come back another time.

inside the king's room, yeomieul awakens geumwa momentarily, but the king slips back into unconsciouness. yeomieul reports the result to yoohwa. yeomieul tells yoohwa she is unsure what will happen as the king is fighting life and death. yoohwa tells yeomieul the queen and daeso have taken over and even if the king does regain consciousness there is no guarantee what the queen and daeso won't do to the king. yeomieul tells yoohwa it is best for her to wait for the gods to reveal their will. yeomieul tries to comfort yoohwa about jumong but yoohwa says no one has seen jumong thus she does not believe jumong to be dead. yeomieul looks at her while remembering that the starchild is not seeing the three-legged bird.

daeso decides to return to the king's corridor with naru, and daeso orders yoohwa to leave the king's side, but yoohwa says that is nonsense as she will tend to the king. daeso orders her to stop talking and states the king's side is his mother's place, and orders naru to have her dragged away.

jumong ep. 35:
at daeso's order, naru puts yoohwa in house arrest, but yoohwa tells her maid mudeok not to show tears before her and that she will not succomb to this kind of mistreatment. the queen goes to daeso and asks why he did such a thing and worries that the palace leaders and the citizens might spread ill rumors about him. daeso says he worries about no such thing as long as he can disperse the queen's fury. the trio watch naru and his men closing off yoohwa's corridor and wonder how they can save yoohwa. yeomieul tells yeontabal about yoohwa's house arrest. yeontabal tells soseono she should go back to gyeru to avoid confrontation with daeso, but soseono replies if she did it would instigate him more. yeomieul agrees with soseono's assessment and yeontabal then asks about geumwa's condition, and yeomieul states she needs to go back to the palace to treat him again but seeing that yoohwa is under house arrest it will be very difficult. soseono says she will find a way.

in the palace, oracle mawuryeong and the two other sachuldo oracles feel a sense of breathlessness while they pray to the gods and mawuryeong states the reason why it is so must be because yeomieul has returned to buyeo. the queen finds out about it from mawuryeong and the queen summons yeongpo to tell him yeomieul might be in buyeo again and she must be back because of the king. the queen tells yeongpo yeomieul is bad omen for buyeo and tells yeongpo to get rid of her. mopalmo is in the iron factory and he tells musong he will rather die than to give steel sword over to daeso.

yeongpo meets with dochi who tells him yeomieul is staying at yeontabal's, and yeongpo tells him to wait until she leaves the merchant base before they make any move. soseono tells yeomieul they are being watched. dochi and his men are watching when wootae escorts a wagon out from the base. dochi and his men begin attack and they discover sayong is in the wagon instead of yeomieul as they expected. while wootae and sayong are distracting dochi and his men, soseono and yeomieul arrive in the palace. yeomieul goes inside the king's corridor, when the trio report to soseono they must save mopalmo who will soon be killed by daeso.

dochi reports to yeongpo about their failure and yeongpo slaps dochi and leaves. yeomieul continues to use her powers on geumwa but is still unsuccessful. the king's guard songju says they must leave the palace at once and starts escorting her out when yeongpo and his men arrive, surrounding the two with swords.
naru tells daeso he should go out and see what's going on. yeomieul tells yeongpo if he kills her he will always be under a dark spell and if he is confident then he should proceed killing her. yeongpo scoffs her and raises sword at her but daeso arrives in time to stop him. daeso asks yeomieul what she's doing here and she replies she came to treat the king. daeso orders yeongpo to leave, and sends everyone else away as well. daeso thanks yeomieul for coming all the way to buyeo to save the king despite she being forsaken by the king. daeso asks her about the king's condition and if there is any hope for recovery. yeomieul replies the king is in dire state and it is unclear what will happen to him. daeso asks yeomieul to stay in the palace to help the king, but yeomieul replies she has done what she can and the rest is up to the heaven's. daeso tells yeomieul when he was wounded by haemosu's sword she was the one who saved him, and today he has paid back the debt. daeso lets yeomieul go, and the queen is notified by yeongpo about it. the queen thinks about it for a while and says daeso did great since he now can win the people's heart when they find out he did his best to save the king even calling yeomieul back.

the trio tell musong they will atempt saving mopalmo at nighttime. naru goes to yeontabal's base and tells them daeso has summoned yeontabal and soseono to the palace. soseono and yeontabal arrive before daeso who offers them wine. yeontabal apologizes for not coming to see him sooner and daeso looks at sosoeno, and tells yeontabal he will soon marry hyeonto's yang seolran. daeso goes on and states though he will marry it will only be a marriage to fulfil promise, and yeontabal should know that the one he loves is soseono, thus he wishes to make soseono his wife and he will help gyeru in that case. soseono tells him not to threaten them and daeso responds she is a bright woman thus she should know this is no time for her to talk arrogantly, and warns her if she should decline his wish she and yeontabal will not be forgiven.

yeontabal and soseono return to their base and all are worried about what their future holds. wootae brings news from gyeru which states song yang of biyru has prepared army ready to attack gyeru. yeonchaeryeong talks to soseono in private and tells her the one she loves jumong is already dead and she needs to make the right decision for gyeru now. while alone at night, soseono goes out the courtyard and tearfully remembers her past with jumong together. wootae comes out and tells her it is time for them to save mopalmo.

in buyeo's iron factory, naru has his men watching and guarding mopalmo who is pretending to make sword. the trio masked and dressed in black arrive and get rid of the guards. they reach mopalmo and escorts him out to the awaiting soseono and wootae. mopalmo is hesistant as he is worried about soseono and the trio's safety if he goes missing, but soseono urges him to go to gyeru at once and sends musong with him. naru reports news of mopalmo's escape to daeso, who tells him mopalmo must be captured no matter what since he may indeed have skills to create steel sword superior to that of the hans. naru raises his sword to the trio and demands answer about mopalmo, but songju arrives and vouches for the trio. naru tells his men to search everywhere...

daeso goes to the queen and tells her it is time for him to go to hyeonto to bring seolran here. the queen tells daeso though he is marrying seolran for buyeo, after they marry seolran will be his wife and buyeo's person, thus he should not give her the kind of pain the queen has endured. daeso arrives in hyeonto and yang jeong tells daeso seolran has been anticipating his arrival. next yang jeong asks about geumwa's condition and daeso replies he is still in critical state. yang jeong says it is all because of the war geumwa insisted. yang jeong asks daeso to return the gojoseon migrants back to imdun and jinbeom. daeso is hesistant but agrees, after yang jeong states unless he does so he will not be able to stop the han imperial or yodong army from attacking buyeo.

back in buyeo wootae goes to soseono, and soseono tells wootae she wishes to marry him. wootae is surprised and asks why she is acting this way. soseono tells wootae if he won't marry her she will have to be daeso's concubine. wootae says they can just return to gyeru and survive without buyeo's help.
soseono says things are not what they used to be, and her only opportunity to dodge being daeso's concubine is to marry wootae now. soseono states though she still only has jumong in her heart, things will change after time passes, and asks wootae to accept her request since he has always trusted her from the time she was a child. wootae responds if it is her request, he will always oblige even if it's death, but he is afraid he does not have the right to be her man.... soseono calls a meeting with her father and tells everyone she will marry wootae. yeonchaeryeong asks why and gyepil is just as surprised, but wootae states if yeontabal will approve, he will marry soseono. yeontabal asks soseono why she has made that decision, and soseono says she would rather die than to be daeso's concubine, and wootae is one who can understand her. yeonchaeryeong scolds soseono for being selfish and states the reason they have become this humble is because of soseono's stubborn decison to join in on the war. soseono tells her aunt she cannot marry daeso and asks them to trust her.

afterwards gyepil scoffs wootae, and tells him he had wished wootae would marry a normal woman who can bare him son and daughter, but by marrying soseono they will have to be responsible for gyeru's fate.
gyepil asks wootae to change his heart, but wootae says he understands his father's worry, but he must serve lady soseono and his happiness is to protect her. sayong meets with soseono as well and he is wordless. soseono tells him to say something and sayong tells her he respects her choice, but he feels sorry for wootae since soseono only has jumong in her heart. soseono says she will forget jumong from now on, but sayong says it is not so easy to forget a loved one. soseono is overcome with emotions and states she will forget he who threw her away and weeps.

yeomieul is back in gyeru and hears news of soseono marrying wootae. soryeong tells yeomieul wootae's future is gloom as she sees death in him. mopalmo and musong are in gyeru as well and musong urges mopalmo it is time for him to forget jumong and wonders if mopalmo should start serving soseono instead. daeso returns to buyeo with yang seolran and the two arrive before the queen and everyone else. the queen tells seolran not to be so disappointed that they cannot give her a grand wedding since the king is still unconscious and the will wed before the gods instead thus yang seolran and daeso are married before mawuryeong and the shrine to the gods. budeukbul congrats daeso afterwards and says it is time to release yoohwa. daeso agrees.

the queen celebrates with yang seolran and compliments seolran on her beauty. the queen asks seolran to make daeso welcomed and comfortable when he returns to his imperial corridor each day after working hard for buyeo. seolran agrees. yeongpo drinks with dochi and his man, and tells them he is not interested in women and he feels lost and bored with life now that he has no goal left since the title of crown prince is completely gone. daeo asks naru if he's found mopalmo yet but naru says he is still searching. daeso urges him to find him before mopalmo's skills are given to someone else. naru reports to daeso while he was gone to hyeonto, soseono married wootae. maid mudeok tells yoohwa she has been freed from house arrest and that while she was under arrest daeso married yang seolran.

daeso goes to yeontabal's base and watches in fury as soseono and daeso appear. soseono has her hair up like a married maid, and daeso asks if she really married wootae and she responds yes. daeso asks if she did so to escape from him and soseono says she married wootae who has been her long time companion.
daeso orders her to shut up and reminds her he already warned about what will happen if she rejected him and leaves, after stating he will show her what is to come. after daeso leaves, soseono tells wootae not to worry since daeso will not be able to get rid of them just yet since the elders of buyeo will not allow it. yoohwa visits the king first thing as she gets out and finds out the king is still in critical state and unconscious.

it's daeso and seolran's first night and seolran tells him she is now his woman and buyeo's person. daeso thanks her and embraces her. yoohwa is by the king and asks the king to wake up at last as she puts her hands on his. the king mutters something and opens his eyes. the queen, her brother, and yeongpo are celebrating and the queen asks yeongpo if something's bothering him, and he says no. the queen says they should get yeongpo a bride soon too and that she is very happy with seolran. just then the queen's maid arrives with news that the king has regained consciousness. yeongpo is happy but the queen and the brother are looking gloom.

naru interrupts daeso and seolran with news that the king has awaken. meanwhile, the star child goes to yeomieul at night after a shocking sighting. the star child tells yeomieul she saw the missing three-legged bird again and afterwards the star child faints. next, in a dark cave somewhere.. jumong is there.

episode 36:
with yoohwa at his side, king geumwa awakens from his coma, and prince daeso shows his fear before the queen, saying once the king finds out everything he won't sit still, but the queen urges him to be confident and tough without waver. geumwa asks yoohwa what happened and yoohwa explains he fell in the war and has been asleep for a long time since. geumwa asks what happened in the war and what happened with jumong, but before yoohwa can answer the queen and her two sons arrive. daeso tells the king he thought the sky was falling when he was in a coma, and yeongpo also tells the king if the heavens were to forsake the king he would've followed him. the king asks to be raised up and the first question he asks is where is jumong and asks them to summon jumong. daeso replies jumong disappeared in the war and whether or not he is alive is unknown. the king is upset but asks for details. daeso explains jumong was ambushed by steel warriors after he killed imdun's commandar. yeongpo adds because yodong army of han were headed their way they had to retreat back to buyeo.

daeso goes out and tells budeukbul and other generals to leave for now since the king is still weak.
the trio are told the king has regained consciousness and ohyi goes to yeontabal's base and asks to see miss soseono. yeonchaeryeong scolds ohyi saying soseono is already married and asks him not to trouble her with news that relate to jumong as that will only make her suffer. just then soseono arrives and ohyi relates news about the king to her. after he leaves soseono asks yeonchaeryeong what she said to ohyi and chaeryeong replies she told ohyi not to bother soseono again since nothing good can come from lingering onto jumong-related news.

yeontabal asks wootae and soseono to return to gyeru, but soseono insists on remaining in buyeo. wootae later asks her why she insists on staying in buyeo, and soseono replies it is more dangerous in gyeru than here, but wootae says he hopes she will no longer be troubled by the dark fate between daeso and jumong.
in gyeru yeomieul asks to see musong and mopalmo, and she tells them jumong is alive according to the starchild's vision. the starchild then tells the two they need to go save jumong as he cannot come out by himself. mopalmo and musong, along with gyeru's head butler leave gyeru with saving jumong as their mission.

meanwhile, in an unknown location, jumong is imprisoned and watches helplessly as miss yesoya is dragged outside by the wards. afterwards jumong remembers his life being saved by ye-soya's father ye cheon, who is passingby with his group when he spotted jumong floating in the river and sent his men to save him.
ye-cheon insists on saving jumong despite them having to escort him in wagon slowing down their journey. ye cheon is sure that jumong is a general from some nation and believes saving him will benefit their group some day. yecheon and his men return to hanbaek's bon-yeong village and yecheon's daughter ye-so-ya runs out to greet her father and asks who jumong is. yecheon jokes he brought with him a groom for her since she said she wanted to get married. yesoya laughs at the remark and leaves, but her father's rebellious subordinate seol-tak appears upset. yecheon's doctor tells him jumong still has a breath but he is as weak as dead and it is unclear whether or not he will survive.

soya and her maid visit jumong who is unconsicous and the maid says jumong is indeed handsome and if he lives he is good enough to be miss ye's husband. yecheon finds out his servant seol-tak made a deal with hyeonto giving them 200 horses for money. ye cheon is angry at seol-tak for dealing with the hans who have done nothing but kill their people in the past, but seol-tak is firm and states they cannot live in the past and must think about their future too. at night seol-tak goes to see soya and tells her he wants her to be his woman and embraces her but soya slaps and tells him she has no thought of becoming his woman at all and leaves. soya goes and tends to jumong when he finally awakes. soya sends her maid out to get the doctor. jumong asks yesoya where he is and ye cheon arrives to tell him he is the head of hanbaek and asks who jumong is. jumong replies he is buyeo's prince he fell during war with han nation. jumong thx ye cheon for saving his life, but ye cheon replies ye soya is the one who nursed him back to life. jumong looks at miss ye and thanks her.

jumong is recovering and walks outside of his room when he is met with miss ye who is boiling medicine for him. jumong asks if she knows whether or not buyeo won and miss ye says she heard yodong group was moving that director but she is not sure who won. just then ye cheon's butler comes to her with news that seol-tak is invading them and she should flee right away. miss ye says she cannot leave without her father and remains. meanwhile seol-tak slashes yecheon to death and leaves, but yesoya and jumong arrive in time to face him and jumong almost succeeds in stopping seoltak and his men, but seoltak has a sword at soya's throat and thus jumong gives up his weapon and becomes seoltak's prisioner. back in buyeo mawuryeong believes jumong may still be alive but warns her oracles not to tell the queen just yet as she is not sure. the queen blames the turn of events on yeomieul saying they should've killed her when they could. yeongpo blames it on jumong, but daeso says their father is one who could create another jumong if he wanted to. next budeukbul and daeso meet to scheme their next move...

geumwa asks yoohwa how she can endure all this when he feels he is heart is falling apart, and yoohwa replies she believes jumong is alive and he will surely return. yoohwa goes on and tells him how while he was in a coma, daeso took over control and made deal with hyeonto city thus the king must regain power as soon as possible. daeso orders his man naru to keep a close eye on the activities in and out of the king's corridor, as well as that of lady yoohwa. the king's loyal guard songju comes to the king and the king tells him to find the head general heuk-chi. heuk-chi arrives inside the king's corridor, with naru watching from distance. the king tells heukjae he never doubted his loyalty and that he plans to return things to the way things were. heukchi asks what the king wants and the king asks how many soldiers he has and heukchi replies about 2000 men. the king says to get his army ready to move when the king gives him the order. naru reports to daeso and budeukbul that the head general is getting his army ready and daeso states the king intends to have him killed. daeso orders naru to send message to sachuldo's leaders and the leaders agree they need to attack buyeo palace immediately.

in buyeo palace, the head general heukchi summons the trio telling them he needs trustworthy men to work for him. naru finds out about this and sends spy after them. the spy watches as heukchi is gathering his army... while naru goes up the trio and asks if anything's happened but the trio says nothing. naru reports to daeso heukchi has gathered an army outside the palace and songju is scheming something with the trio inside the palace. daeso says to wait because they cannot be the first to make a move. seolran is feeling uneasy and calls her servant haochen. when he reports daeso is still in the meeting room seolran states she will go visit him. seolran goes to daeso and asks why he isn't sleeping when it's late at night and asks what his worries are. daeso replies he just had a lot of work to do. daeso then asks seolran what will happen if he cannot inherit the throne, and seolran replies that is nonsense as she will get rid of anything blocking his way and thus he should tell her if he needs help since she will ask her father for help when needed.

it is early dusk and songju tells the trio to get ready. meanwhile, sachuldo's army arrives in buyeo and naru reports the news to daeso. it is night time and songju is leading a group of guards toward palace gates when he is ambushed by daeso and his men. daeso asks where songju is going in such a hurry and songju reports they are headed for training. daeso asks where they are going for training that so many guards are all going at once, and songju tells his men to begin attack. songju's guards face off with naru and his men while daeso watches.... but at last daeso joins in and starts killing off the guards. daeso slashes songju's left arm off and points his sword at songju's throat... yeongpo who is with dochi and his man realize something is up as they see the army men heading toward the palace and yeongpo states he needs to go find out what's happening. sayong brings news of sachuldo army attacking buyeo palace and soseono and wootae are alarmed. sachuldo's leader the maga governer leads his army into the palace for attack and orders a group of men to follow him toward the king's corridor. maga lead is met by daeso in the hallway and the two continue together. yeonpo arrives asking what is happening but daeso orders him to leave. the queen's maid tells her the maga elder and daeso are headed toward the king's corridor. the queen is happy with such news.. heukchi and his army arrive, but the palace ia already guarded by the sachuldo army and the army lead orderd heukchi to retreat as he is one step too late.

budeukbul is too shameful to face the king and remains outside, while the maga elder and daeso appear before the king and tells him it's all too late. the king sees a bonded songju with his arm cut off but says nothing... daeso asks the king if he intends to kill him and what he plans to gain with that, and why does he have to exchange swords with his own father. the king finally speaks and tells daeso he is the one who has tolen his throne and why is he asking him these questions instead. the king asks if daeso wants his life and daeso says the king is still too weak to rule over buyeo and until he recovers he wants the king to let him rule buyeo instead. yoohwa yells and says how they can say the king is too weak when he is already recovered, but the maga elder and daeso order yoohwa to be taken out. yoohwa is dragged outside and the king being laughing, then telling daeso to do as he wishes.

meanwhile in hanbaek, jumong is taken before seol-tak and jumong sees that yesoya is also in bondage.
seoltak's men force jumong to kneel before seoltak and asks jumong is he really is buyeo's prince jumong. seoltak laughs and says he would've killed him had he not known his identity, but now that he knows his identity he will bring him to hyeonto city.

the trio leave the palace and wonder what will they do now. they are met by musong on his way back from gyeru. musong summons them to a meeting and tells them jumong is still alive. the trio asks for details and the gyeru butler yangtak tells them about the starchild's sighting of jumong's reincarnation as 3-legged bird. the trio are anxious to go find jumong at once but yangtak says he will pay the merchant base a visit first. yangtak is greeted by soseono and wootae who ask what he's doing here and yangtak glances at soseono and avoids telling her about jumong and instead asks to see yeontabal... in buyeo palace daeso celebrates with the sachuldo governors thanking them for their support and promises them should the governors' sons wish to serve buyeo imperial they will get a post too. the governors are happy and next daeso awards them with gold and textiles. meanwhile yeongpo is angry at his uncle for not keeping him informed, but the uncle says it is over now and he shouldn't worry too much. however, yeongpo states he wants to do something for buyeo too. the prince's uncle scoffs him saying daeso is one who risked his life for the king, and if yeongpo goes against daeso he will bleed.

yeongpo goes to see the king and wonders aloud how daeso can mistreat the king, saying daeso is blind and deaf by greed. yeongpo vows he will be by the king's side and asks him to recover from whatever he suffers from. the king tells yeongpo not to mock daeso and yeongpo is surprised. the palace oracles visit the queen and mawuryeong asks the queen if she is sure that jumong is dead. the queen asks if she is suggesting jumong could be alive, and mawuryeong replies she believes the possibility is strong.
the queen orders mawuryeong not to repeat the suspicion to anyone else and becomes worried...
budeukbul reminds daeso the opportunity he now has came by risking his life, and daeso must seize the opportunity to remove any doubt of his competency as king and he should win over the citizen's heart so he can shine as a ruler. daeso says he will remember his advice and goes to see the queen next. daeso apologizes for not visiting her more often and the queen comforts him saying he needn't worry about her. the queen appears solemn and daeso asks her to reveal her worry. the king tells daeso according to mawuryeong jumong could still be alive and daeso wonders how that can be true since jumong would have returned to buyeo by now if he still existed. the queen states they cannot ignore mawuryeong's words lightly.

daeso sends naru to where jumong disappeared from and tells him to search for jumong's body since he wishes to confirm his death with his own eyes. meanwhile, the trio, mopalmo, musong, and yangtak are also searching through the villages by the water and they are unable to find any news of jumong...
jumong is back in hanbaek prison and remembers seoltak's words that jumong will be taken to hyeonto soon. yesoya wishes to see seoltak and warns him it will be a mistake for him not to return jumong to buyeo.
seoltak says he feels unsettled that soya seems concerned by jumong, and soya reminds him the reason her father never wanted to deal with the hans is because the way hans have treated them and seoltak says he doesn't care about all that and tells her if she agrees to be his woman he will let her live.

yesoya goes to visit jumong at night and the prison ward agrees but urges her to make it fast or else they will be in deep trouble with lord seoltak. soya apologizes for the way her group has treated him and says there is nothing she can do for him. jumong comforts her saying there are still things for him to accomplish thus he will not easily die and asks her not to be troubled by it. in hyeonto, yang jeong gets a message from hanbaek group that jumong has been captured by them. yang jeong laughs but his minister wonders if it could be true by a small chance. yang jeong tells him to send someone to go confirm the news. back in buyeo seolran's servant haochen informs her the reason why daeso doesn't come by her bedside is not only because of work, but also because of soseono. seolran finds out everything and states she cannot let the matter go easily. seolran goes to see daeso and daeso tells her he feels peaceful in her presence amidst hard work and seolran asks if he really enjoys being in her presence and asks whether he means soseono.
daeso is surprised and asks how she knows about soseono and seolran replies it is her job to find out everything about him. daeso says he will not deny that he once liked soseono but that was before he married seolran, but seolran states she will fix anything that is in his way to reach his full potential as a nation's head.

yang jeong is meeting with song yang of biryu when a message from haochen arrives for yang jeong. yang jeong reads the message and becomes angry at daeso. next, song yang arrives and asks to see daeso. song yang tells daeso he has no ill will against buyeo and that he was only trying to stop yeontabal before. song yang gives message from yang jeong to daeso as a token of them being on the same side. daeso agrees to forget about the past since the war is over. yang jeong's servant gives daeso another message from yang jeong and daeso appears shocked..

sayong brings news of song yang's visit to daeso and yeontabal's group is worried about what this means. yeontabal states he will visit daeso himself, but just then naru arrives with small army and captures yeontabal at daeso's order. yeontabal is taken to the palace and soseono et al are worried... yeontabal is in bonds and brought before the daeso. yeontabal asks how he can be treated this way when he served buyeo through the war. daeso states while yeontabal sent a material unit, he doubled the price of goods in buyeo and brings out dochi as his witness to accuse yeontabal as one who served against buyeo. yeontabal laughs and mocks how sad buyeo's fate is to have a fool like daeso ruling them and asks to be killed instead. naru orders yeontabal to be taken into custody again and yeontabal tells daeso not to forget he is the epitome of shame right now. yeontabal is taken away and daeso appears to be upset. next, daeso meets with song yang and tells him buyeo will cut all ties with gyeru from now and asks song yang and biryu to take that place instead. soseono is angered and appalled by the crime thrown on yeontabal and states she will go see daeso herself. in the palace, song yang tells yeontabal once he returns to jolbon he will claim gyeru and sell yeontabal's relatives as slaves so that yeontabal cannot even die in peace.

seolran asks daeso if he will kill yeontabal saying if he did it would mean to be enemy with soseono, but daeso states in order to assure the people of buyeo he will do what needs to be done. just then the guard announces soseono has arrived and daeso glances at seolran and says to send soseono back, but seolran urges him to go see her since she is worth pitying to be here for her father. daeso goes out and stares at soseono with fury. soseono kneels before daeso and asks him to let her father live. daeso asks if she ever listend to him in the past and how foolish of her to be begging him now. soseono asks to have her killed in lieu of her father if he is doing this out of anger and daeso tells her that her father has committed a dire crime and he will now receive the rightful punishement, and orders soseono to leave. seolran comes out and tells daeso soseono seems to be a good daughter who wants to die for her father, and daeso should grant soseono's wish to die. seolran looks at soseono and says she had heard she was a bright girl but she now knows it was all a rumor. seolran then looks at daeso and says she feels sorry toward him that he loved someone like soseono at one point. daeso tells soseono to leave now and goes back to his corridor.
soseono visits her father in the prison and while holding onto his hands, she weeps silently. yeontabal urges her to stop crying and soseono vows to avenge for him, and yeontabal replies if she is to avenge she must remain alive and what she must do now is to find the path to keep herself and gyeru alive. just then daeso arrives after drinking alone, and daeso tells the father and daughter that from now on buyeo is to cut all ties with gyeru and from now on no one from gyeru is allowed to set foot on buyeo again. soseono and yeontabal return to their base, and soseono announces everyone is to dry up their tears and prepare for departure from buyeo.

dochi finds out yeontabal was spared death but looks at the positive side and states from now on their business will flourish. dochi goes to see yeongpo and tells him news that yeontabal has been expelled from buyeo and asks yeongpo to help him with his business, but yeongpo scoffs him and says he is not in the mood to help a pathetic fool like dochi. in court, daeso is seated on throne and tells his subjects to work their hardest as he looks for a new direction for buyeo, vowing not to be enthralled in war again. budeukbul reads out a list of promotions and yeongpo is angry when he is not given any promotion. yeongpo goes after daeso and daeso scoffs him for calling him 'brother'. yeongpo calls daeso 'your majesty' and then asks how it is that he didn't give his only brother a new position and daeso says enough and tells yeongpo to leave. yeongpo goes to lament his woes to the queen and the queen says to endure through for now as daeso still needs time to settle the court and says she will go talk to daeso later, but yeongpo says no and vows daeso will pay for his mistake of throwing him away one of these days.

yeomieul is told news about yeontabal and soryeong warns yeomieul it is dangerous for her to remain in gyeru. meanwhile the king goes out of his room at last and breaths a fresh air. geumwa tells yoohwa he is too ashamed to face her after what happened and says he doesn't know what to say before her after all that she's suffered. next, geumwa asks to see daeso and daeso is about to report to geumwa the happenings in court, when geumwa stops him and says he already put everything in daeso's hand thus daeso is to do what he wants. geumwa brings up the fact that daeso put yoohwa under housearrest and asks daeso to take care of yoohwa as that is the only thing that troubles him and daeso states he will honor the king's wish.
meanwhile yoohwa is in her room calling out jumong....

the trio spot out steel warriors passing by a village and the trio are sure that it has to do with prince jumong.
seoltak escorts the steel warriors to jumong's prison and the warrior sees jumong with his eyes and confirms jumong is buyeo's prince. seoltak asks his man to take jumong out and yesoya who is in another cell gets up to call out jumong's name. jumong exchanges looks with miss ye and is pushed out of the prison.
the steel warrior from hyeonto are taking jumong to hyeonto and the trio spot him out and report the news to mopalmo and musong. the trio state they must save jumong before they reach hyeonto or else.
the trio et all are waiting for the steel warriors to pass by and they ambush them and successfully saves jumong, with mopalmo giving jumong the superior-than-han sword he made.

episode 38:
jumong is saved from the steel warriors by the trio, yangtak, musong, and mopalmo. with the newly given sword from mopalmo, jumong begins fighting off the warriors and the remaining warriors flee after seeing jumong kill off some of their men without much effort. the trio and the group are overwhelmed with emotions after seeing jumong again. yangtak informs jumong everyone thought he was dead but yeomieul and her starchild are truly amazing in their foresight. jumong asks about king geumwa's condition and what happened with war with imdun and jinbeon, and everyone's quiet. finally yangtak tells jumong about what happened after jumong disappeared. jumong is shocked and asks about yoohwa and geumwa's condition and the trio reply they are under daeso's control as well.

jumong goes by the river to reflect alone, and the trio arrive to urge him to return to buyeo. jumong asks mari what happened to soseono, and mari replies she is alive. jumong sends musong and mopalmo back, and tells yangtak to inform yeomieul he will visit her soon. next, jumong takes the trio back to hanbaek village to rescue yesoya. in hanbaek, seoltak is telling soya after they hand jumong over to hyeonto, their village will receive great benefit, but soya responds he is wrong and they will only be faced with more danger. seoltak tells soya he will wed her before the villagers and soya says she would rather die then to marry him. seoltak says whether she dies or lives, it is up to him, and her only choice is to marry him and accept him. seoltak orders his man yeong-no to carefully watch over soya for if something goes wrong with her it is the same as yeong-no meeting death.

it is nighttime and jumong and the trio arrive in hanbaek, and they successfully kill off the guards to reach soya inside the prison. jumong orders hyeopbo to flee with soya, just as seoltak and his men arrive, ordering soya to be captured at once. a fight breaks out while hyeopbo takes soya away on horse. jumong, ohyi and mari flee after killing off some of the men and seoltak orders his remaining men to chase them on horse; however as they chase after jumong, they are faced with death as jumong shoots them to death one at a time with his powerful arrows. next, jumong, the trio, and yesoya reunite by the river and jumong asks soya if she's hurt and she replies no. jumong informs her he should kill seoltak but for now he is in a hurry to return to buyeo, but he will for sure avenge for her in the future.

in hyeonto city, yangjeong is informed that jumong is indeed alive and that he escaped from the steel warriors on their way back to hyeonto. yangjeong orders his man to immediately inform daeso about jumong being alive. yangjeong is sure that daeso will kill jumong before jumong can return to buyeo.

in buyeo king geumwa is continuing to recover and yoohwa informs him yeontabal has been exiled from buyeo by daeso. geumwa calls for songju and tells him to bring yeontabal before him. yeontabal's group is packing up their base, with naru watching their every move. songju reports to naru the king wishes to see yeontabal, but naru insists he must have approval from daeso first. naru goes to see daeso to tell him yeontabal and soseono are waiting to see the king outside the palace, and daeso approves their visit. yeontabal and soseono are brought before king geumwa and lady yooha. yeontabal apologizes for not visiting sooner but geumwa says he understands the situation and thanks him for his service to buyeo, and states he is sorry that buyeo has brought yeontabal shame. soseono speaks up and tells geumwa during her stay in buyeo she has learned many things and no matter what hardship they face in the future they will endure through thus he needn't worry about them.

next, soseono and yoohwa speak outside, and yoohwa apologizes to soseono for not being able to congratulate soseono for her marriage, and yoohwa says she knows full well how much soseono must have suffered under daeso, and apologizes on behalf of jumong who failed to protect soseono. soseono weeps and yoohwa weeps as well, saying as a mother she cannot forget jumong, but urges soseono to forget about jumong for that is what he would wish. the two embrace and weep together. daeso walks pass as soseono and yeontabal are leaving the palace, and soseono stares at daeso with anger while daeso gazes her back with regretful eyes. soseono leaves, and daeso drinks alone.. seolran arrives and asks daeso why he isn't going to bed and daeso asks her sit by him. seolran asks if he has worries and daeso replies no. seolran says she knows soseono was at the palace earlier and asks daeso if he is like this because soseono is leaving for gyeru. daeso says nothing, and seolran urges daeso to forget about soseono now, or else she is not sure what she might do to soseono. daeso is alarmed and seolran states she doesn't care if he touches 10 other women, as long as she is the only one who has his heart.

naru calls daeso to go outside and daeso watches as yeongpo is about to slash the palace maids for rejecting him. daeso asks yeongpo to stop and yeongpo says he is just teaching the maids a lesson about palace rules. daeso orders the maids to leave and yeongpo says he isnt' done yet. daeso asks what shameful behavior he is showing and yeongpo replies daeso is the low one who steals the king's power. daeso slaps yeongpo and yeongpo warns him he is without any fear now and he is only a prince in name.
daeso slaps him more and orders yeongpo to be taken to prison. the queen finds out and calls yeongpo pathetic. the queen visits yeongpo in prison and scoffs yeongpo, saying he is lucky to receive such light punishment for what he has done. yeongpo is dismayed at the queen's response and the queen wonders how yeongpo and daeso are so different when they both came out of her, and leaves, after telling yeongpo to think about how pathetic he is while in prison.

mopalmo, musong and yangtak return to gyeru and inform yeomieul that jumong is saved and on his way to buyeo. yeomieul states jumong cannot go back to buyeo for daeso will kill him in that case, and sends musong to buyeo right away to stop jumong from entering the buyeo palace. yeongpo is freed at last and brought to daeso in his study. daeso asks yeongpo to sit and asks if he's in his right mind now. yeongpo says nothing and daeso asks yeongpo why he cannot understand his heart, and asks if he really thinks he hates him. yeongpo says of course he does, and daeso says to set his sights further. daeso tells yeongpo to trust him and when the time is right he will give yeongpo important tasks. daeso then dismisses yeongpo and yeongpo goes out in fury, vowing he will not easily be fooled and that he will return the shame back to daeso in the future. just then naru passes by and yeongpo asks naru if he has something to say to him and naru apologizes saying it was daeso's order thus he had no choice. yeongpo slaps him twice and says not to be so confident merely because of daeso. naru reports to daeso yangjeong's man came from hyeonto and daeso is told by yangjeong's man that jumong is alive.

jumong, yesoya, and the trio arrive in buyeo, and mari is sure that yangjeong must have informed daeso about jumong being alive. the trio all agree that it is too dangerous for him to go in the palace at this time.
jumong states he will go to yeontabal's base to meet soseono and the trio are silent. jumong asks why and if something has happened to soseono. mari reports soseono married wootae and jumong is speechless by the news. yeontabal, soseono, wootae, sayong, yeonchaeryeong, and gyepil, along with their workers begin their exile from buyeo, and jumong shows up at their base a few steps too late, but jumong is told they left not long ago thus if he hurries he will catch up to them. jumong goes after soseono by horse, and jumong catches up them, but he can only watch soseono from a distance. as jumong watches soseono pass by, jumong remembers the trio's words saying soseono chose to marry wootae to escape subjection to daeso's concubine, and that their group's exile from buyeo is all because of that incident.

in buyeo palace, seolran goes to daeso and says she met dongseon from yangjeong and she heard that jumong is still alive. seolran tells daeso not to waver anymore and he should kill jumong at once, and if daeso can't do it she will do it, for she will not forgive anyone who stands in daeso's way. daeso tells his ministers and generals that he will build alliance with han nation to avoid war and heukchi urges daeso not to be afraid of war and that ppl are already saying daeso is han's puppet. budeukbul orders their meeting to stop and comforts daeso but daeso says jumong is still alive. budeukbul states they cannot kill jumong for jumong is a hero who contributed greatly in the war against imdun and jimbeon and if they kill jumong the citizens will be unsettled. jumong quietly sits alone and soya watches him, then returns to the trio and states she seems to be a big burden to them, but the trio state she is the one who saved jumong and she needn't worry for jumong will figure out what to do soon...

daeso tells the queen jumong is alive and the queen says if jumong returns the king will give powers back to jumong and everything will go back to the way things used to be. daeso says he knows but he can't just kill jumong either, and the qeeun says they have to stop jumong from coming back to the palace no matter what. daeso calls a meeting with his guards and tells them jumong is alive, and before he can return to the palace, they have to take care of jumong. hyeopbo and ohyi watch as naru and his men go around town looking for jumong. they bring the news back to jumong and jumong tells mari to find a safe place to keep soya there. soya says she will do whatever to help jumong and asks him to tell her what she can do, but jumong apologizes for not taking better care of her and mari urges soya to go with her and they leave.
jumong tells hyeopbo and ohyi to go around town to spread the news that jumong is still alive, saying if everyone finds out daeso will not be able to do anything either.

dochi and his man baemang overhear the townsmen speak about jumong being alive and back in buyeo, but dochi dismisses it as groundless rumore. dochi and baemang walk back to their base, when jumong appears before them and stares at them blankly. dochi and baemang flee and ohyi states now that those two saw jumong w/ their own eyes the news will soon be all over. dochi runs to tell yeongpo about the news and yeongpo scoffs them saying that is nonsense. yeongpo throws money at them and tells them to go drink instead and leaves, calling them pathetic fools.

next day in palace, yoohwa passes by palace maids gossiping and the maids tell her about the rumor that jumong is alive. yoohwa tells them not to spread rumor and mudeok asks if she should go verify it, but yoohwa dismisses it as nothing but rumor and walks away. naru reports to daeso about the rumors and states if they don't get rid of jumong soon things will get really out of hand. daeso and naru are disguised as commoners and go outside the palace. the men in town talk about how jumong is the hero, and how daeso is a shameful traitor who intends to sell their nation to the han's. naru draws his sword and tells the men daeso is king, but daeso tells naru not to proceed and to return back to the palace, since killing those men will not change the status of the people's hearts. the queen confirms to the oracles that jumong is really alive. the queen says jumong is behind the rumors and he is trying to turn the ppl against daeso. mawuryeong asks the other oracles to leave and tells the queen she should make it known to the citizens that jumong is not the king's blood but he is haemosu's. the queen is hesitant saying haemosu was a hero from the past and it could turn against them if they leak that news out, and that the only method they should pursue is to kill jumong.

jumong tells the trio he is going inside the palace, and the trio state that is too dangerous, but jumong insists on going inside alone. the trio want to go with him but jumong replies that will only draw attention to them, and jumong tells them to wait ouside while he goes in by himself. jumong skillfully sneaks into the palace and watches as daeso passes by..

jumong ep. 39:

jumong sneaks into the buyeo palace and watches as daeso passes by, but just as jumong moves further in a guard see him and jumong knocks him out before proceeding toward yoohwa's room. yoohwa awakes from her sleep and is shocked to see her son jumong come in. jumong calls her mother and yoohwa is afraid she is dreaming. jumong says she is not dreaming and he is indeed jumong. yoohwa feels him with her own hands and calls out his name then hugs him while weeping. yoohwa tells him she did not believe he would die so and jumong apologizes.

meanwhile the passing guards realize one of their own has been attacked and unconscious, and naru is called. naru orders everyone to search through the palace. yoohwa tells jumong there are rumors outside the palace about his sighting and jumong says he was the one who orchestrated the rumors and that daeso already knows he is alive and is trying to kill him. yoohwa warns jumong daeso is one who has gone against the king thus he is dangerous beyond compare and she will inform the king about he being alive, but jumong must not appear before daeso at any rate.

outside the palace the trio watch as the guards are searching through the palace and they decide they must go inside to help jumong, and ohyi is the first to sneak in. naru arrives outside yoohwa's corridor and pushes mudeok aside to barge into her room. yoohwa slaps naru for his behavior and naru grabs his sword, and yoohwa urges him to kill her if he is going to dishonor her and states she will go to daeso at once. naru steps out after apologizing, while jumong tries to sneak out. jumong is met by ohyi and jumong states they must escape at once, however they are soon surrounded by the palace guards who are pointing swords at him. jumong orders them to let him go for there is no reason for them to fight together. ohyi also urges the guards to move for they were once comrades in battle together. jumong states if they choose to slash him, he still cannot kill them, and the guards all kneel before him calling him their commander. jumong replies he must leave at this time but he will soon return to the palace again and they successfully escape.

dochi and baemang are walking through the street at night and as they see jumong and the trio pass by, dochi and baemang are sure that jumong is not a ghost this time. dochi orders baemang to go follow them to find out where they are staying and baemang goes reluctantly. naru reports to daeso they were unable to catch jumong and daeso is sure that jumong must have gone to see yoohwa or the king. naru replies he searched by both places but they did not find jumong there. yoohwa goes to king geumwa and informs him jumong is alive and that he just came to visit her, but daeso who knows about jumong being alive is trying to kill him.

musong catches baemang following jumong and baemang runs off afterwards. musong tells jumong he's been looking for him everywhere and that yeomieul has sent him after them. musong tells jumong yeomieul wants jumong to leave buyeo at once and that if he goes into the palace he will be faced with grave danger. jumong replies no matter how dangerous it is he cannot leave buyeo at this time. meanwhile, yeontabal et al return to gyeru and yeontabal tells yeomieul he has been kicked out of buyeo, and yeomieul replies she knows what that feels like. yeontabal laughs and states when he was young no matter how far he traveled he never felt tired, but this time he is tired and wishes to rest for a while.. yeomieul states it must be that he is tired spiritually.

yeontabal tells his group he became the chief of gyeru at the age of 20 and now he is tired, and names soseono the chief of gyeru. soseono states she is short on experience and skills to run gyeru, and though he is tired he must continue to rule gyeru. yeontabal states he will help her and wootae can help her as well, thus soseono should try. yeonchaeryeong advises yeontabal not to name soseono the chief since she is a woman and has had run-ins with biryu's song yang in the past. yeontabal is firm on his decision and says not to persuade him. yeonchaeryeong expresses her dismay at yang tak afterwards and states she will not sit still for this.

mopalmo congrats soseono on her new position as chief of gyeru, and asks if she met jumong yet. soseono is surprised and asks how she would meet jumong, and mopalmo breaks the news to her that jumong has been and is alive. soseono is shocked and speechless, and later weeps alone in the courtyard. yeomieul comes by and soseono asks yeomieul what sin did she commit to receive this cruel punishment, and yeomieul comforts her by holding her hands saying a fate that is already twisted should be regarded as destiny from the heavens and soseono weeps... with wootae walking by and watching with sorrow. soseono continues to lament into the night, and wootae drinks with sayong sitting by him. sayong urges wootae to stop drinking for he has already drank too much, but wootae responds though he is trying hard to get drunk he is not getting drunk no matter what. wootae asks sayong if he knows what he is feeling and sayong replies he knows the feeling of loving someone, and wootae states his pain is not being able to do anything for the woman he has loved all his life while she is suffering.

back in buyeo palace, the queen is worried and scared about jumong and both daeso and the uncle assure her there is nothing they need to fear. the queen however replies until he dies their dark fate together will not end. the king has sent songju to see jumong and songju kneels before him with a message from king geumwa.

naru reports to daeso the king has summoned court . the ministers are wondering which king they should obey now and budeukbul urges them to obey king geumwa since daeso is only a substitute. geumwa reclaims his seat on the court throne and asks the court if they had heard about the rumors of jumong being alive. daeso reports he had hoped jumong would be alive but it is only a rumor. geumwa asks him if he isn't blocking jumong from coming into the palace, and daeso says if jumong is alive he would want him back in the palace. the king responds he hopes jumong is alive then. next the king summons songju and tells him to go and bring jumong in.

jumong passes by naru on his way into the palace gates and naru welcomes him back, and jumong thanks naru, calling him the commander of guards. jumong and the trio walk into the palace and march toward the king, while yeongpo smiles and daeso is appalled. jumong kneels before king geumwa and apologizes for returning without carrying out the king's order fully. jumong asks for punishment for not winning against imdun and jinbeom, and the king responds his punishment is forgiven for jumong has returned alive.
mawuryeong and the oracles assure the queen she needn't worry about jumong for he will not return to the palace and they only see daeso shining in the future. the queen says she feels better after talking to them, but just then the queen's maid comes in with news that jumong has returned and is now with the king. the queen storms out and mawuryeong says she'd rather leave the palace then to endure this..

jumong tells geumwa he will not forgive daeso for what he has done to the king, but geumwa holds jumong's hands and urges him the time right now is for jumong to protect himself and wait for the right timing, since to daeso it is too easy to kill jumong in this situation. the queen goes to daeso and warns him he needs to kill jumong before jumong can do anything... jumong walks through the palace and yeongpo arrives happy to see him. yeongpo says he has something to say to jumong and the two talk. yeongpo expresses his anger at daeso for his treatment of their father and tells jumong the only one who can stop daeso is jumong and if jumong will step up he will help him. jumong pauses and thinks for a while, but states he is powerless right now after just cheating death, and the reason buyeo has kept its peace is all thanks to daeso, and that he believes it was the right thing for daeso to reign over buyeo while the king was ill. yeongpo is surprised and disappointed, and jumong goes to see daeso next.

daeso tells jumong he is happy that he is alive and back, and jumong states he will try his best to help daeso from now on, and daeso asks who will believe jumong's words, but jumong says he is not a fool who will block his own future, and he chooses to serve daeso now for daeso has kept buyeo at peace and asks daeso to accept his sincerity. jumong goes to yoohwa next and brings with him yesoya from hanbaek. jumong introduces soya as one who saved his life and without her he would not be here before yoohwa. yoohwa thanks soya, and soya says jumong is the one who saved her and she owes jumong. jumong asks yoohwa to look after soya, for she has lost her father and group through the battles. yoohwa comforts soya and tells her to be strong, for one day she will have the chance to avenge her enemies. next, yoohwa and jumong speak in private and yoohwa tells jumong, soseono had no choice and under the choices she made she must be suffering gravely, and though she wanted soseono to be with jumong, it is time for jumong to let her go.

daeso tells seolran about what jumong said and seolran says not to believe him and urges him not to miss an opportunity when it comes. daeso says he will take care of it and asks her not to worry. jumong gets ready to go see soseono, but mari and hyeopbo urge him not to go for jumong will only be in pain after seeing soseono, but ohyi supports jumong's decision and tells mari and hyeopbo only those who have loved knows the situation. hyeopbo and mari tease ohyi about buyeong and tells him by now she must be married with children, and ohyi is frustrated.

biryu's songyang goes to hyeonto and asks yangjeong for steel swords and yangjeong agrees. songyang returns to jolbon, and yeonchaeryeong goes to see him in secrecy. yeonchaeryeong introduces her son chansoo to chief songyang, and songyang tells yeonchaeryeong soon yeontabal will be exiled from gyeru and if she is here to discuss that issue she should leave at once. yeonchaeryeong says she agrees with songyang's assessment and she is here to make a deal with him. yeonchaeryeong states gyeru cannot be led by soseono, and asks songyang to help make her son chansoo the chief of gyeru. song yang asks if they will obey everything he asks and yeonchaeryeong replies he just needs to make his command.

next, song yang goes to yeontabal with the 3 other chiefs from jolbon's 5 small nations and order yeontabal to give up his position as chief of gyeru or else hwan-na, biryu, yeon-na, and gwan-na will all go to war with gyeru. yeontabal agrees and relinquishes his power over gyeru to the other jolbon leaders. sayong tells the news to soseono and wootae, and yeontabal comes out to tell them he does not want to go to war with them because songyang has daeso and yangjeong to back him and if they go to war only the ppl of gyeru will suffer needlessly. soseono is disappointed and afterwards wootae comforts her saying what yeontabal did was best for them and they should wait for an opportunity again. soseono says it is all her fault that gyeru has come to ruins and soseono grabs her heart in pain... soseono is recovering in bed and sayong tells wootae soseono is suffering from heart illness due to extensive sorrow.

yeonchaeryeong brings sword made by mopalmo to songyang and songyang is satisfied. yangtak tells yeonchaeryeong she needs to be extra careful for if the base found out about it they will not let it go easily. musong is dreaming about mudeok and mopalmo says he should return to buyeo in that case and musong complains he doesn't want to be here either. just then masked men with swords arrive and captures the two.
next, jumong arrives in gyeru and sayong goes to fetch soseono. soseono comes out of her room and watches as jumong apologizes yeontabal for what has happened to them saying it is all his fault, but yeontabal says how can that be his fault, and welcomes him inside their base. jumong declines and says he only came to apologize to him and soseono. jumong exchanges looks with wootae, and soseono cannot bear to watch anymore and runs to the courtyard with sayong watching in despair.

wootae goes to find soseono and tells his wife jumong has arrived and asks her to meet jumong. soseono weeps silently and says she will not see jumong for he is someone she has already forgotten and continues to weep....

jumong goes to yeomieul who comforts jumong saying he must have suffered greater wounds in his heart than physical harm, and she urges him to leave buyeo saying there is a greater world outside of buyeo and that is where he must set a bigger realm. the trio arrive and tells jumong mopalmo and musong have been kidnapped by song yang.

Jumong ep. 40:
musong and mopalmo are captured and prisioned. mopalmo tells musong song yang must be preparing to hand them over to daeso. musong laments saying he does not deserve death, while ohyi sneaks into biryu's fort looking for musong and mopalmo. song yang sends a messenger to buyeo to give daeso the news that song yang is prepared to hand the newly captured to buyeo. song yang tells his subordinate if they give mopalmo to daeso biryu will gain many things in return. ohyi returns to jumong to tell him about musong and mopalmo, and jumong tells the trio they must save the two before they reach buyeo. mari suggests to jumong they should seek advice and help from yeontabal first.

yeontabal's group calls a meeting, and wootae tells yeontabal he will assist jumong, but yeonchaeryeong urges yeontabal to leave it alone since jumong has done nothing but brought them trouble. soseono tells yeontabal they should give army to help jumong without further involvement from gyeru, and yeontabal agrees. afterwards yeonchaeryeong schemes with yangtak to put a stop to it somehow for they cannot risk losing their secret alliance with song yang. jumong arrives and asks yeontabal if he will help him, and yeontabal states he will help by giving them army but he cannot be involved in directly. jumong states he understands, and yeontabal says wootae will give jumong a group of men soon. yeontabal leaves, and soseono is alone with jumong.

soseono tries to put away her emotions and tells jumong she is happy he is alive, and states she could not keep the promise she made to him that she would wage her life in him due to her lack of belief in him, and asks jumong for forgiveness. jumong replies he is the one who should apologize since he failed to protect her, and jumong asks for forgiveness. soseono replies it is no use to linger a fate that was not meant to be, and states though it will not be easy she plans to forget him without any trace of lingering, and asks him to be well, turning and leaving with tears rolling down.... jumong watches as soseono leaves, and afterwards she sits alone in her room in despair while jumong goes out to ride the horse alone...

yeonchaeryeong and yangtak go to song yang to tell him about jumong's plan to save mopalmo no matter what. yeomieul finds out about jumong's plan and soryeong tells yeomieul she should stop jumong or else he could get hurt before he can accomplish a greater plan, but yeomieul replies mopalmo is too important to jumong to ignore. yangtak gives jumong false news about which way song yang's men are headed, and jumong takes his group to there awaiting to ambush them. however, song yang's men take musong and mopalmo on a different route and after jumong waits for a while they realize something is wrong, and sayong arrives on horse to tell them the biryu men took a different route, and ohyi wonders if this means yangtak and song yang are in it together. jumong and the trio try to go after biryu men, and sayong takes the gyeru army back to gyeru. before hyeopbo leaves, he exchanges a word with sayong who wishes him safety and hyeopbo replies gyeru is in a greater dire state and wishes sayong wellness.

back in buyeo, yoohwa meets with yesoya, and tells yesoya king geumwa wishes to meet her. yoohwa brings yesoya to geumwa, and yang seolran passes by with her entourage and tells her subordinate haochen to go and find out who the girl next to yoohwa is. yesoya arrives before the king, and geumwa tells her he once met her father, yecheon, and he was a brave man and expresses his regret over his death. geumwa asks yoohwa to look after yesoya for she has the wound of losing her father, and yoohwa agrees.
yesoya is sent outside, and yoohwa tells geumwa jumong had liked soseono, but while jumong was missing, soseono married wootae to escape daeso, and yoohwa tells gemwa in order for jumong to accomplish great deeds he must settle his heart first, and asks geumwa what he thinks about marrying yesoya to jumong. geumwa states yesoya comes from a great line, and says he will respect yoohwa's choice in the matter.

yang seolran finds out who yesoya is and calls yesoya into her chamber. yang seolran tells yesoya her saving jumong has caused trouble for many, and wonders why yesoya helped jumong when her group was sending him to hyeonto, and yesoya says she is no different than yang seolran, since she married buyeo's prince during a time of friction between buyeo and hyeonto as well. yang seolran is angry that she is mocking her and yesoya replies she would not dare to do so, and yang seolran warns her she will not allow anyone get in the way of daeso's road to the throne. yesoya is dismissed and haochen tells yang seolran yesoya has yoohwa behind her back thus they should be careful, but yang seolran says she needn't be watchful of yoohwa and states if she makes good use of yesoya things might get fun.

jumong and the trio finally catch up to biryu men with mopalmo and musong as captives, but they have arrived too late, since the biryu men hand the two captives to naru and the buyeo army right before jumong's watch. mopalmo is taken before daeso, and daeso asks mopalmo if he really thought he could escape him, and naru tells daeso musong is one who has been helping mopalmo, and musong begs to be set free, but daeso orders both to be taken to captivity. daeso tests out the sword made by mopalmo and realizes its superior strength. mopalmo denies making such strong sword, but daeso tells him he knows he is lying and asks him to confess but mopalmo insists he knows nothing about it. daeso then tells naru to go find jumong.

jumong arrives before daeso, and daeso asks jumong where he's been for he has not been seen in the palace for some time, and jumong replies he was resting. daeso then tells jumong mopalmo has developed sword greater than that of han, but he is not telling him how he made it, and now it is jumong's job to make mopalmo confess, since mopalmo and jumong go way back. daeso tells jumong if mopalmo won't confess, then he should just kill mopalmo.

naru is worried jumong might help mopalmo scheme something, but daeso says he is testing jumong right now, since he still doesn't believe jumong's words that he will help daeso. daeso tells naru if jumong helps mopalmo then he will have jumong killed. jumong frees mopalmo's bondage and mopalmo cryingly tells jumong he cannot serve daeso, but jumong tells mopalmo he must make steel swords for daeso. mopalmo complains saying he cannot do that for daeso, for daeso will surely pass the secret formula over to the hans, but jumong insists on mopalmo listening to his advise, or else he will have to kill mopalmo with his own hands. the trio watch in shock and mopalmo is speechless. jumong leaves, and the trio ask him how he can betray mopalmo who has given his life for jumong, and jumong simply tells the trio to watch mopalmo in case he does anything strange. mopalmo cries in prison over jumong's betrayal of him, but musong says all that jumong is trying to do is to save their life, but mopalmo says he can't do that no matter what. the trio are furious about jumong's behavior, and hyeopbo says they should leave buyeo if they must live so pitifully... jumong who overhears everything remains silent while appearing broken and sorrowful.

it is nighttime and jumong goes to mopalmo again, telling him to make swords. mopalmo asks jumong to kill him instead, and jumong replies he will really kill him thus mopalmo should get to work, and mopalmo says he cannot understand jumong who has changed so much, but he still believes in jumong and thus he will do what jumong asks of him, and agrees to make steel swords for daeso. jumong goes to see daeso next, and reports to daeso mopalmo has gone into the factory and he will surely make steel swords. daeso compliments jumong saying he has done great deed for buyeo, and summons naru to have a wine feast prepared for him and jumong. meanwhile yeongpo goes to see the oracle mawuryeong, and yeongpo tells her he came because his way of living is too boring, and asks mawuryeong what is in his future. the oracles all tell yeongpo he will shine in the future when the time comes, and yeongpo is happy about their fortelling.
yeongpo goes to dochi and dochi says he thought yeongpo would never show up again. yeongpo says he knows dochi is disappointed in him and dochi complains he risked everything for yeongpo but got nothing in return but blame. yeongpo apologizes and says it is all because of daeso who even sent him to the prision.
dochi cannot believe daeso's actions, and yeongpo says he plans to kill daeso. dochi goes to his man baemang and tells him though it could be the biggest mistake, he wants to help yeongpo kill daeso as he is tired of living like a nobody.

yeongpo returns to the palace and daeso gives yeongpo a task to go over all the national policies to prepare himself for greater tasks in the future, but yeongpo decline saying he is more suitable for entertaining wine and girls, and asks daeso to not send him to prision again if he really cares about him. yeongpo goes to see jumong and asks jumong if he really intends to serve daeso, and jumong replies that is what he must do in current state, but yeongpo says daeso puts greed and ambition over everything including the king, and yeongpo urges jumong not to sit still while daeso is taking everything from the king. jumong insists the king will surely acknowledge daeso too in no time, and yeongpo gets up in anger saying jumong has changed too much and storms out.

in hyeonto, yang jeong sends his minister to buyeo to go over their future plans with daeso. back in buyeo iron factory, mopalmo sends his blacksmiths out of the factory saying he will work alone, and orders musong to behead anyone who tries to come near the factory. mopalmo makes steel sword for daeso and daeso is happy, thus goes to budeukbul and wonders if jumong is really changed. budeukbul replies either jumong has realized times have changed and he is simply going with the tide, or else jumong might be waiting for the rain showers to pass, awaiting for the right time to come. daeso agrees with the assessment and next, daeso meets with yang jeong's minister who tells daeso yang jeong wants daeso to send an important member of buyeo to han nation as hostage. daeso is unsure but the queen tells him there is nothing to think over regardless what geumwa thinks since daeso is now the interim king of buyeo. everyone belives daeso will send jumong to the han nation as buyeo's security hostage in han, and daeso asks to see jumong.

daeso tells jumong everyone knows their relationship isn't good, but now that jumong as helped daeso by convincing mopalmo, everyone is now praising him. daeso then tells jumong han nation wants buyeo to send a highly positioned person from buyeo, and tells jumong to go to han nation as hostage, saying han is a bigger nation than buyeo and jumong can go there to learn many things to prepare for important mission after he returns. jumong says nothing, and daeso states actually he cannot wholeheartedly believe jumong's words when he said he would serve daeso, but if jumong agrees to go then he will believe jumong completely, and he will take good care of yoohwa in jumong's absence, thus daeso asks jumong again if he will agree to go to han nation.
